That sucks...but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Save screen caps off all his pages with dates of these jobs he's getting...print them and take them with you.
Does GA have some sort of labor board you can file with such as CA? or do you just have to take him to small claims?

I have printouts from facebook messaging of him flat out saying that he owes me the money and the amount. Going to do what you said and take screenshots of him posting new work as well, thanks for that idea!
Other than that, I'll have the bride and groom write up something since they got hosed from him as well (no albums and no refund for 2nd photographer). That should cover me if he says something like he doesn't know what I'm talking about.
I have to take him to small claims in VA. So I had to go up there to file and will have to go back on the 27th for court.

Always good to cover your bases...Sadly, Ive been around this block more than once.
Once was YEARS ago with a small indie movie...no one got paid for the last week...I took them to the labor board, won, went through another 3 years of waiting as they filed for bankruptcy (and we had a class action suit at that point) Finally got a check for half of what I was owed...thankfully at that time I was never in NEED of the money, It was more the for principle of it.
Last time was a couple months ago. Idiot producer tried to breach my contract and thought he scare me and out muscle me...He was very wrong and I received the check a few days after my lawyer sent him a very matter of fact letter.
Im too stubborn to let any of this go. This last time, I had a hot fire up my ass to nail the guy...My wife said she would have just dropped it and walked away. Well, I keep every email, every text, and voicemail etc until jobs are done and paid out...and then I file what I can. I have yet to get bested by an idiot who thinks they are smarter or can play games.
It does suck at times...but its the freelance life. Well...its the super low budget freelance life. Usually agreements are honored with no problems. And when I do big budget, its never an issue as there is payroll.
I found a great idea for a stealth camera bag on POTN. My total cost was about $60. I think it will be great for being low key at night in Boston

If you're in DC this sounds like a cool event: http://blogs.loc.gov/picturethis/201...graphy-meetup/
I've taken some photos at the LOC on their open houses, but this seems like it'll be a much smaller crowd and a fantastic opportunity to shoot an amazing building.

Here's a random question for you all...
My parents are going on an Alaskan cruise next month. They're stopping by my place in DC one the way, and I'm going to give my dad my 50D for him to take on the trip, but I don't know what lens(es) to give him. I can give him the EF-S 17-55 2.8, EF 28 1.8, and/or the 70-200 2.8L IS. I'd rather just give him the 17-55, but I'm not sure if he'll miss the reach.
The other option is to go to Calumet and rent something else. Any suggestions?

He's had a film SLR, so he knows the basics.I'm pretty sure they'll also bring their ~4 year old Sony P&S... which is why I also want them to have something nicer.
So I get a text message from the photographer that I'm suing that he is sending full payment via FedEx and gave me a tracking number. I'm at home waiting for it since I have to sign for it
Guess he got served and realized I wasn't bluffing! We'll see how everything goes with the payment though.

according to their website its 14 acres now. I'm gonna head out and try and get some magic hour/sunset pics. Bribed the family into taking the 4 hr round trip with the promise of great ice cream.
well.......that was a total waste of time. At least the ice cream there was good.
I havent shot in far too long, and it really showed. I was extremely rusty and didnt get a single shot that was even worth processing. Sunset was pretty boring too, all the clouds disappeared about 15 minutes before the sun went down. After I packed up and started to leave I saw that dusk was amazing with the moon in view, but I was already tired and had a 2+ hour ride home still. Oh well
