Okay, I ran this with a 3.7 DVD and it works to remove the nag screen but then the map doesn't show up. It just shows the car. Any ideas?

Black DVD Version 2.50 For 2002 TL-S

I know this is changing the subject but I have a 2002 TL-S and was wondering if someone had a hack for version 2.50 Black DVD, and instructions on how to down load and then install into the nav system. Any information. I currently have the original which I think is version 2.05.
Thanks.

However, The 3.70 Honda DVD that I have will load on the Acura GPS just fine and enable the Trip CPU and changes some of the menu colors.

For some reason the DVD that I get for the Accord has features that the Acura DVDs don't have.

If anyone is still interested, AD has posted the ok nag and HMImanager hack for version 3.70.

I tried it and it works like a charm.

Man I'm having a hell of a time trying to do the Navi hack for the trip computer. I can't seem to use (dos) every time I try it I get this: 'dumpnavi' is not recognized as an internal or external program or batch file.

I have download everything that I need for the mod but I have been having no luck for the past week now. I have done the wallpaper Mod but this one is kicking my ass. If anyone has an Idea of what I'm doing wrong please help! I am using the 3.50 disk in an 05 TL.

I'm not getting along well with the command prompt. There are several people with V3.30F that are having problems. Any chance of someone loading the files to a server so we can pull them directly to a CD? The fix is about for all command line experts.

Thanks!

OR........ Can someone merge the v3.30f fix in with the main fix so we (3.30 people) can at least try and follow a chronologocal order? Maybe if it's merged in order so that a 2 year old can follow it I might be able to get this awesome mod done.

Thanks again!

And is the load file (BNHN404A.BIN) the only file that needs to be edited?

Follow the instructions below exactly....

USE CEBIN!!!!

Get BN2HHMLD.BIN and BN2HH12C.BIN from your Orange 3.30 CD.

put CEBin, BN2HH12C.BIN, BN2HHMLD.BIN (back.bmp, navi.exe, hmimanager.exe) into a directory and unzip the zip files I used C:\TL for my directory.

Now go to Start-->Run and type in notepad.exe this will bring up notepad now copy the following into notepad

image BN2HH12C.BIN
replaceFile navi.exe C:\TL\Navi.exe
replaceFile Back.bmp C:\TL\Back.bmp
replaceFile HMIManager.exe C:\TL\HMIManager.exe

do a SAVE AS and give the file a name. (by default it will assign the file a .txt extension so don't name it TL.TXT or you will TL.TXT.TXT.

now go Start-->Run and type in cmd
this will bring up a DOS Prompt navigate to the TL directory by going to the root of C:\ and type the following

cd TL

now that you are in the TL Directory you will type the following which will run CEBin and change the bin files to the changes you want.

cebin yourfile.txt -s tempfile.bin

now rename tempfile.bin to BN2HH12C.bin

burn a disc with your now change BN2HHMLD.BIN and BN2HH12C.BIN.

Now to load the files into the NAVI unit with the instructions on the first page of this thread and your done.

Is yourfile.txt the notepad file or as you called it TL.txt?

OK...... I'm getting an error unable to find Navi.exe. Where does this file come from? Let's say I need all mods (ok bypass, temp control, image update and trip update). Can you give me all setps to do this in sequence? You are saying use Cebin but how do I generate or pull Navi.exe from the bin file?

Explain this like you're talking to a 3 year old....because when it comes to computers....you are.

I'm able to follow your steps....I'm just not sure what steps I need from page1.

Thanks!

so download the following items from the first page of the thread
cebin.zip
navi-console.zip
navi.zip

put them all in your C:\TL folder and unzip them

now copy BN2HHMLD.BIN and BN2HH12C.BIN from your OEM Navi DVD into the C:\TL directory

go into a command prompt navigate to your C:\TL directory then run the command below:

cebin yourfile.txt -s tempfile.bin

the txt file you created listed the following items if not copy directly from here:

image BN2HH12C.BIN
replaceFile navi.exe C:\TL\Navi.exe
replaceFile Back.bmp C:\TL\Back.bmp
replaceFile HMIManager.exe C:\TL\HMIManager.exe

make sure you have all items listed below in C:\TL
Navi.exe
Back.bmp (your custom backround picture that you renamed to back.bmp)
HMIManager.exe
BN2HH12C.BIN

now if your successful, you will have a file named tempfile.bin now move BN2HH12C.BIN somewhere else and rename tempfile.bin to BN2HH12C.BIN.

burn a CD with
BN2HHMLD.BIN and BN2HH12C.BIN(the one you just made and named BN2HH12C.BIN)

then follow the instructions on the first page to load your now hacked cd into the Navigation Memory etc.

