I'm down for local chill meets, and always helping a buddy out making his car sweeter. I just moved to downtown Minneapolis like 2 months ago and would love to make some local car guy friends.

sweet, finally somebody.

the only decent place that still faces Uni Ave and can see the street scene is Target. i'll cruise tonight and see any other good places. Porky's is taken by the muscle cars. you roll in there with an import and they'll chuck shit at you, maybe not but they're muscleheads.

i love my car and i love working on it, but it's kinda pointless if i'm the only one who even cares about it, and worse yet, i lack the expertise to do the jobs.

i figured if we can meet up every weekend, we can help eachother out, help install exhausts and all that shit. put the 200 dollars or something that you would pay the shop to buying some burgers and we chill and watch races

I'm a CL. not that it matters we need to get together anyway. I don't know anything around here or where we should go i've never actually met up with anyone before but If some of you more experienced local guys know a place just throw it out there.

With work and all - I can't commit to a whole lot - but I'm always down for kickin it somewhere. I have some buddies of mine that all are part of an f-body club (camero, firebird, trans am... etc) and they all just get together and make me jealous.

I know I got the classy ride - but it's nothing compared to a 500+ hp firebird with t-tops, headers, exhaust and the juice.

I got... ummm.... K&N CIA, and some 92 octane (lol).

Blacura - Blaine sux. Coon Rapids is where it's at *represent*

So yea - if you all figure something out, I'd be down for meeting some peeps at the bar or something for a burger and a brewsky. Not sure that I'm ready to hit the streets rep'n my TL to the whole world quite yet for any big events.

I'll keep checking back and see what happens. Hopefully we can get something going in the next month or so, or I'll be representing my old lady's grand vitara b4 too long. It's got a CD player.

ok this is good, it's going somewhere.
well, minnesota weather is getting kinda stupid so chances are we might not be able to do anything until next spring unless you guys wanna stand in the cold lol.

i got a buddy with a CL-S and another one with a TL-S. it kills me to drive by other modded TLs (not the granny ones) and not be able to chat with em.

the meet definately wont be much. not gonna roll into a dealership and hand out flyers and trophies. we're just gonna drop by whenever we can and help eachother out with stuff, create a good fanbase/club for the twin cities/minnesota area. it really makes me jealous seeing the california guys pull off 40 people meet like nothing

check back often, if i can get 4 people together i'll arrange a date and wait out in some parking lot for you guys

Like I said before I am definitely in for any little meets. Burger and brewski are a great idea. So that's three people we just need one more lol.

Another thing - I just moved to town and now that winter is approaching hail is on my mind. I walked by a civic the other day that looked like it had been through a ball bearing car wash . That is the last thing I want to happen to my CL. Right now I park it outside, but for $60 a month I can park it in my apartment building's garage. What do you guys think, should I move it inside for the winter or is hail that destructive less of a concern than I am making it out to be? Thanks for your advice!

Hail is more of a middle of summer thing - no worries about that at this point. Anything falling from the sky is either going to be wet or nice and fluffy.

I find the biggest threat in the winter is when it rains outside and it's 38 degrees. Turns your car into a big block of ice. Nice and protected, but most of the damage happens when you try to get into the car. I've gouged my fair share of weatherstripping on cars in the past. Now that I park in a garage though it's not an issue. I honestly can't say what I would do if I were you. At $60 a month, I wouldn't be jumping for joy - but it's kind of like insurance. You'll be dishing out $60 a month for nothing until that one day next spring when it hails and you'll have the biggest grin on your face knowing your not outside.

Up to you bro - good luck.

it's not so much the hail you have to worry about, there wont be any in the winter. it'll be snow and snow banks and prying your doors open after it snows at night, then it gets warmer during the day, the snow melts, then it gets cold again at night and your doors freeze shut.
oh and digging your car out of a foot of snow is always fun lol

ha yeah. so excited. I am originally from New England so i'm prepared for snow and ice and such, but never seen hail damage like i did on that civi so that was my only real concern. Good to hear I don't have to worry about it till spring. Seriously though, meet guys? We could have a winter meet in a parking lot and do some snow drifting lol. Or burgers and beer that too...

Alas! I finally found this thread was looking for people in TwinCities areas for a while now. Winters don't bother me here in Minnesota but don't really like snow on the road. Put me down for the meet! I've got a TL'05

I'm down for that. So does November 3rd (saturday) sound good to everyone?

I'm open so don't let me put ideas in your heads - but that sounds about right to me.

Also not sure where everyone else is coming from - but from my perspective (and blacura's if he's coming) - someplace perhaps over northeast might be the middle for us. I.E. Fridley or Columbia Heights (what's there?).

I'm sure buffalo guy would much rather meet us in Coon Rapids or Blaine which is quite alright with me too... lol

Let me know and I'll make sure the wifey doesn't have any dishes for me to wash that day.

i dont know too many places, i dont go out of town much lol. there is a place where car enthusiasts gather a lot tho, and that's the whole stretch of university avenue from western to past vandalia. it's a good 4 mile stretch i'd say, not sure bad with distances lol
there're a lot of activity on friday and a bit less on saturday nights. on top of that it'a fairly busy street and you see a lot of supras and rx-7s and stuff rolling by. plus there's a mcdonald's, wendy's, BK and a lot of other food places fairly close together. might be a bit far for most people, but we do have until the 3rd to work out a spot.
so there's

1. Razzi - Saint Paul 55101

EDIT: i looked at some of the locations mentioned in this thread, and a lot of you guys live out far lol

2. TLed - Plymouth 55441

however i work at Lexington by Energy Parkway. Its not too far for me. Any place in that stretch works. Closer to Vandalia the better

3. underst8 - Downtown Mnpls 55401

3rd is good for me. Or that Friday night even. The stretch on University sounds like it'd be fun. I'm open to pretty much anything within a 45 minute drive if possible.

Add me to the list, Downtown Minneapolis, 55415.

I am pretty much open to whenever, sounds like Nov 3 is the date.

ok, so then the weekend location for our get togethers will be here then?
1300 University Ave W
Saint Paul, MN 55104

if it's too far for the guy out in the extremes, we can set up meets that will be more convenient for you guys. but for the most part, this is where we can get together on fridays and saturdays.
is everyone ok with that?

So, what is at that address? Is it a parking lot or a bar, or what?

Ah, so that is the new SuperTarget that they just recently opened. I know exactly where that is then.

So this would be considered the Minneapolis/St Paul 'strip' then? God I feel old just writing that...

Nice. And I work at Target HQ conveniently enough so hopefully no one will have a problem with us being there.

Now I just gotta get my MN license before next weekend...my out of state just expired. U guys know if it's gonna be a bitch to get it done/how hard is the written test???

Target corp huh? I worked at the new corp office in brooklyn park until July. Nice place - I was doing contract work for them (PC stuff). Now I got a full time gig at Wells Fargo downtown (right off 35w and 94)

I'm starting to think that everyone in the area either works for Target, 3M, or Wells. Or at least has at some point in time...

That place works for me too!

I haven't worked at Wells Fargo or Target but I know tons of people who did at some point. I think that's because of their contracting positions

You're right about the contract bit. I know at least Target doesn't hire many people directly on. I had to go through a contract company just to get in the door.

So for me, Target = contract. Wells = permanent position though ( I guess I kind of fibbed about the Wells thing. Technically speaking I work for a company called Nexus Information Systems doing IT work. But I'm permanantly stationed in the Wells building. I'm the guy that Wells' desktop support escalates their hardware tickets to.)
