Sworn off Mazdas (perhaps unfairly) after the rusting fiasco with the wife's Mazda3. It was under warranty but it was repaired 4 times and still, rust. Mazda was being stupid and not addressing the problem directly.

Anyhow...it's too bad cuz I like the looks of their cars.

Must have been a bad driver. I remember when the ST first came out, I think it was R&T that tested it and ended up getting a 14.9 in the 1/4 mile. Compared to the time slips I've seen, that's not even close to real world. Owners were able to get low 14 seconds in stock form without much trouble. With a tune and a few bolt-ons, high 13 seconds is achievable.

Seriously considering a M3s GT hatch to replace my TL when they start building them with a 6MT.

There's a guy on 190Rev that has one in yellow. Done right, they can look good. Wheels are one of the hard parts to get, from the dealer at least. VIN required for purchase. I believe one of the ML models had very similar wheels to the Evo II that some use for a cheaper alternative.
There are a few vendors that do reproduction kits for the body parts.

2.3-16, last I was looking, are still pulling decent prices. Upward of $10k with low mileage & with a working/non-bled-out stopwatch.

I can just imagine the wine party conversations:

"So what's in your garage these days?"
"Got a Scuderia, a 500, an F1 car, and I just picked up a mint-condition camel from Arabia. Single-hump, four-hoof-drive. Shit's awesome."

Yeah, back when I was really looking for either a 2.3-16 or a '93 2.6 Sportline LE, I was really active on 190Rev. I don't remember how much it was per wheel, but since you had to have a VIN to get them new, used was about the only route for authentic EvoII wheels.

I believe the Evo I used the same wheels as the R129 SL.

But, if I had one, I'd want either Evo IIs or these:

Not surprising as it's a similar case trying to get parts for the CSL M3s as well.

Small soft spot for the C12. Only ever seen 1 & that was probably a decade ago. Callaway says only 25 were ever made, and only the roof & greenhouse from the C5 remained.

Surprisingly, RAC at its old location had 2-3 of these pass through their doors.

Those overhangs, man. It looks like a dead ringer for a kit car. I'm not even a person who critiques overhangs, but sheesh.

Agreed.

srika's answer aside, wasn't the camel a hint? As soon as I saw the house style and camel, this popped into my head

Yeah, it was a hint, but I didn't want to make any assumptions...people get touchy about stereotypes.
