looks like the 3G TL may become timeless. Kind of like what happened to the Legend back in 94

Clearly the designers need to be taken to task.

at least they'll be 18s.

To further improve handling and looks, new 18-inch diameter 7-spoke aluminum wheels are matched with more aggressive tires (replacing the previous 17-inch wheel/tire offering).

So the fact the power train trails most of the competition doesn't bother you?

Thats something that should bother you since looks can be argued. Less HP, gears and technology than the competition can't.

I'm not suggesting the car will perform poorly. I'm sure it will be more than adequate. But as the last 4 years have clearly proven, adequate isn't nearly enough. And as much as it can be argued that styling was the main driving factor behind poor sales, you can make the argument (and we all know its been made) that the power train is just as much to blame.

Fail....... so much for wanting to own a newer RL....
My next RL will be a 05-08. Damn, I'm very disappointed with Acura's new lineup.. But these are spy's.... so we'll see.

i think the car looks good in this angle. but i wish the grille would go.

it would look much sportier if it was all black.

problem is, because it looks soo much like the accord, it doesn't look like anywhere near a $50k car. maybe $35k.

that big grille is apparently going to be on the TL and TSX too.

from autoblog.com--"According to Honda Sales EVP Dick Colliver, the face being shown on this car will spread to the rest of the lineup as the TL and TSX sedans are redesigned later this year."

I know this design is just a face lift from what Honda did with last years model and they didn't have much time to really do something. But if this is what Acura gets from the new design studio, my 3G TL will be my last.

Honda/Acura FAILS again.
Nothing to see here...move along.

Perhaps it's time to bury Acura once and for all.
They don't know what direction they are heading. If anything they are not leading, not even following the competition...they are going backwards.
The exterior designs are horrible. The powerplant and drivetrain choices are poor.

for real.

depending on pricing, seems like that's the only thing acura has going for them.

however, if they continue to make poor designs and subpar drivetrains, people aren't even going to be interested despite the "value."

I was wondering where you were.

The powerplant and drivetrain choices are poor.
^ That can't be emphasized enough.

FYI, The 3.5L in the GS and IS makes more HP AND 4 more lb/ft.

The grill alone could be fixed with a EuroAccord grill which I'm sure will be much more tastefull - but there's nothing you can do about sheet metal.

That is a good-looking Accord, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Disgusting. Makes the current RL look like an S-Class in comparison.

Honestly, I really would like to know; what on EARTH are they smoking over there? In what way does that car look good?

I think it's clear, someone at Honda Motors in Japan needs to lose their job and so does practically everyone working for Acura in the US. I think a bunch of us could run the company better.

Ok im gonna say it, I think i kinda like it now.

Paint that silver grill bodycolor and it would look like a nicer Camry.

I like the 7series looking trunk also.

.
The days of increasing HP with every model are coming to an end - 300 HP is plenty in this class. The benefit of extra gears above 5 is insignificant - except to the marketeers. Honda can hold its own on technology - they're just at the end of a cycle now. As it is they spent a lot of coin on this MMC - tho not much to show for it.

More I see it the less I hate it as well. But clearly this car will not save/drastically improve sales. Which was supposed to be its mission.

Honda/Acura blew a ton of coin on this MMC....and have little to show for it.
Drastically improved sales are not going to happen for this version of the RL.

i don't think it looks that bad when you take out the silver on the grille. i don't like the swooped trunk.

but yea, it does look like a sharper camry SE.

my main beef is that it looks too much like the accord.

In every review I've seen of similar cars with similar power and weights, the car with that extra gear always seems to have better acceleration and better MPG. Are you suggesting the extra gear has nothing to do with that? Surely we're not seeing 6, 7 and 8 speed trannies for marketing reason's alone.

They sure don't look to be holding their own to me.

Seems like they've revised the front fascia to reflect the TL's good looks but then stuck an ugly grill on it. Seems like everything about the old rear fascia has been been revised. All of the changes make the car look less like a MMC and more like a new, longer car. Not a bad thing either. The grill is the worst feature on the car.

But there are much to like and love. The interior is still one of the best feature of the car. Loving the Seat heater/cooler control. The details on the shift knob is nice and the USB port is a welcome addition. I wonder if you can plug in a USB drive with MP3s and play it.

The grille, if you look closely came from the Sports4 concept. It works on the concept because the entire design language was edgy and futuristic looking. But it looks like S*&t when they put that grille on a car that was originally designed to be curvacious and rounded. Now the new RL looks like a Frankenstein design, with unmatched design elements stuck on to the old body.

I have 13 years of design experience so I know what I'm talking about. This design would have been torn to shread at my company on the first review.

I love Acura, I own one, but they have to stop letting engineers design their cars. They have to seriously consider developing a design language that can compete with Lexus and Infinity, let alone BMW, Mercedes, and Audi.

he should sign up to be a designer for acura. at least they might get something right then. I mean hell he should make a kit and offer it to dealers to replace the ugly factory Body. but I dont even know if new bumpers and a grill can save that car. Looks like a TL, subaru, accord, and like 10 other things.

The RL was plain before but at least it looked good though. this is just hideous and atrocious. This is like some kinda of sick joke
