Latch removal and hood pins looks great. I was thinking of doing the same thing. Do you know roughly how much weight that removed?

A fair amount but i'm not sure exactly on the weight. I'm more so doing it for more airflow to the radiator and oil cooler someday.

Started using some scraps I had laying around to get some small projects going. First, filling the cut out parts of the grille area from removing the stock grille...

Second (don't be mad Anil lol)- Using my left over Carbon Fiber from the mirrors and trunk project to make some small, conservative canards. Still not sure if I'll keep them forever cuz they have been shown to add considerable drag but I figure it's worth trying being I have the material.

WOOOT !!!

Those canards look good....but in that image try using that (same) canard on the drivers side....you want the fatter area at the exit so it take the turbulence "away" from the car

I can see that but as long as they produce a vorticity along the side of the car it'll still be effective.

sorry man! I have to do some checking around town for a set of race scales, I'm really curious to see what she's down to. I think 2400lbs or close to it is pretty realistic at this point.

do eeet !!!

I would hop on the same scale and would like to see how she weighs in as compared to you....I would love to come down to 2750 for a daily driver...

make like 350-360whp (down the line).... and then I will be almost done with the car LOL....

am currently at ~ 2990....
new rims + tires will loose me 50
couple items on the inside coming off will be around another 50 lbs
brakes + couple other items (am looking into a different exhaust setup) = 30lbs

so thats 130 and I will be down to 2860....the last 110 lbs will be the toughest

I remember being at 3k....YEARS AGO hahahahahahahaha

I have to be more concerned with power/weight ratios than anything. right now I'm probably somewhere around 10.5/1 or so. but at 300whp I'm down to 9/1 and then it's really close to being too light/powerful for the class rules I might compete in. And I'm not about to put ballast on that car to fatten her back up lol

haha, I would love to be @ 5lb/1whp....but I dont see that happening....plus I wont be able to put shit down....

I think 10lb/1whp is very very delicious....eventually 7.5lb/1whp is what I wanna be at...so 2750lbs and 360-ish whp is the destination

Well dont forget you are a dedicated track car....I still have a 5.1 stereo system in the car LOL....I think the speaker system and radio and the dash itself will be like 100 odd lbs

haha yeah I know, I keep thinking about ditching my dash, or at least part of it, but something's holding me back I guess.

At least I could sell my kill switch and gauge pod then I suppose.

I dunno how you both got the weight so low. I have almost everything removed and my 2 door coupe is probably barely under 3k lbs. I have not officially weighed it just kept track of weights.

I still need to do moonroof delete. CF hood and trunk combo maybe, but that only saves 35 lbs. Do you think a cf trunk is sturdy enough for a wing? Gonna keep stock dash and glass. I kept heater also. I still have my bumper beams also but i removed 5.5 lbs from front one. My exhaust is heavy also. I guess I can see why.

Btw swoosh did you ever reinstall those 2 braces behind the rear seats that you had removed at national meet that I suggested you put back in for structural support? Did you ever fix those seat brackets?

It really could be down to things you can't remove, such as the subframe, chassis, etc? The moonroof is worth a good deal of weight and the CG will be lowered as well. Same with the hood/trunk. Could easily net 80-100lbs right there. A CF trunk is strong enough for a wing but look into reinforcing it on the underside with some steel plate to really make it rigid/functional. Wing flex/trunk flex is just wasting downforce.

Good question for Swoosh, if I was caged I might consider ditching them.

no....I did not reinstall the 2 braces behind the rear seat....because I cudnt find them LOL...we moved and all the car stuff went missing

I spoke with IHC and he was telling me, that the metal rear deck helps the chassis strengthening and hence I didnt go looking for one....about the seat brackets, yes I did....I was about to remove the OEM seat brackets and reuse them....I need to make some very slight changes to them which I will discuss with Rex when I see him...

Also, Brian and Rex, if you guys want, I can share my weight loss sheet with you guys....I do keep updating it against Inaccurate's weight loss

Think I'm going to tear out the evap canister today, was reading that even race series' aren't requiring them anymore so I can legally remove it. So out it comes....

Have you ever thought about solidly mounting the engine and trans? What about spherical suspension bushings?

Btw my car has 2 rear cross member braces that are heavy stamped steel. Wonder if those are still needed with a cage? I was also thinking of making or having made lighter ones.

I was reading a DIY on welding. I want to save up for the Millermatic 140 auto set unit but it is costly at $700. Would need a table also. Never welded before so I need practice.

There are pics in inaccurates diet thread fyi but i can snap a few too. I will be removing everything basically including the hard line to the engine bay and the lines to the tank will be filtered and moved out of the way.

TOOK 20 LBS OFF THE CAR TODAY!! woot woot

got the evap canister removed and a bunch of excess wires out from behind the dash and all that added up to about 14lbs. then I cut out the last door frame I had left for another 5 or so. It will be a bear cleaning up all those wires but what the hell...

Rusty dash metal looks I think I like keeping the oem dash since that is all you really look at when driving.

For the canard did you make an aluminum L mounting bracket underneath?

You can thank Florida's salty air for the rusty dash lol... As for your dash maybe that's why you're stuck at 3k for weight!

Yeah that's exactly what I did for the canards
