Is everyone ready for the Type S Concept? (Reveal Pics Page 5)

Well anything is possible at this point. I'd like to attend the NY Auto Show in April, hopefully it will be on display, but doubtful. Who knows, maybe Acura will surprise everyone & release it this spring.

Exactly! Also, they did encounter many infotainment issues with the RDX. If we believe the media, we will get the next generation of the infotainment. So hope the delays are for valid reasons, rather than they don't know which engine to use lol!

fuck no, the camaro is ugly as fuck. they are discounting the shit out of those because nobody wants to buy that abomination. GM design is shit. Add the new silverado to that too.

Three Wheelin'
The Type S likely will be all-wheel-drive adapted to rear-wheel-drive, muscle-car proportions. Acura engineers have not yet selected an engine. Decisions on what technology to load into the vehicle will come in the future, Davidson says.

Meh.
I do wish Acura would stop teasing. The only choices left for an intro are Chicago (doubtful given timing) and NY.....though I'd be over the moon with a Cleveland auto show intro (top 5 in attendance in the USA, and MUST be a huge market for Acura as I see them everywhere here...every chic soccer mom has either a 3G RDX or a Tahoe around here...).

Like others have said prior, my dealer said the district Acura manager told them about delays because of quality control issues. They found some issues and are trying to address. I know, another rumor and sometimes the dealer knows nothing, but he's been straight with me so far and accurate on past timelines. That's both good and bad news. I was keen on getting the Type S right away, but may do what Neuronbob did and pick up something in the interim when my lease is up to let the first year model issues get resolved. Maybe they're trying to avoid another fiasco like the glass transmissions on the 2001-2003 CL-S Automatics. Still hoping for the best, but if they drag this out too long it's going to be a ho-hum reaction to the release like when the new NSX took a few years to come out.
I almost wish they didn't release any concept and just shocked the shit out of all of us with a surprise unveiling.

The delay in the new TLX could be for the following reasons:
1. Acura is conducting more tests to avoid initial new car issues.
2. It's not meeting their expectations. It's not competitive enough compared to the Germans. For example, the HP is low, doesn't handle handle well or doesn't look luxury enough.
3. They are just F****** around with us lol! There is no new TLX this year.
But all jokes aside, the initial leaked pics from the RDX was done in purpose. They gave us a sneak peak of the product. Now just sit back and wait. It's sucks but I hope Acura doesn't delay the product to the point that people lose interest and move on to other brands.

I don't know what all this blabbing is about. From day one I heard amd was told that Type S WILL NOT launch at the same time as the all new Gen. I was told it could be up to a year later. There's no second chances with a new launch. Do it right the first time. It is critical in this market.

A little birdy told me that the Type S TLX won’t be for sale until August 2021.
I’ll just have to keep driving my 2003 TL til then. I’ve got 355,435 miles and still going strong.

So I expect a release in New York. Honda and Acura often show new models near the on-sale date, and the New York show is late enough that it could be introduced as a 2021 model and hit the lots a few weeks later.
I hope the TLX delay is to ensure a problem-free launch, but at least much of the 2.0T models' drivetrain hardware has been on the road in other models and should be solid.

Damn, well my 07' Type S is at 170,000 miles & I'll just keep driving it. I'm certainly not buying the first year release of a new Type S, not until the bugs are sorted out. There's no other cars that interest me right now, not BMW, Audi, etc. none. I suspected they were having issues with it, BUT it's better to release a vehicle the right way and not have recall after recall. February 2021 sounds about right, Acura can have it at all the car shows.

Was killing time & came across this. The current targets that some are talking about here. Also notice the power numbers advertised & the actual performance & why the numbers don't mean much. Drag race, Rolling kickdown race & Stopping distance.

They actually did. If you go back to the Car and Driver article from March 2019 they said both the next gen MDX and TLX were on schedule for late 2019/early 2020 debut. If the TLX isn't out until this August that would qualify as a delay or they were lying.

With the lackluster build quality of the 3G RDX, I don't mind this being delayed if it's a more refined package. Hopefully it's not built in America, but it probably will be ... so probably still have build quality issues. Anymore insight on projected power numbers?

As for the 3.0T we have members guessing in the 330s and some guessing near 400. In the end, no one knows and Acura staff perusing the forums is probably laughing at our bickering.

I will be happy when i see an actual pic of the new TLX without any cammo. Trying to hold on until the reveal but going to look at an Audi A5 Sports Back this weekend. I just wish Acura would put some kind of information out.
#750
I suspect leaking any information out is going to completely torpedo the current TLX sales (not that it's been selling like gangbusters to begin with...)

At this point, there is nothing to hide. We know the interior is going to be RDX 2.0 and the outside design will be +/- similar to the leaded pics back a few months go.
The only secret remains engine....2.0 vs 3.0 power. Acura is actually killing the momentum. The RDX created a decent buzz in 2018, sales are going well. Now to keep that buzz and positive momentum, they need the new TLX or MDX. Acura and Infiniti release a car and then they hibernate for 3 years. Then they ask why sales aren't growing? or why people switching to other brands?

There is still hope they will show a prototype at Chicago. They normally release a teaser exactly 2 weeks before an event like that. If we don't hear anything by Friday I don't think it will be there as the Chicago media days are Feb 6th and 7th.
They have shown prototypes for every model over the past generation so hopefully they will do the same for the TLX. Running out of time with auto shows at this point with an MDX debut this year as well.
There's too much going on in the car world for them to be silent so at this point just show it. They are discounting TLXs even more heavily than before.
One of the insiders sat and drove the 2.0T a couple weeks ago and sat in the Type S last week so they can't be too far off from reveal as Acura keeps everything top secret until reveal.

Same here. Type-S is probably outside my budget anyway and most likely won't be available in August this year when my lease is done. The base TLX should hopefully be relatively free of major problems since the drivetrain and infotainment has been beta tested by the 3G RDX owners.

Does anyone know what the bolt pattern will be? Usually 5x114 but could be a type R pattern.

Some Guy Who Loves Cars
Is that a cart corral in the background? So they literally took this car out grocery getting? Maybe to perform the parking lot test? I suppose I applaud them for doing real-world testing. I wonder if there are car seats for kids in the back too.
From the "less talk more drive" sign next to a discussion panel at a car show to grocery shopping with a mule, Acura sure know how to entice white, middle aged dads like me looking for a performance-luxury version of the Accord, but at a "better value" than the competition. If they really want to spice up this launch for the target buyer, they should leak photos of this in the Taco Bell drive through while asking for extra hot sauce at 1:30am.

I am pissed off at Acura for not sharing any news but I gotta admit this car looks handsome. Acura should promote this car like they did with RDX. Invite all the automobile journalists, and compare it to 3 Series, C Class and A4. I believe the 3rd gen RDX is very successful due to the outstanding publicity and great reviews from the automobile world. 1.5 years has passed but the RDX sales are strong and overall people love the car. I see 75% A-Spec version here in Montreal. What do you guys see in your areas?
