What does this have to do about anything??

and LOL at what you said about cost. you really do not understand anything I am saying.

again, are you fucking retarded? I said that xbox360 users are more likely to buy a ps3 or blu-ray player than a PS3 user is to buy an HD-DVD player. I'll walk you through it...Xbox user is play his games just fine. He wants the new technology. He can choose HD-DVD or blu-ray. Yes, HD-DVD would be cheaper, but there is a chance he might opt for blu-ray. On the other hand, PS3 user is playing his games. He wants the new technology of movies. Do you think he is going to go buy an HD-DVD player when he already have a blu-ray player? Which scenario is more likely to happen? A child could figure that out.

and iseater, I am sure you are right. Too bad that is not the case. therefore, the people with the ps3 are much more likely to use the blu-ray over buying an hd-dvd player...

dude, just chill out already... personally, I hope both consoles do good... and can somehow co-exist... like BMW/Mercedes, Ford/GM, etc. etc... as for the High Def. DVD thing goes... only time will tell... all this arguements is just pointless... I mean... who are we? a bunch of nobodies really...

And here are the two players they say to "add to cart" to see the latest price:

HD DVD players kill the Blu Ray players cost by a long shot IMO.
hm.. so the 1 HD-DVD player thats around the 1k price range is the only one to support 1080p where as the cheaper ones for 600ish are 720p/1080i

Well, when you write such a vague and broad statement I'm telling you it reads much differently then just implying PS3. Don't come whining just because you don't know how to write properly.

and if all you are saying is that both formats will fail, wtf are you doing argueing. If you haven't got the point already, I am saying that the PS3 is doing more for the blu-ray format than the xbox is doing for the HD-DVD format.
I'm saying I believe that in the long run both formats will lose out to whatever is coming next (internet.) And I'm telling you the PS3 is NOT doing more for the format any more the the Xbox is doing for HD-DVD. It doesn't matter that it comes built in or sold as an accessory. Neither format is flying off the shelves. But HD-DVD does have the upper hand in many ways if there is to be one winner.

again, are you fucking retarded? I said that xbox360 users are more likely to buy a ps3 or blu-ray player than a PS3 user is to buy an HD-DVD player. Again, this is a baseless statement from a poorly thought out idea. The only reason a xbox owner might buy something with bluray is because they want a ps3 and that would obviously be PRIMARILY for the games. Same goes for any PS3 owner who decides to buy an xbox because anyone buying an xbox AND a ps3 is a gamer first and movie watcher second.

So again, doesnt prove or mean they will actually use the machine to watch movies.

You're sitting here trying to make an arguement by intermixing whether a person wants a gaming machine or a movie player, and it just doesnt work like that.

No one is going to buy either system because HD-DVD or Blu-ray. Simple as that. They are going to buy them based on the games they want to play. The fact that eitehr one inexpensively (compated to stand alone players) brings a next gen format into your home is a bonus, should anyone decide to make use of it.

Figure it like this since you seem to be a fairly dense youngster. I could be very wrong. You could be very wrong. We BOTH could very wrong on this argument. Fact is none of us really know how this is going to turn out.

But I think have a pretty good idea. And in the end I still say neither. But should a format win. The cards have lined up to make it HD-DVD.

Time will tell.

jesus christ, I am done. I love how people don't use logic when making arguements. I say one thing, you counter with something that doesn't have anything to do with what I said. whatever

Anyone else agree with him on this? Or am I making clear points that make a lot of sense?

A guy on another forum I frequent bought 3 PS3's and couldn't get rid of the final one, so he offered it to me at no additional cost.

I ended up getting a 20gb PS3 for less than I would have paid here in NY as his tax rate is lower (I paid $525 for it).

I really have little interest in the PS3 at the moment as the games don't interest me, but I'm a big video game fan, so I figure the PS3 will eventually have great games so why not get it now for a good price.

The one thing really pissing me off is that it doesn't come with HD cables so I have to pay extra for HDMI cables just adding to the price.

Sweet! I'm the same as you. No real allegience to any company... just give me the good stuff and I'll buy it regardless of who makes it

Well, it's the same deal as the 360. You either need to buy the HD cables for the basic package or upgrade to the Premium which come with the cables (as well as other things).

Shouldn't be a big deal though. Especially since you dont' need a special Sony cable. HDMI is HDMI. So check out monoprice.com for an HDMI cable. 6' shouldn't be much over $20...

I also read about another website... www.firefold.com which sells cables for even cheaper then monoprice.com and they get their supply from the same distributor! In fact, sometimes if their distributor runs out, they use monoprice as their supplier!! So it's the same cables for even less money! I may check them out the next time I need cables, which will be after we get back from our holiday travels...

Thanks a ton! I just ordered an HDMI cable from monoprice. I was worried it would be over $50 as it is a total rip off at stores like BestBuy or RadioShack.

N/P

I can't tell you how many cables I have ordered from them. Everything from component to HDMI to DVI/HDMI to digital and optical audio cables. Service is top notch and pricing can't be beat...

Speaking of monoprice...

Does their optical toslink splitter work? My Yamaha is running out of optical and coaxial inputs...

That's what I was thinking. I mean, I'm dying to see 1080p stuff on our new set also... but I'd buy the $199 HD-DVD add-on for the 360 before I bought a PS3. But, in his defense he basically got one for regular retail if you factor in tax on $599.

Of course he probably could have waited and gotten his discount

SOOOOOOOO today I went to Target with 2 coworkers. Me and this girl I work with wondered over to the electronics section. We were watching the demo for the Wii.. So I was just curious to see if they had any.. Low and behold they had 1........PS3..... Just sitting there, in the bottom of the cabinet. It litterally sat there for 5 min. Some lady bought it right infront of me for her kid, I presume....

I asked the guy how long it had been sitting there, he told me 5 min.. He then proceeded to tell me that SOMEONE RETURNED IT!!!!!! I was speechless. Lost for words... Blank stare on my face.. As to be wakin up from a dream... Some one returned a PS3... WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT!!!!!!!! Who returns a PS3...

I wouldnt have bought it even if I had the money. At this point in time its pointless and I will continue to enjoy my 360. But I just thought that it was amazing to see one at a store, this close to christmas. Let alone it being there from someone that had returned it... Today has been a crazy day. I saw a Ps3 and it snowed.... WTF???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Anyways, that was my story... Today is just crazy, I wonder what else weird is gonna happen.

I am an owner of both systems, and other than Resistance, I can't find a single game worth playing on the PS3 versus a TON of great games currently available on the 360 (Oblivion, RS:V, GoW, Dead Rising, etc..)

The PS3 will have a better selection next year, but the 360 has the PS3 beat by miles in the games selection right now.

THEN I see a PS3 for sale at retail value in a store... 1 week before christmas...And I have not been in any store that would even carry one for about 2 weeks.

Ok, you are overreacting like crazy. There have been a lot of people returning PS3s. A lot of stores have been getting them in lately.

Check prices on ebay. You aren't making a profit anymore. Because of this, people who wanted to sell their PS3s are just returning them to the stores they bought them

But for it to be returned and put back on the shelf? I thought that if they were returned, they were sent back to Sony.

who has/has played NBA 2K7? It looks great, but I really don't like the gameplay. The game just doesn't feel right, especially down near the basket. I was looking forward to NBA Live but I think that won't be coming out until next year for 08

I played Live 07 from EA and 2k7 and 2k7 wins hands down. The AI in EAs version is dirt crap, and the pacing is way to slow.

The 2k7 AI is better and looks better (overuse of gloss effect), but it's still inferior to NBA 2k5 on the PS2.

Unless you are an addict for NBA games, I would hold off.
