General Car Talk Discussion Thread
Unrelated to my car search, VW announced a Passat "concept" called the Passat Bluemotion.
It's got a 1.4L TSI engine that gets 42mpg. It's a 4-cylinder with cylinder deactivation so that it becomes a two-cylinder on the highway.
If that MPG is accurate, that's really impressive for a car with 150 HP and 184 lb-ft.

CMWelcome Bruce, We have a dedicated forum for the 3GTL for stuff like this, Please feel free to check it out and once a mod in this forum sees this, it can be moved over there for better feedback.

Looks pretty to me.
Will probably be around $35k.

The last Golf Arrrrrrr 4 door started at $34,590. The 2 door was $33,990. This one has 30hp more and a better AWD system.
There is a way, with software modification of course. But it can be done.

Yes, wheels, tires, and taillights from factory are horrendous. I wonder what that blue one is lowered on.
Have you tried that dealer in Colorado? They've been selling below MSRP and shipping to you shouldn't be too much more. They've shipped cars to a lot of forum members and they've all been very happy with their purchase.

These guys:
Not sure. The one on the right? Saw couple at the dealership.
By the way, email this dealership in CO. They sell cars nationwide. Their delivery fee is pretty damn low too. They quoted me the lowest price. A lot of ft86 forum members buy from them.

Interesting decisions.
I do like the way it looks. And that interior is nice. I'd like to drive one, just for fuck's sake.

So Im still on the prowl for a solid daily driver. It seems as though every IS300 Sportcross I've come across has had some sort of an issue that was a deal breaker. And I'm kind of thinking that picking one up to drop an LSx and T56 into wouldn't be much of a daily, it would be a project car, and I need to separate those as much as possible. Daily driving a project is never a good idea if you have things to do and places to be - like work.
The latest car that's been going through my mind (that I completely forgot even existed tbh) is the 7.5G Accord sedan with the V6 and 6MT. I found a one owner CBP over black leather '06 with navi (my top combination) in NC for $11.4k. I'm very familiar with that chassis as we had three in the family, and I know the motor and tranny quite well, too.
Right about now I'm missing the CL; not because the car was necessarily good, but because I would much prefer to keep the FR-S in the garage during the cold weather months/nasty weather. Heated seats are missed though.
Here are my options:
It needs to have a manual and get upwards of 30mpg on the highway while still being quick enough to keep up with traffic. I'd prefer a sedan, and I'd love a wagon. I just want something that I can simply do routine maintenance on and drive on a daily basis. Thoughts? Suggestions?

- I've thought about the V70R/S60R - gas mileage is garbage.
- I've thought about an E46 Touring - rear subframe scares me, as does owning a 10yr old Bimmer that may or may not have been cared for properly.
- I've thought about an ILX - the 2.4l 6MT doesn't have any good lease deals, and I refuse to pay nearly $400 a month for it.
- I've also thought about getting an old Civic or Integra. I'd prefer an Integra GS-R sedan. I really wish I was able to pick up Slys when it was for sale

Here are my options:
- Spend up to $12k for a newer daily with all the creature comforts I want.
- Spend up to $7k for a decent mid to late '90s Honda, and deal with potential issues (high revving motor and oil seals concern me with the GS-R)

So, one of my friends bought a new Corolla S. It's a fully loaded one. It looks pretty good from the front, especially with Xenon light on. The interior is pretty good too, has navi/back up camera and a lot of goodies. It was $22k OTD. So cheap.
He wants to buy a set of springs and rear sway bar for it. I can't find anything online.

When they did their commercials for Christmas, a $200/mo lease sounded pretty good for something that got decent mileage, has a 6MT, and decent power.
Until I realized that the model that had the $200/mo lease didn't have a 6MT or decent power.
And I don't hate the ILX styling. I do think the TSX is better though; you know, because of the aerodynamic mirrors and superior ground clearance.
What would you suggest? If it's a Hyundai, I swear....
