saw that awhile back when Vtec posted it. The Turbo would be where the heat shield is.

Saw these in a YT video where they were testing the past Type S models.

They are using seacoast interior in combination with a few of the Type-S exterior colors. Surprised me. My wife loved her Whtie on Seacoast RLX when she had it.

From what I can make out

TB is on the passenger side, likely to connect to intake piping going to the front mounted intercooler
Coolant piping on the passenger side
Cam sensors (two) per head
High pressure fuel pump seems likely on the rear head.
Water pump seems to be internal (Chain driven)
Small twin scroll turbo will sit on drivers side
Air box likely to sit towards the front
A large engine cover to hide most of everything.

A bit of a complex design including the SH-AWD setup with the exhaust pipe running towards the firewall. It will look similar to a 2006 Saab 9-3 with the 2.8L DOHC Turbo V6 setup or the Cadillac 2.8L V6 Turbo

Every time any info is leaked positive or negative the "Need For Speed" on the forum quickly changes. Would be nice to see the Type-S car after being among the missing for 13 years actually mean something other than a slick marketing tag line.

Expect the car salesmen are having a lot of fun with the spin.

+1, keep the heat away from the intake side.
The distance between the DOHC's is fairly small and looks similar to the Honda patent drawing, that drawing was not for cam over bucket, but a very short cam follower and narrow valve angle

If this car comes anywhere close to where Acura is targeting it there will quite definitely be dealer markup until they can build adequate inventory. I can’t wait to see that color combo up close.

Perhaps some of us don't need numbers to persuade ourselves that J30A is more powerful than K20C, especially more responsive below 2k rpm?

I find it odd considering all the Acura commercials including MDX ones are all about speed and performance . But on here it’s “who cares about the numbers”. I for one care.

That is why you bought M340. You got the numbers, right? Acura are for people who don't put as much emphasis on numbers, but do care about how the car drives and of course bang out of buck. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Pretty spot on. All V6 turbo engines where the turbo sits inside look like a packaging nightmare. I6 is so elegant in comparison. Also, I want to add some may read too much on that heat shield. It was probably just disassembled and put there randomly.

Can't wait to see the color in person too. Hopefully Acura can move these though. Every dealer around me has 10+ TLX sitting on the lot, not moving. I've only seen 1 21 TLX on road so far since they came out in November and I live in a pretty populated area.
I know a lot of people are moving over to crossovers/suvs of course so sales are expected to be down but damn..seeing Acuras sales report they aren't pushing many tlx.

I agree.

I thought about it more. Seems they were better off trying to design a "Hot V" setup, but even that has it's own issues. I'd be more concern about the turbo sitting right above the transmission and with the additional heat coming off the turbo / down pipe. This design has been used by others who turbo charged their TL / Accords.

Don't cry for Acura. They'll move the 2.0 TLX's when folks come to the dealerships hoping to get a good deal on the Type S only to find MSRP or higher!

My only issue is the ride height. Maybe I'm just seeing the wrong angle. Honda/Acura have always had too high of a ride height for my liking. But that's just me. The rest of the car looks great. Even in that color(which I don't like either). Lol!

If numbers were all that anyone cared about with Acura, they would go to their competitors all day long. The Q50 Red Sport is $58k and I don't see anyone griping about that. Even with it's outdated interior. No HUD or digital display. People are more so complaining about the weight ands 355hp of the Type S. I can get that from my Accord 2.0 with a Type R turbo and tune. But having the Type S with that factory seems like a dream to me. I knew when Honda started using turbos they wouldn't be going for big power numbers. When I saw 355hp, I was like "Cool." Others who had already reserved to go with another brand before numbers were released were complaining. Having a daily TLX Type S is was Acura was going for. Not the performance sedan that sits in the garage to be driven every few days or every other weekend on a nice day.

There was a similar color for the 2001 CL, unofficially known as pimp-daddy-gold.

I actually looked up that color awhile back. Funny name that you call it. I think it was called Sundance Gold Pearl. They look similar but I’ve seen photos of the Tiger Eye Pearl and that color depending on where the sun hits has this two tone affect on it. Can’t wait to see it in person.

You really think all the performance sedans, coupes & convertibles sit in the garage & are not daily drivers, seriously? If thats true I think some large areas of the country best get some bicycles instead of walking to work. Were cars like the Ferrari 458 & Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Corvette in the school pick up line every day when I was ferrying the grandkids in my TL. When I got the 2011 335is it was pretty much anonymous in the line. Most people buy cars to drive not look at sitting in the garage.

At a time when a full loaded pickup truck can go for $80,000 performance sedans etc are not all that exclusive or expensive in comparison.

