well i talked with one of the target stores by me today, they actually had some yesterday but were obv sold out - but the girl, whom seemed informed, told me that their ad coming up will have the ps3 in it and will receive a shipment next week - most likely on sunday, she said

Cuz Sony has done a great job brainwashing their fanboys for that past upteen years.

However, I have no doubt that they'll have some great titles in about a year but I still wouldn't get one.

But why Blu-Ray over HD-DVD when current titles are said to look better in HD-DVD?

Or, why DVD at all? Why not just download Hi-Def movies from LIVE or on your PC and stream them to your XBOX?

kinda wrong thread i think, but yeah, i saw that last night.

i'm not quite sure it addresses the scaling issues that everyone is concerned with, especially considering this is a loose translation from japanese text.

the PS3 still has no hardware scaling capability, that can't be fixed. however, maybe thats where the cell processor will finally shine... in its ability to perform on the fly video transcoding through software.

 

Good list. I really don't care about most of those... but it seems accurate. The only one that is wrong is :

Yes the BluRay player is forced since it's built-in, however, the 360 Premium ($400) plus the HD-DVD add-on ($200) is $600... same price as the PS3 Premium... not cheaper as the article states.

But overall this launch appears to be a worse clusterfuck then the 360 launch. I'll wait until Madden 2008 comes out... and if they have their act together, I'll scoop one up then. If not, I'll stick with the 360 for HD gaming.

MI:3 looks great in HD even though the movie is just average.

 

I used the coupon Silver posted a few pages back. It expired last night, luckily... my local CC finally got the HD-DVD drives back in stock yesterday.

 

I haven't had a chance to use it yet since I can't manage get a VGA cable connected to my TV without taking it off the wall

Two of my buddies just walked into gamestop and walked out with PS3's. They just got a shipment this morning. No hassle, no fuss.

 

My local Circuit City had at least a dozen in stock last night... and not a single person in line to get one. I'm not sure what all this low demand fuss is about?

 

... they didn't have any Wii's in stock though... and they had giant signs out front stating so. "THE NINTENDO WII IS OUT OF STOCK... SORRY!"

same here, my cousin walked into Best Buy and bought two. He traded one for a set of 2.2k wheels an hour later, no fuss no muss...

eb games/gamestop has gotten shipments today apparently - i picked one up for my nephew from the eb games by my work.

 

I want to get one so bad, but I want to save up to get a 1080p LCD, but that won't be for at least another year

I read the thread yesterday, drove around trying to find it (PSP's new Metal Gear Solid game)... nobody had it... so I gave it one last try at Game Stop... while waiting to be helped.... a customer was at the counter a bit pissed cause they had sold his pre-ordered PS3... (he didn't pick it up within 48 hours, was out of town) I, totally, pretended like I wasn't paying attention... so then I hear the employee tells him... very discreetly, that they are "possibly" getting some... today... so today I got there just before they open... and waited til UPS arrived... and sure enough they got in 6 60g's and 2 20g's... but 2 of the 60's were for the reserved people, so I bought it... not sure yet if I should sell it or save until I get a 1080p TV, right now, at the moment there isn't a PS3 game that interest me...