Thanks Witerhino.. Got it!

The only 2 bugs now are:

1) cant control the uper lower vents from AC mode.
2) After my image loads... I get text saying Navigation loading (I think this is normal....isn't it?)

Anyway... Great Mod. Thanks again!

yeah the navigation loading piece i believe is always going to be there, unless someone else on here knows how to remove it but from what I read it has to remain. as far as the upper vents I just didn't worry about it. I mostly just wanted the OK button gone and the splash screen changed.

What you will need:
V4.55A navi DVD
1 blank CD
Bysin (program from first post)
8to16 (program taken from http://www.guicide.com/cars/2006civic/nav/hacks/)
A 480x234 picture saved in 256 bmp

Go into your C: and create two folders: ToBurn and NaviHack. Search through your Navi DVD for the following files(make sure you are copying the one off of the DVD):
07Touch.bin
07Touch2.bin
A0000_00.MNG
DCA0.reg
PRG_INFO.MNG
UPDATE_APL

Copy it into the ToBurn folder. Next also copy the “07Touch2.bin” file into the NaviHack folder. From the Bysin program, copy "Bysin.exe" and "CECompressv4.dll" file both under "release" into the NaviHack folder. Then go to the 8to16 program and copy the “8to16.exe" file into the NaviHack folder too.
Take the picture you want to use, rename it as “replace” (should already be in bmp format) and copy it into the NaviHack folder. Go ahead and open your command prompt (Start -> run ->type “cmd”) and get into the NaviHack folder (typing “cd\NaviHack” should work). Now type in these lines one by one. It should take maybe 1 minute between each command. Be patient.
-> 8to16 replace.bmp Opening1.bmp
-> bysin 07Touch2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
Now to check if the image in the bin file is replaced, type the following:
-> bysin 07Touch2.bin extract Opening1.bmp
A folder named 07Touch2 inside the NaviHack folder should appear. Drag the picture inside (should be named Opening1.bmp) the 07Touch2 folder into IE and it should be the picture you want to use. If that’s right, copy the 07Touch2.bin file from NaviHack into the ToBurn folder to replace the old 07Touch2.bin file.
Now burn all the files (6 files total) onto a CD. Just a regular CD will work. Now go ahead and follow the steps to load it onto your navi from the first post. Good luck. Let me know how it goes.
Just so everyone knows..This works for the White Disk Version 4.63...(I Have an '08 Tl Type-S) Worked perfect....Just make sure your picture is sized correctly and that any file name in the original instruction that has an 07 change to an 08.
Example: 07Touch2.bin would need to be 08Touch2.bin..Have Fun!!

P.S. Thank you Porkipine

If you don't know what a command prompt is please do not try to do the following yourself. Talk to your kids or your neighbor's kids and see if they can help you!

Another thing, I am not responsible if you blow your navigation system up yourself. By using this article you take full responsibility of your own action.

Tools that you might need

DumpNavi - DumpNAVI by bysin, it extracts and replaces files within BIN file.
Improved DumpNavi - Works with 4.xx NAVI software.
CEBin - CEBin, more feature and less limitation, but harder to use.
Navi-GUI - GUI front end for the DumpNAVI program.
TLPatch401a.com - AngryDad's trip computer patch.
HMIManager.zip - Kenny's modified trip computer for v3.40c (password: kennyc)
NaviOK401a.com - AD's OK button patch for Navi 3.50
navi.zip - Kenny's modified OK executable for Navi 3.40c (password: kennyc)

How do I change my wallpaper??

