I think Dallas has a bright future but they also have a ways to go on the blueline. Like the Failboaters in Edmonton, if they expect to win every game 10-9, well...its not happening.

While Edmonton will have hit a grand slam with McJesus, I just wonder again, how is that team to go anywhere with a blueline made up of nothing but #5 and #6 d-men? Here's hoping Shiarelli is smart enough to jettison one of the existing blue-chip cores to get an established #1 or #2 defenseman.

Because, as hyped as Nurse or Klefbom are, they aren't ready to go against the opponents' #1 or #2 lines. Or, we'll see yet another batch of mentally messed up prospects...which is kinda the vicious circle Edmonton is in with Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov, and Eberle.

I don't think Detroit has a sole architect. The culture is embedded from the top down. Hands off, but accountable ownership, loyal (perhaps to a fault), seasoned scouting. Holland is not perfect (see Weiss, Samuelson, Cleary, etc.), but he's proven to be more wily than most GM's. That Nill and The Captain have spun off successfully speaks to the deep bench strength in Hockeytown.

If Babs truly believes he can have it better in another organization, all the best to him, but in the post-cap world, there are no stacked teams for long. Even when you shove all-in like That Masshole did, there are no guarantees you'll lift the cup.

Until recently, I thought Babs was going to kick some tires and then probably sign year to year contract and stay, but now I think its a coin flip he leaves for a Western Conference team.

Let's run down the list through a process of elimination:

1. Not Toronto because domcha and he wants to win now.
2. Not Buffalo because he wants to win now and like the above is in the Hotlantic and he doesn't want to spit in the face of the Holland.
3. Not San Jose because he doesn't want to play clean up hitter to his former second in command and they are past the sell date.
