Honestly I would check out Summit Racing. They have a huge selection with descriptions of sound output and tone.

All I have to say is great work on this turbo kit. I think its amazing how much potential our cars have and that finally some of us are brave enough to try and unleash that potential. If I had the money, I would be all over this. Keep up the good work pass427 and everyone else who contributes to this project

I forgot to add the link I wanted u guys to look at. im gonna use magnaflow mufflers.
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/u...asp?shape=oval
which mufflers would be be best? I was thinking of adding mid muffler as well to hopefully reduce some cabin noise. what would be a good choice for that?

Plan on replacing it all with 3" from the downpipe back using the same sizes but will play around with the location of the mid-muffler.
Drone is very minimal as is now around 2.5K, consensus is that it should be even better with a turbo in the path.
#2216
I completely understand that one, I make a few items myself and from personal experience, holding inventory can hurt quite a bit, especially when talking something like a couple $K worth of materials per kit.

I'm running 4X9 11" oval center/offset mounted straight vs stock angled with 2.25" piping from the Y pipe. I have 2.5" from the 3rd cat running through a 4X22" round magnaflow muffler as the resonator.

debating on putting the resonator underneath the cabin or in the 3rd cats position

I am very close in contemplating whether I should upgrade to a M3 soon (present for getting in Med School), or should get a Type-S and turbo it. Each and every day I see a car on the road, none really looks better than the Type-S with A SPEC kit. Nonetheless, the M3 looks beast with its own kit, but theirs a huge price difference between them too also. hmm, we'll see. Turbo, pre-cats, custom exhaust, tein's ss with edfc wouldn't even cost me more than 10k. While the BMW m3 would cost me a least 40k difference in final prices for cars :/ but the M3 is RWD and has iDrive and a v8 uh

for the mufflers i went with 4x9 14" oval center/offset and a 5x14 round magnaflow resonator all 3". 3" straight pipe from the j pipe back deleting the 3rd cat. getting installed this friday.

BTW, congrats on getting into med school. An M3 would be a damn nice present.

i must have sent 20 questions to JandR about everything and they answered almost everything.
they told me the downpipe ends right where the 3rd cat starts and you can bolt on any new or previous exhaust you already have on there. so according to them its a direct fit. they also said the downpipe has a flexpipe attached to it

you recommended to me that i try a dexlll type atf fluid. im gonna stay away from the type F mix for now. im looking at redlines lineup and theres a few. im also considering amsoil for the tranny.
which redline would you use? or if it was your car, would you stick with amsoil?
D4 ATF

Synthetic ATF

High-Temp ATF

im pretty set on redline 10w30 also. how high of an HTHS would you want? to get close to an hths of redlines 10w-30, amsoils 5w-40 is 3.7. amsoils 10w-30 is 3.2 and 10w40 is 4.3

What are turbo'd people doing about annual inspections? Anyone going to run a hi-flow cat to save some chickens or just going straight through? Thankfully I live in a state where they only read the ECU for emission codes.

Any of those fluids you mention will work, all are synthetic. Just as it says, if you're doing lots of auto-x, the high temp is a good idea. Otherwise, stick with the D-4. It's characteristics are similar to DexIII. It has great low temp flow and very stable at high temps. The way I look at it is no matter which product you choose, you're so far ahead of the stock Z1 fluid it barely matters. Even their thick fluid is thinner than Z1 cold yet thicker when hot so you really can't go wrong. FWIW, I'm very happy with Amsoil ATD but I'm giving the D4 a try next time around.
One thing to keep in mind, since this fluid is ester based, it has lots of natural cleaning potential. I think the best way to introduce it into the system is a single drain and fill each week until you have the 3x3.

I'm going to wait until my kit arrives so I can measure the opening and bolt spacing.

"We are currenttly transitioning pipes to fit stock flange which will be 2.5 a
small section which can be replaced with 3" when 3" exhaust is completed.."
i just renewed my registration in NY so technically i have 2 years before i need another inspection otherwise i cant get a new registration. when that time comes, a "friend" is going to take care of the inspection for me. in NY they just look for a check engine light as well. straight pipes FTW
If you go with Redline, do the 5w-30. Redline is the only brand where the 10w-30 is obsolete. I've heard from the source that it's only there for people that demand that number. I wish I would've known that when I ordered mine. Usually 10w-30 is more robust, has less viscosity index improvers and will hold up to abuse better than 5w-30. In the case of Redline they use a better base stock to get the 5w without any additional additives so it's the best of all worlds.

ill try the drain and fill once a week until most of the atf-z1 is gone instead of a full flush at once

We have been running a 07 TL 6 speed in a Odyssey for a couple of years now with a j35 series turbo motor. At 325-350hp the transmission did fine. At 425 it blew 4th gear after about 1300 miles. At 532hp and 460ft lb's of torque 4th gear that was heat treated and shot peened ( how ever you spell it) did not last long at all. I have pictures if you would like. 4 times we blew 4th gear in 3 different transmissions. We are looking into other options. If you guys start pushing the power up around 400hp or so watch out. 4th gear will be the first thing to go. I found this thread last week after we blew our last transmission and was looking to see if anyone had the same issues and if they found a solution. If so I would love any and all info.

i think J & R, the company making the kit, is already fielding an upgraded transmission. that may be a costly lesson for those keeping stock tranny's.
I'm assuming you race this mini van in some fashion. maybe a much higher level of abuse than most of the guys slapping this on their daily drivers.

I hope they are fielding an upgraded transmission because we may be a customer then. The last transmission we blew on the street. 4th gear just seems like a weak link. I just would hate to see a trail of broken transmissions because of weak gear and wanted to pass on what we have had happen to us as a word of caution. Power is great but this drivetrain stock will not handle much of it before it fights back. I work for Honda ( not a dealer but Honda) and we can find no one inside the company that has had a lot of luck making this transmission live very long under abuse/high stress. We are currently talking to the guys at the Honda transmission plant in Ohio that build's it for any help. There is always custon cut gears but that looks like 4-5 grand. We may go that way but for now we are looking elsewhere.

guys i know everyone is wondering about updates ,weve been off the net for a while taking care off getting kit parts together ,we would have love to be able to stock all these parts ,as promised Nva av6 came thru for us with wiring in the beginning so of couse we had him do all our harnesses,we actually made a another decision to get pipes coated which is will not only look good but serve a purpose to keep those iat temps low ,and also back housing of turbos...we will have kit pics ,contents and all on our site currently its geting overhauled proffesionally ,bare with us takes time to do it all right ........thanks guys

While you guys are at playing with the gears in the tranny's you might want to also look at the final drive, at least on the MT AV6/ 3rd gen TL after J36 treatment 1st gear is completely wrong, these engines are dropping about 280WTQ and it is almost impossible to get a good standing start out of the gear and usually just skip first and take off in second.
