Was in a S2000 for the first time last Thursday. I have to admit, I was a bit spoiled by the Kraftwerks Supercharger and aftermarket coilovers during the ride.

But now.. I WANT ONE OMFG. That thing pulled so hard damnit and handled like a champ.

The best form of traction control is the unbeatable combination of your tires and your right foot. Without smart choices in BOTH of those, you might end up wrapping your car around a tree, rain or shine.

I don't have an S2000 but I do have a car that puts out 300/300 to the rear wheels... without any sort of traction control. Its my first RWD car, period, and I've managed to keep it away from trees.... so far.

I may drive like an idiot sometimes, but its only in situations that I'm perfectly comfortable with.

And post pics of your S2000 after you pick her up!

A TL-S is a great car. Its fun to drive and comfortable. But there's nothing like an S2000 for the price.... excellent handling, its fun as hell but too hardcore/impractical for some. Best way to find out if its for you is to drive it yourself and think about overnight at least.... I assume you did already?

I did test drive the car but it was hot and sunny, either way i dont want the tl i wont get it. My parents use my car on ocasion and if i get the s2k they wont be able to drive it thats the biggest problem. It came out yesterday right as i was going to honda.

Is your earlier S2K quote for a lease or buy?

Cause if those payments are to buy, while the TL-S payments are to lease...easy choice.

Also, you're only this young for so long before you HAVE to get a more practical car...be impractical while you can and once the S2K is paid off, keep it and buy something with 4-doors!

Great advice! Not many will be laying on their death bed saying "having the convertible/sports car in my late teens/twenties was a terrible idea," in fact I think it will be the exact opposite.

+2 on the great advice. If you don't have to wait like I did to own a fun car like the S.....don't. I wish I'd gotten a similar car when I was a young whippersnapper like you. Now I'm a ....but at least I am able to die saying I owned an S!

Also....once it's paid off, def. keep it and get a four-door, then you'll have the best of both worlds.

I agree with this.. I sold my s and now have a TL.. i wish I wouldve kept the s, paid it off and bought the TL.. that wouldve been perfect.. now I have to pay off the tl and then get an s.. argh..

I'd look for a '02-'03. They added a glass rear window and other minor things. The plastic rear window breaks too easily when it's cold.

Do you have multiple vehicles on the policy? That sounds really low for full coverage. Or it could be our different locations....

For things like multiple cars, being married, owning a house, good credit, over 25, college graduate, driving like Captain Slow ... You'd be surprised how many discounts you can get.

I do drive like Captain Slow, I've never been issued a moving violation, my credit score is around 825 - and I still get corn holed, I'm certainly not getting married any time soon, at least just to save a few hundred bucks. I'm planning on moving roughly 1000 miles away in around 10 months so no point buying a house before I go. I even shopped around and all reputable insurance companies quoted similar prices.

Yeah, I'm still on my parent's policy so there are multiple cars and properties on the policy.

wow alex that's really low.

anyways checked out an 00 (yeah first year of production... ) with 24,000 miles. 2 older women drivers. of course never modified. $14,000. kbb excellent is about the price. a few dings and scratches as expected. crappy silverstone color. Probably going for white after i find what bumper/lip i want and red sparco/recaro seats + jdm navi bezel + new rear window (glass)

anyways 2000 w/ 24,000 miles for $14,000 how does that sound? anything i should look for?

I got my S2k back again from my friend...The lease is up in the beginning of November. When I first got into it again, the first thing I did was complain to my friend about wtf he did to the clutch because it felt worn as shit. He said that's how it was and is. He was right...I got so used to the clutch/shifter on the GTI I forgot how totally different the S2k feels to drive. It took me about a week to get used to the S2k again, now after driving it for about 3 weeks, I'm used to it now, and then I drove my GTI for the first time since getting the S2k back and I can't drive it for shit again. Why can't they make the clutch/shifters between Jap and Euro cars feel the same? The clutch engagement point on the S2k is very high up/late, almost completely up, while the clutch on my GTI is very early and low down. The S2k has a bit more of a stiffer feel when pushing in/pulling off, while my GTI now feels wayy too light. Amazing how a few weeks makes such a difference. Sitting low down in the S2k, I jumped back in the GTI and had to readjust my seating position (even though it was never adjusted by anyone since I last drove it) because i'm so used to the S2k...Anywho I got bored the other day and took this pic...and YES, it's KM/H

I pay $720 a year. Then again, I'm "old" (40), good record, excellent credit, three cars, a house, and my business insurance all with the same company.

@ Shoofin...nice shifter comparo. The S2k's clutch engagement point is indeed rather high.

My brother's using my S2k today, took it down to the Jersey Shore for the weekend...Boy do I miss my GTI...after driving it today, I got a little more used to it, but sorry guys, I think I like the power of the 2.0T a little better than that screaming engine in the S2k...Don't get me wrong, I love winding it, I just don't get the chance to do it often enough

I know summer is almost over but I still have the S2k itch .

I might bite on this one

05 S2k Silver/Black 21k miles and the dealers is asking 17,500 for it, the only problem is that its a 1000 miles away from me

End of summer is the best time to buy... People up here will want to get rid of the verts before they have to store them away for the winter...

That's an excellent price for a AP2... 05's with that kinda mileage are usually in the $20-22K range...

I bought mine in December on the first day it snowed, they were very happy to unload the car, and since my brother bought one too and I traded in an AWD sedan to them it was a great deal and I felt the same.
