I think the guy you replied to has a supercharger on his TL. Not a bone stock or lightly modded TL as in those videos.

I have a pre-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix Supercharger on the auto TL that beat the 392 Charger.

Dont be upset that my Turbo 3G is about to beat most supercars and many hypercars while staying cooler and more reliable. On the Street and the curcuit Track.

Edit: We also have had, and contiue to have the best weed.

Even supercharged....simply not believable given the performance difference stock vs. stock....let's start with the automatic transmission which in the 3G it an ancient piece of garbage compared to the ZF 8 Speed still one of the best slushbox in the market (in my experience only the new 10 speed Ford-GM on the Camaro ZL1 seems faster)
On a prepped strip for few launches before your transmission turn into jelly, yes, possible, on the road no.

He can supercharge all he wants, ain't happen on the street....especially auto vs, auto where the 3G transmission is utter garbage compared to the ZF 8 speed.

Are you one of those internet warriors who doesnt know his way around a car?

Your beloved bumble bee was mashing the pedal to the floor. How do I know? We drove back to my house and talk about it.

My long geared ancient garbage 5AT beat it.

Ive also Tracked this car, and dragged it over, and over, and over again. Back to back. and it ran like a champ. It "turns to jelly" if you dont have a transmissin cooler, thats when the ECU will pull timing to spare the tranny.

Your 1000 WHP TL it's fantasy if you are telling me you can use it and launch it over and over like a stock car....it's simply fantasy in your head.

Acura had no problems displaying the Type-S early last year to showcase the exterior. If it was truly something special I bet they would have released driving videos and performance data by now. With one month to go, the continuing silence is not really a good thing. The best they can do is release a history video with nothing new in it.

That video also made me laugh since they mentioned creature comforts. If that's the case, Type-S should have been based on advanced package all along and not trim features for price.

But what about Audi A4's cupholders? I think it's better than the TLX. Audi makes them so special that Starbucks cups fit so prefect that when you push the car 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. It holds the cup so tight that no other car manufactures have figured it out yet. Zero Spill. I heard Audi is going to make the V2 of it which it will hold even the Canadian Tim's cup even better. Apparently Gene Cernan was involved in the invention of these cupholders. LMAO

If my comment is not on topic, what exactly is the topic? Type-S is still not here...
Pretty sure that was directed to the supercharged TL talk.

So to stay on topic, I gotta wonder if this Honda Tokyo group US Patent application from 2018 is the new V6 turbo setup for the Type-S
The novelty involves the turbo/wastegate integrated mounting bracket on top of the gearbox.

I believe it is. It makes logical sense since it’s a Single Turbo linked up to a V6. I think the engine code name is J30AT

There's another Honda V6 patent showing the new cylinder head configuration of the DOHC which I'm guessing was the new V6 DOHC (looked like a narrow bank angle) and not the 75o V6 of the NSX.
For whatever reason, it's gone missing from the Internet

Sorry back tot he topic!
I was not a fan of the cupholders in my 2015 A6. The nubs held the cup so tight that it poked holes in my Dunkin Donuts coffee at least 3 times (the last two times I was gentle after experiencing it the first time). It was quite a pain cleaning up spilled/dried coffee in the cup holder well.

I'm perfectly fine with the ones in my TLX. Of all the things to be a dealbreaker, good cupholders are pretty high up for me since it involves creature comforts! Can any current Audi owners confirm if current models still have those obnoxiously hard nubs?

Definitely curious about the performance specs but also puzzled why such low production run initially. This car has been in the works for a LONG time. Seems like a lost opportunity to only make few hundred in the first year. Just a recepie for huge markups.

that’s because they are making MY 2022 soon. So to be on the same MY as the Base TLX they are doing it that way.

There was a leaked image of the engine design a while back. Showed the turbo sitting on the drivers side (above the transmission). It would make sense since the battery is now located in the trunk and the transverse layout.

Interesting that Acura skipped MY 2021 , call it a 2022 MDX, and it's already out.

Yet, they still call this (V6 powered) a 2021 TLX Type-S but we are still waiting for release in Q2-2021 .

I don’t get it either. It’s probably some marketing thing. The publications that went out to test the older Type S stated the TLX S was a 2022 but I don’t know if Acura told them that or they are guessing since like you said the MDX is already a 2022.

Wait so performance isn’t a big deal and nobody cares about numbers, so why even get a type S then? Just get the regular TLX. Sounds like a way to excuse a potential let down. Acura definitely cares or they wouldn’t even make the car.

If the TLX-S is based on the MY2021 base TLX, then it will be named as MY2021 TLX-S. But if the TLX-S is based on the MY2022 base TLX, then it will be named as MY2022 TLX-S.

Normally for Honda/Acura vehicles, a MY switch-over happens in the fall around Sept-Nov time frame. But since the 4G MDX is a new generation model, it is released early in calendar year 2021 as a MY 2022 MDX model. So expect the MY2023 MDX to fall back into the Sept-Nov release schedule.

I have a feeling that if Acura still doesn't release the 2021 TLX-S soon, it will very likely be delayed even more to Sept, which by then it will become the MY2022 TLX-S and to be released together with the other turbo-4-cylinders MY2022 TLX sedans.

Quick Reply: Type-S is almost here.