I kind of agree with this. The 2.0T is getting ridiculed for small displacement but if Honda knows how to make something, it's the 4-cyl aka 4-banger. I think the 1.5T in CRV, Civic, Accord is risky because it's too new and it's the "L" series but the K-series in the Accord 2.0T, TLX and RDX is tried and true, no nonsense about it. The A-Spec is the sweet spot; the only gripe I have with it is the price. I wouldn't mind blue A-SPEC SH-AWD but it would have to be $10K under MSRP to even consider it, especially how good my 2.0T Accord is and the fact I got it for under $28K brand new.

Well this is a Type S thread. If you want bang for the buck and don't care about numbers the regular TLX will get you there. If you are putting out over 50K and maybe push closer to 60 with tax and to get some extra options it better have some respectable numbers. The last V6 TLX was good bang for the buck but the performance was underwhelming even compared to a decade plus 3rd gen type S even though it boasted more HP. I still believe the trans in the type S will have a lot to do with the performance. If you have to run it in a sport + type mode to get it to really move that would be rather bad. I suspect it will put up decent numbers. Particularly if the 355hp rating is understated (which I doubt). Acura had to restate HP numbers lower on the 3rd gen by about 20hp as they were overstated initially. One test drive should be enough to know. I knew when I first test drove the 1st gen TLX it was slower than my 3rd gen type S. The trans they used in that either programming or gearing or something just didn't seem well matched to the motor.

Not sure if you know this but not every person in the car world thinks and buys the same as you. I know people who have bought 2 Honda Crosstours and keep one in the garage to keep the miles off it. I know another with a Supra who daily's it with over 700hp. Not everyone thinks the same man. Just because that one guy picks up his kid at school in a Vette to make his kid happy on the drive home doesn't mean he drives the thing everywhere he goes.

The problem with all the complaints here is that everyone is thinking Acura is supposed to be thinking like everyone here.

Numbers with BMW don’t mean much because it’s always understated. There were many factors why got one. Actual tested numbers was one of about 10 reasons. Bang for buck wise this isn’t going to be much of a bargain if the car turns out to be much slower than the competition. You’re talking about a nearly 60k car. Hardly a bargain if it can’t keep up with the competition that costs the same.

I saw a compact ford edge in near the same color today. I do agree it has a pimp look to it. Kinda like years back you could get those "gold" badges on a lexus. Then again this color will stand out if that's your thing. I had the blue TLX A-Spec and it looks great in photos but was a bit flashy for me (also showed scratches easily) and I always worried about parking it as it always stood out and there are people who do bad things to flashy cars. I do think it looks great in photos but not sure I would buy it as an everyday driver.

Main problem with the A-Spec V6 sh-awd was too much flash and not enough dash. A good reliable daily driver but I never had the urge to just drive it for no particular reason. That was something I missed in that car. If I really like a car I will wash it once a week. The 18 A-Spec was a one a month or so wash.

I mean I only use my TL 3x a year and rack a total of 15-20 miles or so. It's been like that for the last 7 years. I know a few in here would say I should get my head examined because after-all it's a 3rd gen TL (nothing special), but it's special to me to have one in near show room condition. My other vehicles are daily driven.

Considering how well the M340i perform compared to its competitors in a way it can be considered a "bang for your buck" proposition as well....

Pimp Daddy Gold was the stuff back in the early 2000's. It was a great color! TBH, I forgot about it until this post, and yeah...it does look a lot like the new Tiger Eye Pearl. I am surprised many of us OG Acura-TL.com members and early Acura owners haven't mentioned PDG more

For the life of me I can't see any more stupid way to spend money. What is the rational, logical point of buying two identical, not very attractive, discontinued Hondas & leaving one parked to keep the mileage off it while running up the mileage on the other one?

Of course not everybody thinks alike. The TLX itself comes in a number of flavors to satisfy different requirements. That said we are talking about what is supposed to be the top dog flavor the Type-S. So I try to keep my posts in line with what is expected to be the performance car of the TLX line. They already have the grocery truck, next up is being billed as the runner of the series. Most posts here have been about Type-S performance one way or another.

As for the cars in the school line not everyone who buys a high end car is a collector or investor that will park the cars for 20 years. Point I was trying to make is on a daily basis seeing an exotic is a very common occurrence. Performance versions of the German trio are common daily transportation. The new entry are starting to show up in larger numbers are the performance versions of the Euro SUV's so thats adds in Porsche Cayenne.

The German cars have gotten reliable enough to be daily drivers. Something like a 911 I would probably not put it in that category. Not that it is not reliable. Just not one I would use daily. Plus a lot of the 911's actually appreciate after they depreciate since they are very desirable with limited miles. Then again if you have a nice 911 you probably have other cars to drive as well.

I know some people are complaining that the new Civic looks too "boring" and like a Jetta, but honestly I think that's what people want. Most people aren't looking to buy a Gundam model with wheels.

In any case, anyone who can look at the ILX interior and think "Yep, this is a nicer Civic" definitely needs their eyes checked. The new Civic interior looks fantastic.

That pattern that runs the width of the dash is terrible. Reminds me of wallpaper, which I also hate.
