Got the first half of the trunk mounts done today. I'm using mini Quik-Latches and they came out great. They hold the trunk lid very tightly and with the push of a button I can remove the whole trunk.

I think the stock trunk hinges were 8ish pounds plus the 6 or so pounds from gutting the trunk lid itself so I'd say something like 13-15lbs total.

Its funny how you find 15-20lbs here and there even though you have taken off what 1000 lbs LOL....

Very cool Rex....

I have 1 big big question though, recently I bought couple heavy things at Sears...put them in the back and was driving it home....the car seems so much more planted....It almost made me want to put couple things back in the trunk....

I really wanna corner weigh her and then do more weight loss...

yeah that's an understandable feeling, why do you think I'm all about the downforce? It's dynamic, relatively low drag, and gives you that planted feeling without the actual weight.

What a weird coincidence. I just posted about using those mini quik-latches in my build thread a few days ago.

I was thinking of using them for my bumpers tho. For my trunk I removed the springs and installed trunk prop rod.

Pretty expensive piece to use for a bumper clip if you ask me. Where on the bumper were you going to use them?

dropped the car and turned her around in the garage yesterday so I thought I'd snap a pic of how the new diffuser/bumper line will look with weight on wheels. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and like that the leading edge of the rear bumper is level with the center of the rear wheel and goes up from there (an aero principle that I'll skip for now).

here's a side by side with the original side that I haven't started yet... think this vent more air, reduce pressure, and make more downforce? I think so at least!

For the front bumper I was just going to use one mini latch per side by where the bumper meets the fender. I think I have decided against it tho.

Why not use a dzus fastener? They use them on airplanes and even motorcycle fairings.

For lighter stuff that doesn't have much force on it I would (and will for my license plate plug project) bit stuff that has to take wind forces and whatnot i would want something stronger than a dzus fastener.

Relocate a bigger battery to the trunk and give me my jumper back

They use it in racing to fasten body panels

Old picture but I just saw it for the first time. I'm glad to see a tow hook on a car that needs a tow hook. Half of all civics around here have some bright anodized aluminum tow hook on their purely street driven never seen a track Civic it's disgusting.

Yea I hate those people with tow looks like me.

It looks like your mirror install went smoother than mine. The placement of my mirror on panel makes part of the passenger mirror blocked. I am still trying to figure out how to remedy this. My damn cl is so hard to mod.

I see you used 2 rivets. What if you need to adjust the mirror behind the base? Can you get at it from inside?

Yeah I was surprised how far back the mirrors had to be on the panel to be most effective but it's definitely a measure twice (or like 10 times lol) and cut once type of thing...I was mounting the by myself and had to basically tape the mirrors up in different spots to see where they had to be. Only once I had the spot picked out did I drill the mounting holes.

For the APR mirrors anyways they are all adjusted from the outside so I'll never need to go behind the base panel.

For my panel I used the existing holes to mount it. I need the mirror further back but there is metal blocking me from doing that. Maybe if I hack it up I can figure something out. I am also still using the rubber mirror base seal on the cf panel. I cut the panel to fit in that rubber.

My apr mirrors have an adjustment on the back for adjusting the rod position. Now the mirror angle can be adjusted from the outside tho.

Why not use a CF blank plate to cover the existing mirror mount (like what you have now), and just mount the mirror straight on the door skin further back where you need it?

I thought about doing that too I just didn't like the look too much, but it's certainly an option.

Yea that would look bad. Also the door is curved so mounting a straight base would be hard. The door metal is kinda flimsy and mounting on the other side of the glass would be difficult.

I have been out test fitting pass mirror. The one thing that will help is I can flip the mirror base from horizontal to vertical. That moves the middle pivot point back further. I will post a pic in my build thread don't want to clutter this one up too much.

I also have my cut up oem base panels I can eventually use that stick out more. That requires body work tho.

I want to ask where you get your cf panels from? I bought mine from apr but it is just fiberglass with a layer of cf on top. My panels are rather thick, I would prefer thinner ones.

I literally just searched ebay for carbon fiber panel and found a place that sells them for fab'ing parts. I think mine is 3mm and probably has a fiberglass core but has nice carbon on both sides.
