Came back for another look at the camo snaps...

I like the jagged rear trunk lip they added.
Looks like some changes to the rear bumper down on the exterior of the exhaust pipes.
Also the trunk line looks like it has a curve now instead of the flat one on the concept.

This has been (and maybe still is) an issue with Consumer Reports' reliability ratings. When I bought a Saab 9-5 Aero in 2001, the 9-5 range was "recommended" by CR, in part because it had a solid reliability record. Unfortunately, three critical components on the Aero frequently failed at around 50,000 miles, and thus weren't in CR's data in 2001. Mine experienced two of these failures, both of which rendered the car undrivable and required flatbed rides to the dealer. Once these failures showed up in the data, the 9-5 was no longer recommended, and I could see how the 9-5's record in the corresponding reliability categories had declined precipitously. Eventually, one of these issues prompted a recall, and Saab refunded my repair costs.
I don't want to stress the point but everybody has their own opinion on this. People report things fixed under warranty in the first number of years & based on the survey for Audi those thing are not frequent as they are for the TLX. If stuff is going down in the first 3 years what is your confidence that the car will suddenly get better in the next 7?

Also if you go back over the years & every year the industry average point moves up so all cars are getting better to some extent. Don't really think experience with a car from 20 years ago against current cars has any merit.

Audi Q5 2 issues: cost of repair $1,900

Then we will discuss...right now this is just blah blah!
That is bogus. I could get 7 bulbes repaired for $30 or so How much does 1 TLX transmission cost?

"Acura recalled about 8,300 model year 2015 Acura TLX V6 cars equipped with 9-speed automatic transmissions. ... Although a car that suddenly loses propulsion can cause all kinds of safety hazards, Acura doesn't know of any crashes or injuries related to the transmission problems." If counting on my fingers is correct the early TLX cars are out of warranty.

You want to see real life & don't like the chart just look at the TLX TSB list that gets listed here on occasion.

Top-shelf video of the Type-S. Love the wheels on this one, and there are plenty of details to parse out given how close he got to the mule. I'm optimistic this is going to look fantastic.

Hell yes. They are going to run the nsx wheel design. Love the front splitter. The front looks amazing. I can tell already that whatever is under that camo will look great.

wonder when they will announce it as I suspect it would have gone on sale in June or July.

Multiple separate (supposed) salespeople previously said that it won't be released until August.

Finally Acura is more open about it. So any day, they can show us the prototype via YouTube or other channel.

Curious to see if that Type S mule had a digital gauge cluster or not. I can't seem to see if it does through the video.

NY Auto show has been pushed back as stated above. I'm thinking the Type S will make a debut at the show for sure. Acura engineers must be relieved now.

the car in the bottom isn’t a Type-S, it’s a 2.0t. Type-S mules all have the quad tips

Here’s my premature assessment on the Type-S. Given that Acura was seen in Germany testing with a C43 AMG and the S4 says they have a direct performance target in sight. With that said, I expect this cars all around performance to fall somewhere between the C43 AMG and the S4.

I wondered this too, if they'd go the route of the Advance and/or Type S with precision cockpit. Not sure because the Accord has a digital dashboard already. Unless they have a couple tiers of precision cockpit.

I kind of hope not. Already big as it is and with their standard design language with long front and rear overhangs I don't want to have any issues parking in a garage.

The million dollar question is whether it will be competitive with the old C43 and S4 that it was benchmarked against, or if it will actually be competitive with the updated ones coming out shortly.

I’m thinking the base cars will get a half screen/half digi similar to the Accords but higher end. The Precision Cockpit will be similar to Audi’s Virtual Cockpit but have augmented reality GPS and/or google maps.

Off topic but interesting as far as where horsepower is going. A new C8 StingRay went from the dealer to the dyno @ under 20 miles. The DynoJet machine indicated the advertised 495BHP base engine is making 506BHP.

That's only off by about 3%, well within the normal variance.

The concept accessories has me optimistic of the future, and I expect the type S rdx to look similar to this.

Yes it is an exciting time wondering what the near future holds with acura. I'm being very patient and I cant wait to see all of these type S models. Our 2019 rdx is definitely getting traded in for one of them. It's a lot of fun to drive so I know the 2.0t TLX will be just as fun and probably even more fun to drive than the rdx. It basically has the type R motor with smaller pistons and what not. So the 3.0t will easily be a blast to drive whether it's 350 or 400, it won't matter. And then you wait for hondata and ktuner to release their flashes and VOILA! Bat out of hell. [just don't make any soup and eat it]

But yeah, if you folks haven't seen that rdx with the concept accessories, i'm really hoping that becomes a reality because I think it looks amazing.

Must be the Acura Jinx. Posted earlier that the 135 required no special out of pocket. Just spent $150.00 (Amazon) for a new alloy charge pipe, O ring & securing clip (Monkey Clip) for the 2013 135is. First non tire, brake part to fail. 90K miles 7+ years in service. Factory part is thermoplastic which looks like it dried out over the years & failed at the Monkey Clip that holds one end to the throttle body.

The charge pipe hold high pressure air from the intercooler to throttle body & failed under full boost. Part loss does not cause a shutdown. Just the loss of the turbo boost so the car goes from Turbocharged to N/A.

Remove & install 30 minutes.

Does anyone think the type S will come with cf mirrors? I think it will. The jagged trunk lip will be cf as well. [i hope] Carbon fiber roof?! [i hope, but more than likely not]