Things that you need
Your favorite photo editing software - I like photoshop
DumpNAVI program
A picture you like
Your navigation DVD.

Instruction
1. Create your wallpaper. Not artistic? Too lazy? Try here
2. Resize/crop the wallpaper down to 380x234 with 256 colors
3. Resize the wallpaper to 480x234 so it will "stretch" the wallpaper horizontally.
4. Save it as "Back.bmp" - make sure your photo editing software converts the picture from RGB to Indexed (img->mode->indexed color in photoshop) and enter 173 in the colors field. Also make sure it is saved as 8-bit bitmap. So your wallpaper will be the same size as the original. (113,068 bytes, 114688 bytes on disk) Make sure your wallpaper is the same size or smaller than those numbers, or else it will not work!
5. Copy 2 files off your orange navigation disk. (IMPORTANT!!! if you did the wallpaper and/or the trip computer already. You want to use your modified BNHH401A.BIN instead of the one copied off the navigation dvd)
BNHH401A.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN
6. Copy DumpNAVI.exe, your wallpaper, and BNHH401A.BIN into the same folder.
7. Go to a command prompt by start-> run, and type in "cmd" and press enter.
8. Say I put all three files in the "navi" folder on the c drive, I will type "c:" (without the prompt) and press enter. Then type in "cd navi" and press enter.
9. Now you should see "C:\NAVI>" Now type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN update Back.bmp" and press enter. The pc will prompt you when it's done.
10. The new wallpaper is now in the bin file.

If you want to add AngryDad's trip computer please go to the next section, if wallpaper is all you want find the section named "How to load my custom bin back into the car?"

How do I load AngryDad's trip computer mod??

Things that you need
Your navigation DVD
DumpNavi Program
AngryDad's trip computer patch (for v3.50)
or
Kennyc's modified version (for v3.40c)

Instruction
For version 3.50:
1. Download AngryDad's trip computer patch.
2. Copy two files off your orange navigation disk. (IMPORTANT!!! if you did the wallpaper and/or the trip computer already. You want to use your modified BNHH401A.BIN instead of the one copied off the navigation dvd)
BNHH401A.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN
and put them in the same directory as the dumpnavi and the AD's TC patch.
3. Go to a command prompt and change into that directory.
4. Type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN extract" This will extract everything within that BIN file into a folder named BNHH401A
5. Find a file named HMIManager.exe in that folder and copy it out to the same folder as AD's TC patch.
6. Run the patch.
7. After patching, type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN update HMIManager.exe" This will load your patched trip manager back into the bin.

For version 3.40c:
I trimmed the HMIManager.exe for v3.50 so it will fit in the v3.40c's bin.
1. Download my navi.zip from the link above
2. Extract the HMIManager.exe into the same directory as your dumpnavi program (password: kennyc)
3. Copy two files off your orange navigation disk. (IMPORTANT!!! if you did the wallpaper and/or the trip computer already. You want to use your modified BNHH401A.BIN instead of the one copied off the navigation dvd)
BNHH401A.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN
and put them in the same directory as the dumpnavi and HMIManager.exe
4. Type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN update HMIManager.exe" This will load the modified v3.50 trip computer into v3.40c Bin.

A note from AngryDad:
When you do the trip computer patch, you might as well benefit from replacing diag.exe from the 401a bin with diag.exe from the 404a bin. It enables trip computer screen in diag menu (where you can log data to the card if interested). Holding "Menu" for 5 sec on that screen, gets you to "Trip Computer calibration" menu.

How do I load AngryDad's OK button crack??*

Things that you need
Your navigation DVD
DumpNavi Program
AD's OK button patch (for v3.50)
or
Kennyc's modified OK button executable (for v3.40c)
*See updated notes below

Instruction
For version 3.50:
1. Download AngryDad's OK button patch.
2. Copy two files off your orange navigation disk. (IMPORTANT!!! if you did the wallpaper and/or the trip computer already. You want to use your modified BNHH401A.BIN instead of the one copied off the navigation dvd)
BNHH401A.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN
and put them in the same directory as the dumpnavi and the ok patch.
3. Go to a command prompt and change into that directory.
4. Type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN extract" This will extract everything within that BIN file into a folder named BNHH401A
5. Find a file named navi.exe in that folder and copy it out to the same folder as AD's OK patch.
6. Run the patch.
7. After patching, type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN update navi.exe" This will load your patched navi.exe into the bin.

