Team Xecuter's Hard Drive Xtender replaces PS3 HDD with your own
http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/14/t...with-your-own/
Rest assured, those looking for a clean solution to add hard drive space to their PlayStation 3 had mixed emotions when pondering the Hyperdrive. Thankfully, Team Xecuter has unveiled a much sleeker (and flexible) alternative with the Hard Drive Xtender; the device actually replaces the internal PS3 hard drive and provides a plug to run externally, where you can then attach your favorite SATA or IDE drive (with optional adapter). Obviously, the biggest boon in this setup is the money you'll save from not having to spend a small fortune on a dense 2.5-inch SATA drive, and considering that the Hyperdrive can reportedly be used in conjunction, the limits of PS3 capacity are now slightly closer to endless. Hackers rejoice, it's yours for a meager £12.99 ($26).

Well, the x360 HDD is encrypted with some hardcore DOD tech, so u won't be able to get a third-party HDD running on it unless you are a terrorist.

I thought the playstation store was pretty smooth running. Load up your money..buy what you want.
How's it different then Xbox?

the store does get on my nerves at times. It should charge my card & just bypass the bucket crap. I have three cents sitting in my bucket now since they add money in $5 increments and the games are $4.99, 7.99, etc
this is just an inconvenience though

PS3 owners get portable display
Posted on: August 12, 2007

If you have somehow deluded yourself into strapping a TFT LCD display onto your PS3, laying claim that the PS3 is now portable, perhaps this flip screen from Nevover Electronics will help you achieve that delusion. This 7" TFT LCD display mounts atop your PS3 securely, offering a pitiful resolution of just 234 x 480 pixels which pretty much does nothing to convey the beauty of 1080p graphics that the PS3 is capable of. Besides, you wouldn't want to be caught dead carrying an 11 pound console all over the place, would you? Meant for folks who want to install a PS3 in their vehicle, but I guess you're better off with a nice 32" LCD TV in your Hummer to go along with the PS3 instead of this puny solution.

the new firmware v2.10 makes the ps3 a profile 1.1 blu-ray player
as well as it now supports playback of divx and wmv files

Do a swap! I recently purchased a 20gb PS3 (used of course) because I hated how the 40gb ones on the market were not backwards compatible. So I looked up a guide on how to replace the hard drives and it turns out its very simple! I can link you to the site if you wish, as I have already ordered a 160gb HDD to replace the 20gigger for only $80
Hope this was a help..
no, you dont have to open up the console, there is a latch that covers where the existing HDD is, you just take off the latch, unscrew a screw IIRC, and then take out the HD tray and then disconnect the old HD and then pop in the new one.
as for warranty stuff

Mizouse pretty much nailed the process...But it is basically untraceable if someone checked. If anything at all, slip your old PS3 HDD in the unit before you ship it out for warranty reasons.
Can you hook up an external USB HDD to the PS3's USB ports? If so, I would just save the hassle of "whether" you are going to break and void something and do it that way. Use it as your media drive and save the internal drive to use just for games.

i forgot, i doubt it does void your warranty if they give you instructions on how to do it in the instruction manual for the PS3
