btw.. that looks like the mainshaft not countershaft. If so, then I guess the 2nd gear ate it.. .. also a zinc coating may add to the gear thickness / react with the MT fluid additives which may cause more damage than good ..

Time to replace them with straight cut gears and enjoy the nice sound.
I wonder if the gears are the weak link or if the shaft is flexing??
Can you drive around this by shifting softly, does it happen on the shifts or will it do it with the car rolling in gear with the clutch already engaged?

that would be from banging the gears,....usually from a harsher clutch...and u can drive around it shifting slowly.... the tranny isn't THAT weak. it has taken my abuse. you could pretty much break any tranny..... the harshest for this tranny is shifting from 1-st to 2nd, but i dont see a point in grinding through the shift, and banging it like there's no tomorrow, at full throttle shifts.

this was out of my original transmissio, which suffered the most damage. its never seen anything but a stock clutch kit too, so you cant blame on harsher engagement from an AM kit. i never ever bang through the gears, unless i was at the track. my thing is, i LOVE stomping in first gear at around 3k rpm and even 2nd gear arouind 4k rpm for bursts of speed. the scary thing is, none of my transmissions gave me any type of warning signs of failure. it gave out on me after coming out of a right turn and stomping on it right around 3-4k rpm. thats when i heard a fast tapping noise that turned into a "kunk, kunk, kunk, kunk, kunk" as i slowed down as i turned into a shopping plaza driveway. then my car just stopped and locked up on me and i couldnt go anywhere, even in neutral. it had to be dragged up the flatbed
my second one failed the same exact way, while WOT in first gear. 3rd one didnt actually fail on me while driving, but as i drained the gear oil while installing some brand new axles the gear oil smelled BAD! and i mean BAD!! like a dead skunk and had shrapnel floating around in it. so i drove her ever so gently until i found a good used low milage 06 accord tranny and had the lsd transplanted into it.

It's amazing to look at that pic.. it's like the gear was made of lead.. it must have been pretty hot and heavy to do that type of damage / domino effect and all.. have you played around with different MTF's?

I am thinking cyrogenic treatment or custom made gears. I had the T-5 trans in my Mustang upgraded from being able to hold 350 hp and TQ to being able to hold 650 HP and TQ for both for $1000, Astro Performance in Florida I think. I am sure they could upgrade a TL tranny.

I think you meant 7G AV6.. They're very similar.. the 7G AV6 has the J30, the 8G AV6 has the J35.. Base TL is the J32, Type S is the J35.. I think both went through a couple of head changes and both have precats from each bank.

Does anyone have more info on this turbo. Its a Precision PTE 61 turbo.
Is it ball bearing or journal bearing. What other turbos you can compare this with? or if some one can send me a link about the turbo that comes with the kit?

I just want everyone to know that I've read every post of this thread now. And I started reading it at work YESTERDAY!
Here's to reading Acurazine instead of designing robotic assembly plants!
I like the way this setup is looking. My TL-S is my daily driver and I would love to add this setup eventually. I am worried about longevity of this setup though.
Before I know it, my TL will end up just like my 12 second Ford Explorer...
I guess it's an addiction...

power to rev built kit for us that is correct,as far as u buying our piping kit that will not be possible ,u guys need to understand putting this kit together cost money & time which we have been shelling out ..........and we advanced this project into kit after a lot of members were interested ,as far as pricing im not sure how you would expect a kit to last with anything but quality and testing involved.......with that said all we can do is take our loses and produce kits for those who have stick with the project and ordered our kits...

I was asking that you include the overhead/R&D plus the money you would have made on the over the counter items. I was thinking of the cheapest get it now cost and expected I would end up paying more in the end since I would likely pay full retail for the remaining partsl. I just didn't want to miss out.
In the end, I was able to figure something out so I am glad you didn't say yes

[QUOTE=KN_TL;11215183]Anyone who would have thought differently just doesn't get it. I hope you weren't taking my question about selling the custom parts as part of this thinking.
no not all just for the general complaints we get about price ,weve done every single calculations and if we could have lower the price it would have been done ,but as far as gearing my comment to you would be totally unproffesional plus we even included shipping into price also.....

Pass427 we all know you put alot of time and money. We all appreciate what you acomplished. You build the first turbo charged 3 gen TL, Thank You. All I'm asking is for more info on your kit. If i'm going to spend $5799.99 + exchange rate + duty fee + shipping to Canada I want to know everything about this kit, ok not everyhing but the important stuff.
What kind of turbo (specs), type of fuel pump, injectors, manifold, how difficult is the install etc. Things we should know when purchasing a kit.
I really what this kit but I'm not buying this blindfolded. I hope you understand my point of view, I dont want to piss any one off.
Once again you have done an excellent job with this project and I respect what you have done for us TLers.
Thanks

I'm not sure what you're wanting.
I'll explain..... You know the turbo is a PT61. You can google the rest if you like. But that's not important because you've seen the dyno graphs so you know it spools very well at a low rpm and makes plenty of power up top. They obviously did their homework in the sizing of the turbo so I'm not sure what you expect to gain from the "additional specs".
Exhaust manifold or should I say exhaust plumbing is completely custom and just like any other turbo exhaust on a V6. It's a pipe from each side of the engine merging at the turbo to feed it, exiting the turbo with a 3" downpipe dumping into the exhaust under the car at the stock 3rd cat location. This is all in this thread. Again, irrelevent since we know it spools great and makes the power up top.
