Do it. Do it. Do it. I will be driving my gutted cl down again. 8-9 hours both ways in a racing bucket. Atleast I still have a/c. If you and swoosh go we would have 3 gutted luxury acura's in one place.

The beat breathed some fresh spring air today! Took her around the block for a quick systems check. Everything checked out good but I do have some pretty noticeable idle issues with the new intake setup...I know its common and could work itself out but we'll see how it goes at the first track day next week...I did notice that the amount of gas I give it for the heel-toe down shift now has to be significantly less than before.. It's actually more of a blip now, not actual heel full of throttle. It's certainly nice but will take a little getting used to.
Took a little time and bent up a bracket to hold the Acura logo up front...Not a huge fan of the full shark mouth grille and hey, I can still have some class and Acura pride lol
Also snapped a pic of where the top of the canard sits in relation to the center of the wheel. I've come to understand and believe that the max height for a canard to be most effective and with minimal drag is to be level with the center of the wheel line. Which as you can see, I'm pretty darn close...plus with the availability of dropping the ride height just a smidge in the front, I can/could get it right on.
Kinda starting to think my battery is on it's last legs but not sure yet...I'll keep you posted but might be time for a new Braille/Deka battery.
Thanks for all the comments! love to hear peoples thoughts and please keep em coming!

Rex....that looks PRIME !!!!
I am really digging the car and want to make mine a track car (just like yours), but I just dont want to buy another car for my daily....
About the ride height, can you lower the car a little more? Wont it help by shifting the center of gravity lower?
vlad, for racing/lightweight application, I love the brailles (i have the 11 lb battery....though it doesnt start the car up when the temps dip low, I like being able to place them anyway I want to)....

I could lower the car a bit if I wanted to, my BC's are almost maxed out though and it will make getting on and off the trailer all the more difficult than it already is. I might look into it tonight though.

new one. it's just doing the idle surge thing...with the clutch in or with the car coasting/sitting it will want to idle high (like 1500-1800rpm) but if you give just the right blimp of throttle it will calm back down to 1k or so.
Other problem I face is that I usually kill the battery switch inbetween sessions so it would wipe any learned behavior for the new setup everytime....we'll see this week how much it effects me at the track.

yeah I installed the new sensor as well, and seems like I do not have any issues....did you get the ZDX TB or TL TB?

My acura made for north american market just doesn't have the aftermarket support for this. You 3rd gen tl owners might be able to use some parts from the tsx, like bump steer kit, roll center adjusters, extended ball joints, etc. I would have to make all custom parts.

yeah you'd think but not really...I was just doing some reading on the TSX rear hub/spindle assembly working on a TL but I think the verdict is still out...
But don't worry, I know your pain on custom making parts...

Well took the car to the track for her first shakedown/test of the season and have mixed results to report. I guess I'll focus the negatives for now being the positive are pretty obvious (the car's awesome lol).
First off, I definitely need some TB adjustment for the idle. I had this weird idle rev surge thing going on where it was almost like the car had a vacuum leak and would bounce between 1000-3000ish rpm. Resetting the ECU would initially make it rev just fine but as soon as I would move the car or do a session on track, the problem came back.
Secondly, I have a suspicion that my clutch is on it's last legs....I was getting slip in 4th and 5th on the straights and basically had to use nothing more than about 60% throttle to keep it engaged between the corners. I'm guessing with slicks and an LSD the clutch is the obvious weak point in the drivetrain right now.
Other than that the car felt really good. New aero feels really good and I definitely think the new intake setup is helping as well. Didn't do any GoPro stuff yesterday but I might have some pics I can upload later so stay tuned.

^^^ I would love to send you my TB (from SHAWD TL) for you to try and see if you have the same issues....its definitely from the MAF sensor....the sensors "thinks" the car is about to die and hence surges trying to get some more air in even though you are running fine....
