FINALLY booked the wedding photographer. www.melissakoren.com
good question, she says 4-8 weeks turnaround time. I'm guessing that she likely hasnt done many weddings over the winter? Its not her full time job, so its entirely possible. She does a fair amount of graduation and baby work too. I was referred to someone with similar style on POTN, but she was booked, she gave me Melissa's name. $1675 for 5 hours with a high res disk. Seems to be the low average for a decent photographer.

well, it was an event that was partly indoors but mostly on a rooftop lounge - but it was during daylight and they had the roof open, so you had those two differing lighting areas. That made it tough to get the exposure right with the flash on the 5D and 7D. So, I had to spend time trying to get the formula 'right' on those cameras, and while I came up with something that worked, with the GF1 I had to do nothing - I just point and shoot. And most of the shots came out nice. It made my job very easy to do. I like challenges but when you're in a client situation and you need to deliver quickly, there isn't the time or place to be fidgeting with controls trying to get the lighting right. And that's where the GF-1 shined.
hey, when I'm on the clock, I want it to be easy so I can be as efficient as possible. and, that's great. but if I'm doing it for my own personal reasons (i.e. to really enjoy myself), give me the full manual control any day of the week.
I figured out why her work is so far behind. It just dawned on me that her website is completely different than when I initially looked at it. Its more bloglike now, where it was a normal website with everything categorized a few weeks ago. Shes still setting it up.
found this on another forum, 12 year old autistic boy who is into photography. Like him if youre on facebook.

I also forgot, she might have a customer clause that doesn't allow her to share photo shoots for six months as well.
hmm.. interesting, just noticed that my college is still using photos that i took and submitted to the media relations manager on the athletics website. this was 4 years ago.
congrats Ken!
I used to make monthly sales (a few)... until sometime last year when they made a big overhaul to their licensing agreements. Basically they started letting in a sh*tload of images, so now it's like all over the place. And many of the images that were being licensed had a new type of royalty-free license, I'm not sure exactly what that's about but it was quickly noticeable as I wasn't making anymore sales. I think I've only sold one in the past year
I had a Brooke Shaden workshop yesterday. The topic was compositing and storytelling. She kinda walked through her process and then shot several different concepts with a model. I really enjoyed it - it taught me a lot about the creative process. I would highly recommend it. She also talked a bit about the business side, particularly about getting into the galleries, pricing fine art, etc.
I cant wait to edit my photos. This is such a busy week for me though. I was also the only dude in the class which felt a bit odd but I could handle it.

crazy... I had done those Smokey and the Bandit shots over the weekend with a friend's 5D2 (the owner of the R8), so I was working on a photo now and doing some HDR-ish type processing on this single frame and was happy with the heightened detail and color reproduction / range, and then I remembered I had also taken some single frames with my 5D, and this was one of them. And so then I was like, wow ok this is pretty nice for 5D! And after working on it some more... it dawned on me that this was the GF-1...
not that anyone cares...

I just got this message from Getty Images:
