What if we were talking about computer processors and how a 2022 model year processor (AMD Ryzen 7 5700X) performed the same as one from 2006...
"To be fair, that Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 which in say 2006 had an MSRP of $316, would be $453 today adjusted for inflation. So while performance of AMD Ryzen 7 5700X (MSRP $299) hasn't gotten better [and thermal design power (TDP) only marginally better] the value is there."

Analogy is fine. A modern Integra has similar performance to a 15 year old TSX for less money (inflation adjusted) but it all falls apart when it would get smoked by cars costing $10k less.

You probably know how the German brands typically underrate their engines, right? Well, they're not the only ones as Acura has now been caught "lying" in the best way possible. Honda's luxury division has rated the much-hyped Integra revival at 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet (260 Newton-meters) of torque. As with all automakers, the numbers apply to the output delivered by the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine at the crank.
The folks over at AHC Garage wanted to put those numbers to test and strapped onto the dyno a brand-new 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec Technology Package with the six-speed manual gearbox. After three back-to-back dyno pulls, the sporty liftback produced 199 hp in the last run, thus virtually matching what's written in the specs sheet. However, the power delivered during the dyno test was available at the wheels, so factoring in an approximate 10-percent drivetrain loss, the four-pot should be good for roughly 220 hp at the crank.
As far as torque is concerned, the highest number was achieved during the first run when the L-series engine generated 200 lb-ft (271 Nm) at the wheels. It's a healthy increase over the figure provided by Acura at the crank. Of course, there's always room for improvements, especially since enthusiasts feel like the Integra should pack more punch than the Civic Si. It remains to be seen whether a hotter Type S and/or Type R will follow to address this issue.
In an ideal scenario, the upcoming Civic Type R with over 300 hp will spawn an equivalent Integra, but for now, a little over 200 hp should suffice for the base model. At $36,895 MSRP, the 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec Tech Package represents a compelling package and a solid alternative to the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in the front-wheel-drive 228i flavor.

As far as I know this is the only chance for someone who hasn't put down deposit months ago, sight unseen, without details available, without any reviews to buy this car and not pay what dealers feel like charging. It's an auction, you can bid what you would pay for it. Else, get in line and wait months. Meanwhile, got back to your video games.

I don't think that people are going to have to wait super long to get one of these. It has been pretty universally panned by everyone lol.

I think a lot of people will still buy it, and while I don't think it's worth the price either a lot of people will pay it just for the badge. It's just not the landmark statement I think Acura was hoping for, and it's not the car enthusiasts were hoping for (maybe outside the very top variant with the manual).

I would get the Accord 2.0T instead. More features, better power, and runs on regular gas. For the same price other than the name I don't see a reason to get this (unless a manual is a deal breaker for you).

+1, her reviews are amusing, she's a fairly accomplished mechanic especially the MR2 Turbo rebuild. The current Audi Quattro should also be good.

yeah, most of the legacy and newer auto media have been fairly positive. Haven't seen one yet, perhaps next time I need to pick up some parts.

Her channel used to be called Sarah-n-Dipity and it chronicled her MTF transition. It’s well known by most of her followers; it don’t bother me none and I enjoy her content.

The way I see it is that, the Integra is more of a Civic Hatchback plus.
The top spec Integra from my understand has the following features on top of the Civic Sports Touring HB that's at $30k. There are probably more but these are just from the top of my head.
- 20hp more ($500)
- appearance kit ($500)
- adaptive dampers ($1000)
- ELS 3D sound system ($1000)
- Head-up display ($800)
- 12-way powered driver's seat with memory ($300)
- suede seats ($500)
- Extra year of warranty ($500)
- 2-year free maintenance ($500)
- Individual mode ($200)
- different exterior
The Civic HB Sport Touring is $30050. The Integra A-spec Tech is $35800, about $5800 difference.
The above items add up to about $5800 before considering the different exterior design (i.e. I'd imagine some folks might want a car that look a bit different than a $23k Civic LX).
The 11g Civic is an extremely well received product. Being a Civic, I'd imagine that it will always be more of a "value" model compared to an Acura, specifically the Integra in this case. The math however does kinda make it seem like there's no added cost to the Acura brand instead, FWIW.
That's why I was trying to understand why some of us here seem to not like the Integra much or feel that it's overpriced. I'm looking at the numbers and it just seems fine to me. Basically the Integra is just another couple additional trims to the Civic HB with a slightly different look inside and out.
I was also thinking about the likes of Audi A3 and Mercedes A220. Those are starting at $34-$35k and not much less than a fully loaded Integra. Once you load those up to the same level as the Integra, they are about $45k, without the liftback practicality of the Integra. They are also noticeably less roomy inside in terms of passenger volume compared to the Integra.
