General Car Talk Discussion Thread
God, that rear end...
Yum, are you in Detroit?
Acura can build a good looking TL. They can build a well-performing TL. They can build a fun to drive TL (6MT). But they can't build a TL that has all 3!?
You think they'd sell enough to offset development costs, though? Only those of us who want Honda to be better would buy one. Most Infiniti/BMW owners wouldn't jump ship IMO.

I need advice/opinions. Been trying to sell my 2006 GMC Canyon with 153k and some dents/dings and rebuild status for a while now as it doesnt make sense for commuting to/from school. Bought for $5k and was hoping to get at least $6k (reasonable for the market up here) with no luck. Today a guy offered a straight up trade for a 2005 civic si coupe 5 speed with 164k. I'm tempted, but not convinced yet. The car looks clean in the pictures he sent but I'd have to see it first obviously. Do you guys think this would be a good trade? I figure at the very least itd be an easier sell than a beat up pickup truck in a place where gas costs nearly $6/gallon most of the year. Plus 5 speed and cheaper to run (insurance alone on the truck costs me $240/month...)
Must be nice...

Not too sure. I think those are Audi S-line rims. May have to look around the trading section in Audizine or something. But I have seen that set on Avant before. Looks so clean with 1 inch drop.
I looked around a bit last night and found some in the low 5's and some with crazy low mileage for 8500 at a local dealer, so price wise it's about the same. I may try to squeeze some cash out of the guy on top of the trade though to be safe
Okay...if the price is about the same, I think you're gaining a very fun car. So, good trade overall. The key is to make sure everything's in working order. I'd make sure you have a good mechanic inspect the vehicle.
Thanks man
Yumcha are you at NAIAS? Is the public allowed to see the TLX or was it a press day car only? Have you seen the M4 yet? Remember the last time I went to NAIAS 2-3 years ago to see the 918.. Ended up being there only on press day.
How much does a engine swap usually cost? with engine included.
K20 to Civic hatch?
Since s2000 is too expensive to buy as a toy now. I am thinking getting a 2000 Civic Hatch and put K20 in it.

I am not going to attempt to piss out a number that I vaguely remember but just know it's not horrid...unless you're like, after a BMW S70/2...then, well, sell your house, life, kidneys, and maybe your next life too.
Yummy, this guy has gone personal on me! Ban him?

Yeah, I recall it wasn't bad. And it's from living up here in Canadark where all the cars are pick-ups and SUVs.
If oonowindowwasher is doing the swap himself, he can probably do it for $1100 tops...the joy out of the K20 engine? Priceless. Everything else, there's Master Card.
