Have any of you with an '05 or '06 TL experienced your outer door handle extension falling off per Acura Service Bulletin 07-043 from August 16, 2007?

I've seen people on azine get quotes for $100+ to replace the backer plate and then tiny plastic piece...ouch. I think a little super glue and snapping them back into place would be a little more cost effective. That's what I'm gonna do anyway....no way in hell I'm taking the door apart to do it

Joe...do you know anything about this? Is just snapping a new back into place the way to go? I think new pieces from the dealer are around $8-$12 (part #72644-SEPA01ZF / paint code NH-643M)

I got mine from acura, it came with my timing belt kit. You could get one from an auto store more than likely. See if joe can get you one from acura.

Here's my opinion on your list...

(CV Joint) I would only do the one that's bad... from what you described i would say left outer joint is bad, you could just do the whole left drive shaft to make it easier to install.

(Replace rotors & brake pads) I would replace the rotor's for the shake when braking, as far as pads go i would either go with the stock honda pads (part # 45022-SEP-A01) or go for a set from EBC if you are looking for better braking. EBC makes the ASPEC brake pads they are the EBC reds, from what I have been told.

(Replace serpentine belt) Stock belt was noisy and cracking just about any belt would be better than what is on there.

(Look at AEM filter) I would just get a cleaner kit and clean it since you have no idea when it was done.

(My car is at 60K miles) Basic fluid changes, Oil,Transmission (Only use Honda ATF-Z1), Coolant, Brake Fluid, and Cabin Filter.

Very common on the TL's. I have seen every color and every door have missing extension's. Very easy to either just snap the new cover onto your existing backer or take the 5 minutes to pull the door panel and replace it right. I would not use any kind of glue by the moving parts of the door handle at all. The problem with snapping the piece over the old backer is you risk weakening the small amount of plastic holding that piece on, and you will be off to the dealer again. Part # 72644-SEP-A01ZF List price is 12.43 and real price is 9.32

I think I'm going to pickup a cabin air filter as well. I watched a youtube video on how to change it out....looks pretty easy.

I still have your cell number...can you email me your address again? I can call in the morning and get it as well.

Is it worth spending $42 on an OEM serpentine belt?

Crack NAV Screen

Hi guys. The other day I was trying to put an address in my NAV and as it always does, it had a difficult time tracking my input. SO, I got a little frustrated and pushed on the screen a little too hard, and now have a cracked screen. The NAV works fine still, but obviously the touch screen is severely suffering. What's the best thing for me to do? Take it to Acura to see what needs to be done, or a shop somewhere in town? I'm not sure if the exterior 'touch screen' is separate from the NAV unit or if it's all one piece. Either way, I'm not expecting this to be a cheap repair. Any thoughts/input is appreciated.

@gunner252

Assuming that you have a 04-06 TL, here's a link to what you'll need: Click here

If you get it from the dealership, they'll try to charge you ~$2500.

It's not a difficult install. Just time consuming. All you'll need is a butter-knife (for popping off the trim panels) and a phillips screwdriver.

It's a little harder to come by screens for 07+, but keep searching eBay. You'll eventually come across one. The price will be a little higher than it was for the one I had linked too, but it still won't be anywhere near the $2500+ price tag that the dealer wants.

One other option would be to try searching www.car-part.com

Thanks! Does the entire center console come out, or just the parts around the NAV?

Just the climate control buttons and the navi buttons around the screen. You may need to temporarily slide the radio out as well. I forget. The screen will separate from the buttons once the whole thing is out so if you come across a unit that has worn buttons or scratches on the bezel you can mix-n-match the best parts.

If you need a hand getting the screen in/out once you have a replacement just ping me on the forums here and I can give you a hand.

I'd like to thank Evil Pineapple for helping me out last Saturday...appreciate it.

My "wiggle" when braking at high speeds is really starting to get on my nerves...I think I'm going to order new rotors and pads soon. I don't think it's the slotted rotors anymore, they've got to be warped a little bit.

I need to go and buy another Karate Gi this weekend. My old Gi is not looking so good. After years and years of sweat, its looking a little stained. A guy I know wants me to help him teach his Aikido class in a couple weeks. I better start stretching now, Its been a while since I have taught a class!

Hey guys. I had a busy Memorial weekend I went down to Des Moines to help a cousin find a decent used car and ended up selling her mine. Then because I had no mode of transportation home my uncle, her dad, offers to sell me his BMW M5 so in a little hasty decision making I said ok and now I am am a 2006 Interlagos Blue M5 owner. So far it has been pretty nice I usually leave it in P400 mode and am getting 16-17 MPG around town. When I switch over to P500 Sport mode I can be doing 80 before I know it but I find myself watching my speed more closely than I did in the Acura to see if I can eek out another 1-2 MPG.
There are two things I need help with and hopefully Travis and Jannik can help me out.

Travis my M5 doesn't have a AUX input for my iPad like the TL did I have been searching the BMW forums for help and they mostly point to a Dension Gateway 500. Do you know a place where I can get one of these at a good price or something similar so I can connect my iPad a 3.5mm mini plug like the TL will be fine but if it is only a little more for full integration let me know.

Jannik let me know what weekends you would be available to detail the car and how much. You can PM me if you dont want the info on the board.

Just got my new wheels and tires on and after trying them out, I'm not feeling them. Work VS-XX 18x8 +43 in a custom powdercoated finish, brand new valvestems and seals, iForged TPMS adapters with TSX TPMS, and Kumho Ecsta LE Sport in 225/40/18 mounted and balanced. I'm in over $2100 on them. I'm looking for $1800 OBO. If you know anyone interested, please get in touch with me. I would like to sell them locally.

I just ordered TaylorMade MC's (More of a blade style), I currently have Big Berthas aswell, I needed something that isn't so big and less forgiving just so I can actually tell when I miss hit the ball. The Big Berthas are very forgiving. I also picked up a TaylorMade R11 driver 3 Wood and a Hybrib last week.

A/C Issue

Has anyone else experienced this?

When I have my A/C blasting cold air on "Lo" the left vent above the radio blows a lot of air and the right side vent barely blows (I have it on dual zone).

When I raise the temp of the passenger side to 60 degrees, it is blowing warm air. It only blows cold air (barely) if I have it on "Lo".

Seems weird that it would do that...

Yep it is an E60 V-10 model with 500 HP and believe me it moves. Last weekend I went to Cars & Cafe at the Automotorplex and saw a bunch of M5's on display. Then on the way home on 62 saw a Ford GT pulled over by the police the old guy driving the car looked embarrassed about being pulled over. I was watching my speed very closely as the cops were everywhere around there they even have the radar guns checking your speed as you leave the complex.