For version 3.40c:
As with the trip computer, I trimmed the navi.exe for v3.50 so it will fit in the v3.40c's bin.
1. Download my ok button excutable from the link above
2. Extract the navi.exe into the same directory as your dumpnavi program (password: kennyc)
3. Copy two files off your orange navigation disk. (IMPORTANT!!! if you did the wallpaper and/or the trip computer already. You want to use your modified BNHH401A.BIN instead of the one copied off the navigation dvd)
BNHH401A.BIN
BN2HHMLD.BIN
and put them in the same directory as the dumpnavi and navi.exe.
4. Type "dumpnavi BNHH401A.BIN update navi.exe" This will load the modified v3.50 navi.exe into v3.40c Bin.

How to load my custom bin back into the car?
1. Burn your custom bin (BNHH401a.BIN) and the loader (BN2HHMLD.BIN) onto a blank CD.
2. Go to your car.
3. Turn your car's ignition to ACC
4. Open the trunk and pop out the NAVI disk (if it's in there)
5. Insert your newly burned CD.
6. Go back to the driver seat, the display will show some dvd read error, now press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" for approx 5 seconds to bring up the diagnostic menu.
7. Wait another 5 seconds to let it load up completely. Press "version" button on the screen
8. Press "LOAD DISC" to load your custom bin into the navigation.
9. Wait until it's completely done and it will then display another error message about can't read the navi dvd, now take out your bin CD and insert your Navigation disc and you are done!

Troubleshooting and Tips
I found the navigation system is pretty tolerant of mistakes. If you screw something up (and you probably will) All you need to do is reinsert your original navi dvd back into the drive, press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" for 5 seconds and it will take you to the diagnostic menu EVEN if your navigation system is in a loop! Once you're in the diagnostic menu just go into "version" and press "load disc" and everything will be back to factory state.

This will not erase your phone pairing, phone books, nor presets.

One last tip,

Make sure you keep a backup copy of your custom bin file. That file contains your wall paper, trip computer and the ok button mod. If you lose it you would need to redo everything again.

Thanks goes out to everyone, especially to AngryDad and datmrman for their hardwork and write ups. You guys are what make this board better than "the other board"

BNHH401A.BIN

and put them in the same directory as the dumpnavi and HMIManager.exe

Doing a cd c:\ doesn't take you to the c prompt? Make sure c:\navi exists before you try to access.

editing the navi loading text?

Hi,
I love the picture and ad trip comp info I've now got with AD and kennyc modified patches.
Can I still change the orange text that says "Navigation loading.....please wait"which pops up after the picture?
I don't want to change my other patches. I'm assuming I will just make changes to the updated/patched .bin that I loaded with the cd?

Anyway,
step by step appreciated.
thanks,
Jack

Hello,

Okay I am new here and I have just bought a TL-Type S that is amazing, however I bought it in the States and have no nav for in Canada. I have an MDX with the orange disc and was wondering is it possible to take the map files from the orange disc and created a new Grey Navigation disc for my TL?

If so which are the map files.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Question related to this topic - I can't seem to find clear answers on the newer models.

Are there any additional hacks that can work on the 4.52 Navi DVD? I have an '08 TL Type S, and other than some hints that the OK nag can be erased, is that all there is? Mainly, I'm after the Trip Computer hack, or something like it. I'd like more information displayed, such as instant MPG, decimal places, silly things like that! Seems weird that it's not an option to begin with straight off the menu. I've seen suggestions that it's because they need to limit the amount of memory in use - but c'mon, is that really the case? How hard is it to throw more memory at it and make it feature rich? Sheesh.

Anyway - I don't care about customizing the background or startup graphic. Really, the OK nag doesn't bother me that much either, although it'd be nice to get rid of. Mainly, I just want the better readout of Trip Computer.
