General Car Talk Discussion Thread

So, Germans don't seem to mind some subtlety...and that's fine. Otherwise, get a Z06. THAT sure stands out differently than stock.

BUT, BUT...for the M3...and I've seen it a few times already (not impressed BTW), some yeehaws out there are taking 335s and slapping on M3 badges thinking they can get away with it.
Of course, I'm the same guy who created a thread over in 3G about putting "Type-S" badges on base TLs, so I think it's pretty obvious I'm not a fan of such shenanigans.
Still no excuse!
Although, back when I owned the CL, I really should've ripped off my Acura badge and slapped on Mercedes-Benz emblems and get everyone to think I'm baller and driving a l33t, one-of-kind Mercedes CL-Class car.
Would've definitely gotten them cougars and bishes.

on both countsUnfortunately I don't know where the Astra would fit in GM's current lineup, let alone a VXR variant. They know better, not many people here would buy one.
wow. Porsche has gone off the deep end. the as-tested price for the 2014 911 Carrera S in this comparison test is - $148,245
what the actual hell.

He thinks I'm a domestic fanboy. In reality I just can't stomach the pricing of the Deutsche Big 3. I love the cars they make. But as they're closer to the reality of ownership than say, a Poopdick, their inherent drawbacks come to light as well. We go back and forth a lot, to say the least.
The Vantage was never quite able to beat the 911 (at least until the V12 was crammed in) but I would love to see what the F-Type S at $77k does against the $84K Carrera.
There's a buddy of mine who is all about German makes... has a Cayman himself.

)...But, don't go meandering into the TL sub-jungle and say that or you're gonna get a hurt real bad.

But, that's just me. Still, the Jaguar is gorgeous and in this case, it's a very hard pick if the $ difference was not a factor.
I know the S was never cheap, I am more baffled by the possibility that it can be optioned out to cost the same as a 997 Turbo. And, if you recall the 991 Turbo S is going for close to $200k. For comparison that is about what the 2008 GT2 went for.
I haven't had a chance to hear a F-Type S or F-Type V8 yet in that type of setting but the video of the F-Type Coupe R was every bit as good.
(apologies for the stupid Youtube commercials)

Wouldn't we all, charlie...wouldn't we all.

I've always said this: whoever said $$$$ does not buy happiness, obviously doesn't know how to drive. Probably walks everywhere.
thanks for the refresher with the Chris Harris comparo vid - the 911 in that video is a cool $160k. But, after watching the video again (its been a while) - it makes me ponder, maybe the $ is justified for a 2014 model Porsche? I do think that yes, it's justified. Also when you think of things like inflation, etc. etc.

So, in regards to those darned Germans........
