As far as rarity....Now that I'm actually looking for them, I really don't see them around here. I saw FOUR C5 and one C6 Corvettes yesterday, on the other hand! Probably a dozen or more Mustangs .

On another subject...

My GOD, people stare at this car when they see it. The last car I owned that got this much attention was my 3G TL, and that was because I bought the first one ever sold in Northeast Ohio....and it's nothing like what I get with the S. I commuted to work in the S today and....wow, the response. I've received no comments so far, but I expect them as the weather warms up.

Top always down!

Bob is feelin reaaaal pimpish Its a nice feeling

Yeah. I guess I am feeling that way.

Wife just sent me out to get something for dinner. Top's already down on the S. Time to hit an onramp!

You have to PM a guy on S2ki for info about the stickers. I plan to get one to put on the windscreen.

This link is the whole list of graphics:

If you scroll down in this link, you'll see who to PM...third post from the bottom.

Cool graphics.

Thank you Soopa for not allowing graphics in sigs. That gives me a headache.

A nature shot as I was driving through the park, top down. Aaaaaaah.

The S2K's new home. It will be a garage queen along with the wife's Pilot. My RL will hang out outside unless I add a third bay to the garage. My extra-special little car wash helper, my son, ran into the picture at the last second.
Congrats Bob!!! I bet you love her!

Also, to comment on the CDV interference, I will mention this difference I noticed. I have driven many S2k's as well as my own. On my MY06, the CDV has never interfered once with me shifting fast at any time, even while participating in HPDE's. However, I have driven a few throttle cabled AP2's and at the limit, I notice the CDV, but like I said, I have never once had it interfere on my 06. Maybe the DBW system allows for a smoother operation for me, I don't really know, but that is what I have noticed.

Of note as far as differentials go, I changed my fluid tonight, and very few metal shavings clinging to the magnetic plug. This is with 17K on the clock.

^Good to hear!

As long as you're not putting slicks and dead-hooking it at the drag strip the diff should be fine.

I have done both- 2nd is really easy, 3rd requires a perfect shift (AP2 with CDV)

Yes, from what I read on S2KI. I'll just make sure I never visit Miami/southern Florida in the S, that's the epicenter for this particular crime.

I'm still planning to invest in the seat locks, though, just to complete my sense of paranoia.

On another topic...
Have any of you S owners considered buying Rick's 4.56 gears to improve drivability around town? Here's the link...

http://www.ricks2k.com/products/reargears.php

I still don't plan immediate mods and am generally satisfied with the car, especially when I keep it in the power zone. However, just looking toward the future. How about Rick's custom S badges? Those look pretty nice.

I guess with higher mileage, you can find some cheap Sk2's...

Here's a 2002 with 92K miles for 13.9k:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=243586911

KBB says it's worth a couple grand less... now that would make a nice track car...

yes.

gears are "different" but not worth it in my opinion:
- on the track, its more of a detriment to be shifting constantly.
- cruising rpms on the hwy are higher = more noise, and less mpg

My friend has an 02 with 4.77s and the increased amount of shifting he does counters the increased torque multiplication.

i looked at your pic of your garage again neuronbob. that gives me an idea that i should just back into the garage too when i park my car now. why didn't or have you also changed the way the Pilot is also parked in your garage too?

The Pilot is the wife's ride. Even with a rearview camera, she is just not a "back-in" person.

I started backing into the garage when I owned only FWD cars, have been doing it for years. it made it lots easier to get out of the house on those winter mornings when it snowed.

Get crappier tires or increase your air pressure and it will allow more then a chirp and allow for a 2-3 chirp.... then again I'd rather have no chirp and just go fast

Another note, and reason I love this car, I did a lot of highway driving last week, in fact I drove more last week then I have in the last 2 months combined, I got 29mpg. If I babied it a bit more and planned my fill ups better I could easily get 300 miles on a tank of gas.

4.56's... No only because my S is a daily driver, but if I ever make it a weekend/track car, I will. One of my local guys had 4.77's, but sucked for a daily driver as well.

The S badges are a nice touch.... I actually bought a set of discontinued red S on black background, but haven't put them on yet.

No crappy tires for me. I'll pay the price for good tires. As a matter of fact, I just reaplaced and upgraded my rears to the 255/40/17 RE050 Pole Positions, which I was thoroughly impressed with @ the event I mention below.

Interestingly enough... I did a HPDE last weekend, and being WOT on the track, at the end of a day, when I filled up, I still got 14 mpg but got 30MPG on the trip back home.

Thanks. I think it's simply not going to be worth modding my S. The only power mod worth doing is a supercharger.

I think new tires are about as far as I'm going to go, and I don't think it's time to replace the SO2s yet.

As far as mileage, I'm getting 25 mpg in mixed driving.

Thats good mileage Mr. Bob
Actually one mod you may really like, get the K&N FIPK... Give the motor an awesome grumble even under moderate throttle.

Everyone that hears it, loves the grumble it emits.

I got my first comment about the S while driving it on Saturday.

The top was down....of course. Was stopped at a traffic light. An older lady in a huge SUV leaned out her window and asked "what kind of car is that?" I told her. "I didn't know Honda made that. How much did it cost?" I told her the truth, "not a lot". "Well, you look boss in that car! Enjoy it."

You bet I will. It's rained the last two days, so it's just sitting in my garage.

As far as the intake....I suppose I'll get to it eventually. While the sound is glorious, it'd be better if it added more than a token amount of whp.

Oh, I bought an S2k model on eBay last week for my office. It joins my RL and 3G TL 1:18 models.

Here it is--CLICK

I think we've all been commented to while cruising with the top down.

I have a 1:18 NFR AP1 model

The intake does reduce the engine bog in the 2000-2003's I guess with the added torque in the 2004+ it might not be a problem.

I miss my s2000 which I had to sell four years ago, but do plan on getting an 04 shortly.

If anyone is in the market for a very well kept clean 07. One of my good friends here in Shreveport, La is selling his 2007 Laguna Blue Pearl S2000 w/18k miles for $24k
This is an amazing color, and he has babied it since he bought it in Dec 06.

Here is the for sale thread:

Yeah, but you have to REALLY search for it, there aren't many 2007s left. Nice car, though.

There are 5 new 07s within a 30 mile radius of me. Not saying any of them are willing to sell for $26.5k, but there are enough of them around.

Well, this thread is really tickling me to ditch my TL and get S2000 right now. It seems like AZ folks are getting great deals on them lately.....

There's a brand new one at Weir Canyon Honda, and its about 5 mins away from my house. GOD SHOULD I DO IT!?

Doooooo eeeeeeeeet........though if you can afford it, you should keep the TL as well for those times you need a back seat. If you must have only one car....well, at least the S will keep you entertained.

How much they go for 'round here. Would love it but price seems a bit steep.

I don't need another car though, it's just that summer is around the corner and this thread makes it sooooo tempting.
