i think you are confusing premium HD with local HD service.
to get HD HBO, Showtime, Discovery, channels like that you need to subscribe to cable.
But to get NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, CW, channels like that in HD it's free over the air.
this is one of the ways that the US govt can push their concept of doing away with analog broadcasts and have everything digital. people with a digital receiver in the future could still get TV broadcasts for free in HD.

), we can only get HDTV if you subscribe to it. So, channels like TSN (for sports) and etc. are only available if I get it through the cable provider. So yeah...I'm SOL unless I pay up.

But, only if you have subscription to cable TV. And if you want HDTV of those networks, you need to subscribe for that on TOP of the cable TV subscription.

PS3 HD swap and data backup
I am going to do a HD swap on my PS3. I know the swap is fairly easy, but I dont know what I should do for backing up the save game data. What would be the best option for me to back up pictures and data? I have a USB thumb drive, but its only a 1Gig (not sure if that is enough). Have any of you done a HD swap on your PS thrizzles ?

so, I walked into Costco today, and they finally got their bundle in... 60g/ extra controller/game for $699... I'm sooooooooooo tempted... I asked this girl I kinda know who works behind the c/s counter... and she said that consoles DO NOT fall under that new return policy
