My only comment is to the broken ringlands. You usually break ringlands from detonation. You break entire pistons from too much power. What kind of tune and monitoring was on these cars that broke ringlands and bent rods?

Two of them actually had good tunes on them and no sighn of injector/fuel failures after rebuilding the engines. The others were just running the crap comptech ASM/ESM.

It's in this thread.

It uses no cats so it won't pass smog. You would have to reinstall the cats and j-pipe for smog. You probably wouldn't have to remove the turbo, just the downpipe. Shouldn't be that hard.

Actully other than Cali, why couldn't you drop in a true high flow cat for emissions and at least in PA, VA and MD as long as your emissions monitors show ready your gold and if the person does do a visual inspection (most don't bother) as long as you can show all emission devices are connected and functioning. Most do not even know we have more than one cat.

hey paul u know if any 7th gen accords, like nicepeta are getting this turbo??? i know i want this so badly but want it to pass inspection. so let me get this straight i have 2 options to pass emissions with this kit.
1. when inspection rolls around take out downpipe and put primary cat, and j-pipe back in. so this should be a easy.
2. Buy a high flow cat?? but how would not throw a cel, cause even the richies pre-cats have defoulers? so will this down piping have defoulers?

I have made high flow cats using Magnaflow metal catylist cores that would hold up the the turbo abuse and scrub enough HC to keep the ecu happy, just move ONE of the secondary O2 sensors after it and make a splice harness feeding the sensor data to both secondary sensor connections, I am actually running this on my car now and have been for a few months.

NVA-AV6,

Does your car have Throttle-By-Wire? The 3G uses it's DBW to let-off of the throttle between shifts. Would this DBW throttle reduction between shifts accomplish the same thing as manually lifting off of the throttle that you discussed?

LOL, Yes it does, the 7th gen AV6 and 3rd gen TL use THE SAME EMS, LOL, even the part numbers for the TB and controller, not to mention ALL other sensors are the same part numbers, LOL, even the oil pump, oil pan, coolant pipes, head castings, gaskets (other than head), timing componets, cams, rocker assemblies,engine wire harness from MT, engine bay to ECU harness, AV6 MT intake mani, ect, ect are the same

The AT can barely handle stock power levels at WOT without falling apart after a while, so adding 10 PSI on top of that and Pass in the mid/upper 400s with 9 PSI.

Lifting between shifts won't hurt that much once you get used to it, it is not like you are increasing speed while the tranny is doing this anyway.

ive done 2 drain and fills with amsoil atf and so far so good. about 60% amsoil 40% z1

after the first drain and fill i couldn't notice a difference in shift quality but with 2 drain/fills the tranny is much smoother now. hopefully it gets even better with 2 more fills.

i did a 3x3 drain/fill with the z1 fluid 15k miles ago. the z1 has turned browinsh already.

heres the part numbers for people who want to change the filter

A guy named Rodney has it installed already as he only said if anyone has "installed" it, not if anyone has purchased it and bought it

^lol I know Rodney personally, pretty much before the azine thing if I'm not mistaken. The entire thread is about the kit he has on his car. As of now, he's re-doing the piping and getting the piping and the turbo coated. His car is still on a lift as of yesterday to make sure that down pipe bolts up to the aftermarket exhausts. Kits should be released within the next few weeks

/sarcasm I know Anyways I hope more people put deposits/ full payment cause Rodney and his crew has been working hard for this. Hope everything goes out well. I'm still contemplating on getting a Type-S and turbo instead of M3 just because with the Type-S and turbo I can learn a lot more about cars than just driving a stock M3

I think that's an awesome way of doing it. The knowledge you'll learn will be invaluable and can be applied down the road if you do get an M3 later on. You're a smart guy and once you start tearing into it, things will start clicking and you'll connect the dots easily. I'm grateful that in '94 when I was 17 no one could work on my GN so I had to teach myself. Otherwise I would probably be asking people how to change the oil on my TL lol.

your probably number 2 since you paid before me and i would think im number 3. are we the only 3 that ordered?

on another note, am i being really anal in wanting to replace as much of this z1 fluid with amsoil as possible? i bought a case of 12 quarts and ill need 2 quarts for my tranny cooler so that gives me 3 drain/fills. going by these numbers for each drain and fill, ill be at 77% amsoil and 23% z1. id like to be around 6 drain/fills about 95% amsoil. is it really worth it?

1=39.5%
2=63.4%
3=77.8%
4=86.6%
5=91.9%
6=95.1%
7=97.0%
8=98.2%
9=98.9%

timing bomb. I never trust boosted engines without sleeves (at any psi bee ) water n oil ..
I would do this only under these 3 conditions : sleeves, Forged Pistons and Rods....

^^^since the install we"ve put 14k miles on with the kit ,during r&d there are issues that needed to addressed , to be honest a lot of people think that we just threw the turbo kit on and drove , which wasnt the case at all i know silva types can laborate on this hes been around since the cb smith park meet ...Any and every problem we"ve encountered has been addressed and corrected as needed .....
I think if it was easy as throw on a couple of pipes bolt on a turbo get a tune ,it would have been done a long time ago , but like all things you pay to learn .......

I can vouch (via reading) for what Rodney is saying. This forum and others (like v6 performance dot net) are proof. You will see guys attempt to get the turbo running and fail for one reason or another. And, I am not belittling these attempts. There have been attempts backed with money, patience, and knowledge. But, for one reason or another (unseen), calamity will strike swiftly after the car is up-and-running.

This is why our own Acurazine member "DirtyJohn" is famous. He is the only person that I am aware of to have a turbo and have it survive the "Honda/Acura Turbo Curse". Now, we have Rodney. A very small select crowd it is, numbering only 2 people. There might be others, but these are the only two that I am aware of that have had a turbo over the long-term.

Dirtyjohn was a joke. Scammed ppl for thousands of dollars. He's has a or had (he went mia) a 2nd gen 6spd swapped turboed tl. Give the guy props for doing what he did to his car, but was a scammer.

I was not aware of that. I did read that he sold the kit and that the guy that purchased the kit was unhappy because DirtyJohn did not offer any technical assistance after the sell. Was there more to the story?
