And I don't hate the ILX styling. I do think the TSX is better though; you know, because of the aerodynamic mirrors and superior ground clearance.
Don't forget the tires and the placement of the nav screen.

What about something like a GTI? Decent mileage (when you're not hooning it out), good hauling capacity behind the hatch, and a good time on the twisties when you get the chance and the inclination.

Lease a 2014 Mazda3i Hatch? I drove one just before Christmas & was surprised how peppy it is with the 155hp 2.0 & a 6MT.

I freaking loved GTI when I was shopping for my MS3.

I ended up getting a MS3. Recommended a GTI to two of my friends after.....

Both of them bought the GTI and hated it because it was giving them so much problems. Both took a big hit and traded them for something else after 2 years.

After that I never recommend it to anyone else.

It's funny because I'm not worried about my wife's Avant at all, but I'm super skeptical about VW reliability, especially GTI and R. Probably just had couple bad luck on them.

Well, that makes no sense. If you have faith in your Audi, you should have faith in VW. And there are a number of peeps with VWs on AZ...none have ranted on problems to my knowledge.

Good cars, esp. the Golfs.

Thought about it. I only like the new models, but I don't want to get another brand new car. The lease deals on them aren't spectacular either, and buying used is over my budget. I'm hoping to pay cash for a daily, I don't want another car note.

I've honestly toyed with the idea of going with a tiny hatch like the Ford Fiesta ST or Chevy Sonic LTZ Turbo, but it would be weird if my grocerie getter is faster than the weekend car

Realistically speaking though, I really don't want a turbo motor. I'd prefer to stay NA for the sake of reliability.

Costco - You mentioned this in Aarons thread; RSX Type S. That's another contender (that I completely forgot existed).

How new is "new"? I looked on AutoTrader (see how I look out for you?) and you can get 2007-2009 in that price range.

2010+, the updated front end. The pre-facelift is meh. Also, turbo motor. And I'm leary about turbo'd, used GTIs as far as reliability is concerned.

Dude, in my defense, I don't regret that decision because I bought a FUN CAR.

You passed up M3 for a SEA CREATURE.

HA!

And an M3 is NOT a fun car?!??

And correction, Kimchi: I passed up an X5d for a sea cucumber. GET IT RIGHT!

The M3 opportunity passed awhile ago...that was back in 2002.

photo by my dad, taken in 1980.

I am going to give an explanation of why I am posting this here since people seem to have trouble with that and get very concerned about my intentions.

I am posting this photo here because it is an interesting photo and being car guys you might be interested to see the cars in it.

I actually really, really like the look of the ILX. Has very clean lines and everything just "fits" IMO. Only problem is that the TSX is only like 2k more.. And the ILX has a McPherson front suspension whereas ths TSX has a Double Wishbone.. Having driven both the TSX feels noticably better.

Cute is not an adjective you often hear that is paired with the ILX...but, there's a first for everything!
