I just checked, and GT5P has the '08 STi as one of the available cars. Maybe I should bust that bad-boy out and see what I can do with it. It would be cool to see how it goes on the track since GT5 is supposed to be a great simulator for what the car is actually going to do.

haha, crazy night.
so me and my friends decided after some time to go crash a church dance, we walk in there, and just start going to town.. we honestly made the dance.. we like made circles and did some bboy shit.. other dances got us kicked out by the dj though, haha..
so then i got to my friends house around 1140(edina), and head home, i pass a cop he pulls me over, says i look suspicious, and gives me a breathalizer, becuase i guess i have twitchy eyes..
but i was pulled over because/talked to about?-
1. License plate light is out
2. He didn't like where I pulled a U-turn, it was legal, he just didn't like it
3. Curfew is 11 in hennepin county, huh.
4. I smelled like booze(which i dont drinnk and haven't been close to all night)
5. no insurance card

I ended up only getting a citation for no insurance card, which has no fine, so I'm fine..

Sounds like he didn't like the look of your blacked out ride down there in Edina and was fishing when he got to your window. You have anything on your record? Odds are that he ran your plate well before he lit you up.

As for driving the Scooby on GT5p, it was fun to drive, handled pretty well (unless you hammer the brakes in the grass with slicks on), and went like stink. We were able to win some races and play with the settings a bit to see what would make what difference. All in all, it was fun to drive a car in a video game that I am planning on purchasing in real life.

as soon as he started asking me if i had anything to drink i told him i didn't and would take the breathalizer, he said I smelled like booze and that my eyes were very twitchy. I took the test and he just asked if i had a medical condition that would explain my eyes.

I'm pretty sure my record is clear as of right now, because my ticket hasn't gone through, unless parking and tint tickets show up as well as speeding tickets that haven't gone through yet

If you got pulled over and someone wrote you a ticket, you can safely assume that the tickets are on your record. Is the car registered to you or your mom?

I believe there is a law about it, why else would everyone use either red or yellow? I know that when I used to do safety inspections in Missouri the requirement was that they be factory color, whatever color that may be (red or yellow). We were actually supposed to fail a car for safety inspection if they had red blinkers when yellow were standard.

As far as MN, I don't know.

So prior to pulling you over he had your mom's details up on his screen, and once he looked at your license he could only see those violations that are listed in your name. Tint may have been on screen, speeding most likely was but it is still being worked, and parking goes to your car, not your license usually.

After he said you smelled like booze you should have said "Well you smell like bacon and my eyes start to twitch when i smell pork products." That may have lead to a fine and not just a citation but it would have been a fun story to tell.

I know that in Missouri it was the highway patrol that regulated the motor vehicle inspections. You could start by contacting your local law enforcement community and telling them that you are looking to make some changes to the lighting on your car but want to make certain it is still legal and see if they can point you in the correct location. You could also try searching the internet for info, it may not be 100%, but it would be a good place to start. Also keep in mind that there are a lot of requirements that are mandated by the Federal government. It is these Federal requirements that the car manufacturers have to build to. Requirements as to how high the bumper has to be, headlights, taillights, 3rd brake lights, stuff like that is all Federally mandated but enforced by local police.

For example, in the 70's there was a mandated number of square inches that had to be taken up by the tail/brake light. What you ended up with is a motorcycle with a monster tail/brake light.

You could also try talking to a cop you see standing about somewhere and see what his thoughts are. I remember talking to a couple of guys that I did a ride-along with and asked them about the tint laws in MN. Knowing that the actual law states that anything over 50% on ANY window is illegal, the cops told me that they probably wouldn't stop me no matter what was on the back as long as the fronts weren't darker than 50%. So, from that I take that you can go really dark in back but keep the fronts pretty clear.

You also have to remember that there are a LOT of cops out there and this is just the opinion of two guys that I met.

They should just make the tint laws 35% like pretty much every other state. 50% isnt even worth it.

The only benefit of 50% is that it provides better UV protection than clear glass and will keep your interior from fading too much.

I was written for 35% when it was 10PM and I was driving down 35W N. If you don't want to get hassled, don't tint your windows.

That said, as soon as I get my Scooby I am getting the windows done...

Why not just move to Phoenix? There you can tint all but a 4" strip across your windshield up to 4%. Talk about DARK. You see cars driving down the road at night and you can't see shit inside and they can't see shit outside. It makes it a much safer environment.

cali, new york and florida all have higher population than us. yet their tint laws are 35% and lower, whereas ours is stuck with 50%.

there is no correlation between tint laws and crime rates, otherwise new york, florida and cali woulda changed it to 50%

politicians piss me off

What does population have to do with tint?

The people that want it are the cops that have to walk up to a car that they cannot see into. If I were a cop I would want an outright ban on tint because it just makes them less safe. I can totally understand why they would want to have a lower tint threshold, and why they would lobby the state legislature to make the tint laws more strict.

On another note, put in my bid for that Scooby, hope I get it!

And yes, I will be tinting the windows. Just because I understand where they are coming from does not mean that I agree with them.

Prolly 35%. I was pretty happy with that on the TL and the wife is not a big fan of not being able to see at night, so going much darker is not an option. Besides, the next step up is 20% and that is a large change.

Sorry, but they don't make 28%. You have 35% tint with 7% of loss due to the window glass.

I don't have many photos of the car, but it is an '08 with 11K on the ODO. Red, 6-spd, 305HP, 295 lb ft of torque, 5-door hatch.

Here is the one photo that I DO have.
