Haha, I had pretty good luck with my Jetta Sportwagon. I'd still have it if I had gotten the TDI. The 2.5 is a pile of poop.

My dad has a 2005 Mustang V6 and hasn't had any issues. Although it's basically built like a pickup truck

I'm going to put the G37 on the list. I don't want to pay what cars like the 2011+ IS-F are going for

 

My bro in law had a 2005 Mustang GT for a long time without any issues. I think they are generally pretty reliable.

The new one feels much more modern though. I just loved it.

A G37 feels a little outdated at this point. You will want a new car in couple years again if you get that. I promise you that. lol

 

That's good to know. In the $33-35k range, there aren't a whole lot of choices for what I'm looking for. There's plenty if I want a very nice, reliable sedan with all the comfort and technology features. But I'm not ready to get one of those just yet

CM - what about something like an Audi TT/TT-S (slightly used)? Would make a nice companion to the Accord, and your wheels would probably fit! The second generations are significantly less girly (don't like using that word, but you know that I mean).

I mean if you don't track your car nor rarely take your car to the limit, I don't see a reason for you to spend almost $7k extra for the R over GTI.

I've thought about them. The TT-S is a good car but good ones are a bit out of my price range right now.

I don't want another FWD car. I'd prefer AWD and while I won't be tracking the R, it sounds like it's a great car to drive. That said, the day I look at the R, I will be driving a GTI too.

Here's the thing, the R base is about $37k. A loaded GTI with the lighting package, performance package, and DCC is about $35k.

So while the R doesn't have Fender or Navigation like the GTI does, the cars aren't that far apart. But it could be that the PP is so good that I don't need the R's AWD to enjoy driving it.

But this is a car I want to keep a long time ... I'm tired of wasting money on rotating cars. So I feel like getting the car I want is worth the extra $$

 

Apparently the 4C I was gonna check out was sold immediately. The next one they will get is also sold, but I got a chance for me to see it on Friday before the owner picks it up. I don't think I've ever wanted a car this bad.. Everything about it is literally perfect.

You should definitely test drive them back to back, yes. And don't kid yourself, you always need to get the PP. That applies for every car on the market.

I'm just scared to buy a VW and keep it for a long time. Too many of my GTI friends got completely burned by their reliability. They had to sell their cars for really low price. But then, our Avant has been trouble free til now, so that has helped my trust in that group a bit. Not sure how associated VW and Audi reliability though.

It's quite the zippy fun car...and VWs were never that "cheap" to start with...at least not compared to their immediate competition IMO.

Upkeep of VWs can be pricey, I agree. I have some friends who own VWs and they have at times complained about the $$ they had to shell out for maintenance and etc.

 

I checked out the 2015 GTI at the Charlotte Auto Show yesterday and fell in love. The seats are very comfortable and supportive with great side bolsters, everything felt high class, plenty of rear seat and cargo room, along with a silky smooth 6-speeed.

The real shock was that my fiancee liked it It was the Autobahn Package; sticker price $32k.

Sadly the Golf Sportwagen wasn't there

 

Oh I know it's a fun car for sure. I cross-shopped it with my MS3. The higher sticker price on it was one of the factors that I went with MS3 over it. But man, it has gotten even higher with the newer generation I guess. That's too much for a FWD hatchback. haha

 

$32k is a lot of money. But it's been reviewed as the best car for the money you can buy. Gets good fuel economy when not pushed hard, is a great drive (for a FWD), and has all kinds of technology on it previous ones didn't.

But, $35k is a lot for a completely loaded GTI. Even if it's finally as good as the German ones.

 

Yeah. It seems pretty expensive.

 

Well, with market adjustments, you have to expect increases in MSRP. But I know what you mean.

I saw the new GTI in person last Saturday as well and it looked pretty nice. The differences over the last generation might not be huge, but they're definitely noticeable (like the 911 991 vs 997). Honestly though, I'd probably get an STi or Evo instead, but I've never had seat time with the new GTI or STi. GTI is probably a better DD then both however.

 

I wish the new WRX offered a hatchback configuration.

I also wish it didn't look like a fucking Corolla

I've driven the new GTI and the previous generations.. it was just okay. Not sure which trim I had driven it but CM said it can get up to $35k..

I'm certainly not paying $35k for a freaking loaded GTI.

I thought it looked like a fucking Corolla when it was released just looking at the images.

But it looks REALLY good in person! That would be my choice around $30k budget, if I'm going for a turbo AWD hatch.

It was really comfortable and much more spacious than I expected. The GTI still won me over though

 

I wouldn't care about any details on the new WRX/STI good or bad, if it had the wide body look as the previous models
I'll trade the BRZ if a wider body looking hatch comes out maybe

And 1 out of 10 of them blows the turbo, too much powah haha

 

I like the non-STi WRX, but honestly looks like an economy car on steroids. I think the older WRX, Focus ST, GTI, etc.. look much more upscale. I like the STi, but I don't care for the interior that much. I would still probably buy one though. I looked at the regular WRX when I was shopping, and the interior and exterior turned me off completely. I still whatever the top trim EVO is the most.

 

They had a batch of bad turbos. Supposedly fixed now.

as much shit as i talked about the new WRX/STI Sedan. It looks a lot better in person. It does not look like the boy racer car anymore.

i think for $25k, you can't do much better than a WRX sedan.
