finally........... more control over images sizes.

http://blog.flickr.net/en/2012/05/03...r-pro-members/
Introducing two new photo sizes and a new setting for Pro members
When it comes to viewing photos, bigger is so much better. Today’s high resolution screens let you explore the details of an image better than ever. That’s why we’re very excited to introduce two new photo sizes, 2048 and 1600 pixels. They are already available in the lightbox and will be rolled out to the API and a few other places over the next couple of weeks.
Large sizes + Low compression = Beautiful photos
You may notice that your photos look better on Flickr. When resizing your photos for display, we use less compression than a lot of other sites to make sure that all the details are there and that the color is true. The care we take with your photos along with the new sizes that are ready for today’s (and tomorrow’s) displays make sure that your photos will always look great on Flickr.
Your images in the lightbox yesterday:

Your images in the lightbox starting today:

New size display control for Pro members
Pro members that want control over how large their images are displayed, have a new Image size setting that lets them set a maximum display size. With this new setting Pro members can upload their original full resolution image and still have control over what is shown to the world.

The new sizes are available for all photos that you have uploaded since March 1st. For each photo we are generating the two new 2048 pixels and 1600 pixels sizes (unless the uploaded image is smaller on the longer side). These new larger image sizes will make your photos look even more stunning on Flickr.

For more information check out our FAQ, and please let us know in the help forum if you find any bugs or have feedback to share with us.

I got a 'gift' from my late grandfather. A 1978 copy of a Russian made zenit-e. It was a special edition made for the Moscow Olympics. All the mechanics work but the light meter is not providing correct readings. This thing is totally manual... The lens had a problem with the aperture ring that I fixed with a bit of effort and a screwdriver. It is built like a Russian tank.

I loaded a roll of film in it and will post anything interesting I get.

I want to get a P&S too, but I want the canon S100 or the G1X.

Wireless I don't have to worry about since I have eye-Fi..

For diving I'd get the water proof case from canon. Can go down to 40M.

the only thing is... this Fuji P&S is only $280 MSRP, so maybe even cheaper street price. It'd be more or less for just random quick shots, like "Ooh, look at that Ferrari!" kind of stuff. Nothing serious. Nothing to worry about scratches or whatever. Basically all the things I'd do with my cell phone camera, but with better IQ. And with my Galaxy Nexus, it can hotspot wifi...

If you had a iPhone4s you wouldn't need a p&s.

well played, but there are a lot of other things my Galaxy Nexus (out of the box w/o customizing) can do that the iPhone can't.

Ohh I know, that is one thing holding me back from getting the G1X, it costs $800 and the S100 $387

But yea I want to get one to just throw around when I don't want to lug my 1ad around.

All I need it to do is make phones call, email, text and take pictures. Does that better than anything else out there.

Web browsing, posting in forums for me (like right now), the #1 reason for me to like Android over iPhone is Swype, it's the ONLY way I'll type, I can type faster one handed with one thumb vs most people two handed, until the day Swype decides to go multiple OS, i won't even consider the iPhone, and then there's all the other things i can do straight from the phone NOT having to use a computer.

Someone used a photo of mine without permission. They attributed the photo to me with a photo credit but I did not give them permission - they pulled it from flickr. It made me wonder - do I have my settings wrong on Flickr for my Privacy and Permissions?

I also see all kinds of my photos shown in freeimagefinder.com if I do a google image search for my name.

Has anyone else experienced this? If you are in the know can you look at my flickr page www.flickr.com/jlatimer

A bunch of my photos come up in certain Google searches, but i don't really care. And then there's that pixel-peeper.com, there's got to be at least 20 of my photos there, and no, i didn't submit any of them

Yeah, I have seen the pixel peeper stuff too. That and some of the image search sites are pretty clear on the source of their images being flickr. The freeimagefinder one kinda concerns me.

Ive been spending a good deal of time in the past few days looking for a wedding photographer who A. shoots in a style that I prefer, and B. isnt 17 kabillion dollars since I'm trying to do this on a budget. Quite a pain in the ass for someone who knows about photography Ive found.

Some of the people Ive seen are downright horrible, cant believe they call themselves a photographer, nevermind wedding photographer! One guy posted in a thread looking for an inexpensive photog that he would do it, and linked to his "site" I'd throw my camera in the water if I wasnt able to do better than what I saw, one of the first pictures on the site was 100% OOF, I feel bad for anyone that would hire some of these knuckle heads.

Found one younger kid thats close and I really like his work, hopefully hes not too expensive, but I would be if I was putting out the work Ive seen of his.

Dancer, wanna come shoot in exchange for a train ticket (round trip in your own cattle car) and all the plankton you can filter?

I think I was chatting with Jonathan (asianspec) one night on Facebook and told him that sometimes just for kicks, I like going through Craigslist's photographer's for hire. I've seen some decent stuff (because most will have a link to their website) but OMG... a lot of them are just down right terrible. There was this one guy that posted a bunch of his sample photos in his site, apparently all the photos were from one wedding (probably the ONLY wedding he's ever shot), he had the bride/groom, bridal party in direct sunlight (looked like it was high noon), eyes squinting in every photo lol. There was also a spot constantly on every photo, apparently he had a dirty sensor and either didn't even notice it or he doesn't do any PP to remove it

...but I believe this one is by far one of the worst (see link below)... not only is his work suck, but the website is like from the 90s

(as in "A Better DJ" but I think he changed it, it used to be something like "abetterphotographeranddj.com" as in "A Better Photographer and DJ"... lol @ the irony)

Proud Father!

My 3 yr old adjusting the focus on his film SLR because "Daddy is too rough" I'm amazed how fast he picked up on using it. Now time to throw some film in it and see what he can do!

yeah, I can imagine the grip while having its benefits makes the camera pretty cumbersome at times, much like that 1Dc that I bought a while back was
