Acura: TLX News

I know right....
I was thinking the TSX is gonna be entry level, TLX mid level and then RLX....
I have no idea why Acura is not making their line up more powerful and just cutting down on cars....
BMW has like 7 series of cars and 2 of them have 'grand coupes' and the RWD and AWD and different engine sizes and finally the M....same with Audi, same with MB....
I know this has been mentioned before but Acura is just committing suicide and making a horrible attempt at that

Yea, the 3GTL came about. Then they made a great 4th Gen car BUT they decided to change the front 5 point grille to an abomination and have continued to tell them selves every year, well if we tweak it a little more it will look good with the same results Someone high up needs to have a design contest to come up with a different corporate look.

With the way Acura is going, Honda should just kill the brand, save the Big $$$$. Consolidate the MDX & RLX (with a new design of course) under the Honda name.
In short: Be like Hyundai. (see Genesis & Equus)
If you are not going to compete with the big boys, why waste all the money on extra dealerships, and an entire corporate structure for a brand that is become less and less relevant as the years go by.

Whenever I see that gen of Integra I start to choke up. I never thought it was ugly or weird when it first came out. I always liked it, I liked the quad headlamps style, the low sleek silhouette. That was back in Acuras had front overhangs that didn't even matter because the car was good overall you could overlook it. Now a front overhang is just among the various penalty points for everything else you can find wrong with a new Acura.

Honda should put the RLX and the Accord under the same roof so potential buyers can have an easier time to compare the two and see how the RLX is nothing more than a "tarted up Accord" and is a poor value vs the Accord. Then we can watch RLX sales tank even more.

China
The very 1st spy shots of the 2015 Acura TLX testing in China. The Acura TLX debuted as a concept on the Detroit Auto Show last month and the production version will go on sale later this year. The TLX is a completely new car that replaces both the Acura TL and the Acura TLX.
Razor sharp headlights will make it to the production version. The Acura TLX will be powered by a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder and a 3.5 liter V6. The TLX is testing in China because Acura has big plans for the Chinese car market and thus wants to make sure the TLX behaves well on Chinese roads. The whole Acura range is currently available in China but they are all imported so prices are high and sales are very slow. The Acura TLX will be imported as well, at least initially. Local production of Acura cars will start in 2016, first car to roll off the line will be an SUV based on the Acura SUV-X concept.

But the LED foglights are available as a dealer installed option with a hefty price tag.
So the 2014 MDX can have both LED headlights and LED foglights at any trim level of both FWD and AWD models.

One thing I hate about Acura's design choices - the use of LED/HID headlights but still having halogen fog lights and amber running lights. It's almost a mix of 2001 and 2014.
Every time I see a TL coming down the road, I just think to myself "that's too bad the lights are ugly because it really could be so much better".
And then they go and do it to the RLX, too.
I understand the headlight side markers have to be amber, but why the hell do you make an amber daytime running light? Get with the times and design an LED running light. Fools.

And then here they show the lower lights as being clear...
Perhaps only the lower lights come on as running lights when the headlights are on?
Overall I am just very confused. To be fair, Acura probably is as well.

Laugh all you want about appearances, but damn I must say, after experiencing the jewel eyes in the wifey's MDX, I will never go back to basic Xenon HID projectors. The LED's are that good.
I do agree that the mix of halogens fogs is old school and not in a cool way.

RLX Hybrid and TLX will blow away a good chunk of the competition.

RedLine
After watching a bunch of 2014 Acura RLX videos, it appears that the bottom 2 amber lights are not DRLs that stay on at all times; they are only turn signals. This video shows a couple of outside shots throughout but @ ~8:30, it shows the indicators blinking:

I saw this advertisement on TV last night. Skip to 0:45 in to see the cars. Check out the lights on the RLX, especially compared to the TLX. At 0:50 in you can see the TLX, RLX, and NSX together.
The RLX has amber running lights. The TLX does not. 0:53 shows a really good view.
