It's official. After gauging public reaction, Hyundai has decided not to slap on the automaker's swoopy "H" logo onto the Genesis sedan's front grille.
Well at least THEY gauged public reaction BEFORE releasing the grill unlike ACURA!

READ THAT ACURA.... You should try that!!!

The grille isn't the problem, IMO. The RL's homely wedged shape was tweaked and the refreshed, chiseled, front end was tacked on. Of course it's going to look bad.

I'm looking at the new spy pics of the TSX and I kinda like the grille when it actually matches the rest of the car.

Actually Buick is doing better than Acura is doing lately.
Buick has a brighter future than Acura.

I like that grille better.

As I mentioned in the RL forum, it's too bad that the shape is so polarizing in a negative way, because as an ACTUAL RL owner, I can tell you that Acura DID listen to us enthusiasts and owners in the features department.

More torque....check, especially if it's at the low end, where it is sorely needed. Should be, given the higher displacement.

Cooled/heated seats...check. Why the fsck were they only available in Canada at first? That's a "WTF" question I would love answered.

Rear-biased SH-AWD now present from first gear.....check and double check.

XM Weather....check.

I love the new shifter.....extra point. It's the same shifter available in Europe, in fact, Qatar modded his RL to include this and it looks handsome.

But then I have to step out of the car.....
--Tweaked rear end....check, I like it, it matches the MDX
--Tweaked front end....

As far as the V8, I was a proponent of that too but would be willing to wait until a FMC for that. Hell, I think we're lucky we talked Acura into the J37. And until Honda perfects a 6AT, I sure as hell don't want them giving us one. "Fool me once (regarding prior 5AT failures), shame on you, fool me twice...dumber than shit."

So it's not all bad. I am hopeful that Acura will change the grille given the overwhelmingly negative reaction, which I have rarely seen for a release.

I criticize hyundai for stealing other peoples car designs and putting it into one.............however when you think about it they took all the best ideas and put it into one for a good price. Cant go wrong.

Add me to the countless people who said "WTF??"

The old RL was kind of boring, but at least it wasn't fugly.

What are they thinking?

Does anyone have an acura email address where we can send hate mail?

I really like the rear styling.

The wheels and grill really give this car a cheapen look.

the car looks better now that it's been a few days.

but the car just doesn't look like a $50k vehicle. $35k, yes.

i think the wheels make the car looks worse than the grille.

Sure, except now you're paying extra $$$$ for a car that looks pretty much like the current TL.

the interior looks every bit the part of a $50k + vehicle...the outside, even in a much nicer dark color, is just waaayy too bland. i would give it a double take because it's a new 09 model, but it would quickly disappear among the rest of the vanilla sedans on the landscape

I want some of that crack you're smoking to even ask that.

Seriously, though, there is some resemblance to the 3G TL front when you consider those vertical creases and the shape of the hood.

Well, with that modified look, it is essentially a SH-AWD-versioned TL...

So, it warrants an extra $3K maybe, tops...? Definitely not the full price of an RL.

After having seeing the car in person at the chicago autoshow, the front is still bad. It wasnt getting good reviews from the people i heard looking at it. The Rear and interior are really nice though.

Interior looks great

Exterior: FAIL

For a flagship they need to make it have more of a road presence. It looks way too unassuming & uninspiring.

looks too much like the 06-07 US Accord sedan from the front view, which isn't good. like the back though and interior. not worth $50K though or even $40K.

WTF looks like an accord. C'mon acura make a car that does not look like a rebadged Honda. Lexus finally got the idea.

I actually am falling in love with the interior and I like the rear .. but the front and wheels kill everything about the new RL IMO. When I first saw it, I thought it was the new TSX ..

I think it would kick ass given it's available with a 6-speed manual. However since that's highly unlikely, its also highly unlikely I'll be looking at a new Acura for a good while unless they pull some crap worthwhile instead of coming out with what most people would think is an Accord rebadge.
