Sony: PS3 News and Discussion Thread
Well my Playstation (1) FINALLY died on me after 13 years... so I need to go out and get a memory card adapter to play them on my Playstation 3 (old PS games don't look good on an HD screen -- too jagged and pixelated). Since the memory card adapters are apparently discontinued, they're pretty spendy, too. Sucks for me since I kinda HAVE to transfer the save files as opposed to starting over. I have a lot of RPG data. Like 30-60 hours each save file
^^^^^
HOLY SHIT. After I got a memory card reader, clocked another 10 hours into my copy of Legend of Legaia only to find out the game isn't compatible with PS3. I swear I'm near the end of the game and I come to find out it freezes at a very particular spot. Read on the Playstation.com forums that this has been an issue for the past 6 years, so obviously Sony has no plans to release a firmware update to correct it.
As a matter of fact I had a live chat with a customer service tech with Sony who tried to diagnose it as a problem with the disc.
No, the disc is fine, the system is fine. I even showed him the link to the thread someone posted about this issue, he of course didn't read much into it, said "It may seem like that's the issue, but we still need to troubleshoot your console"
Typical customer service. They just give you the runaround until you leave them alone. When you think about it, that's actually worse than them just simply coming out and saying "sorry, you're SOL"
So now I'm off to try to repair my Playstation. It's for the best, really -- assuming it works.

I hate that non backward compatability crap, I feel like if you have an old games ithe system cant play it at a minimum you should be able to insert the game into the console and get a free digital download of said game that compatable with newer systems.
FYI there's a big spring sale for the Metal Gear, God of War, DMC, Ratchet and Clank, Bioshock series. I got the PS3 version of GoW PSP games (Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta) called GoW Origins Collection for $9.79 with my PS+ discount.
Shafting the people who bought the PS3 when the 360 was whipping your ass the hardest..
Still love the game. At the time the graphics were pretty top-notch. Even Squaresoft RPGs were largely 3-D models against 2-D backgrounds. I heard the sequel for PS2 was a let-down, though.
There might be two separate forms... but I'm not sure how you would prove you tried to install Linux on your Playstation. iirc you do have to submit your PSN ID as well, so they may try to verify which you belong to, that way.
Speaking of PS3, has anyone upgraded to PS4 and then gone back and played PS3? I bought Demon's Souls after playing Bloodborne on PS4 and Jesus Christ this thing is slow. Starting up, loading the game, connecting to the game server, loading the saved game, going from the Nexus to a level, I could read 12 books in a day.
