For a point of reference, let's look at hp/weight ratio of the 2006 TL and the 2007 TL:

2006 TL - 3591 lbs, 258 hp = 13.91 lbs/hp
2007 TL - 3680 lbs, 286 hp = 12.87 lbs/hp (Weight est. from Autoweek website)

She's gettin fat! 1-800-96Jenny is the 3591 lbs the same for 04 and 05 also I'm guessing models with nav weight more.

No its the 3.5L Engine thats adding that weight....cuz that is the 2007 TL Type S that is weighs that much.

Yeah I know the bottom one you listed was for the Type S but all around in General I ment any model with nave is going to weigh more. models with out nav weigh less.

The 2006 weight that I gave was an automatic with navi. According to Edmunds, the '06 auto w/o navi weighs 3580 lbs., so it appears the navi adds a negligible amount of weight to the car.

I have no idea which '07 TL-S weighs 3680 lbs (auto vs. manual, navi vs. non-navi).

Yea Chicago is nice... I liked it.

1. I found the autoweek link. Any more info other than what is by the pics?
2. Type-S wheels are UGLY
3. Type-S has different tails from regular? Wierd. And still no amber turn signals?
4. No power boost for base model? This seems dissappointing.
5. Everyting seems well otherwise. I like it.

I wonder if many people had objections when the 2G TL-S came out in 2002 and the hp on the TL-P stayed the same...

Well, the tranny did go from 4-spd to 5-spd though.
Also, For many people, like me, the acceleration and better looks of the Type-S were enough to sell me over the premium.
However, the next Type-S will probably be a good amount more than the base.

Honda switched to a 5-spd tranny before the TL-S came out.

The 5-spd came out in 2000; the TL-S in 2002. So there was no immediate change to the TL-P when the TL-S came out.

Do you think the engine is the reason for it being 1" longer?

Hopefully this wont be a problem for the A-Spec kit.

The Type-S will come with paddle shift with Automatic only, no paddles with Manual.

Thats right. Since paddle shifts are computer operated, how would you switch from a manual to the paddle shifts? I dont think its possible.

I do know that the paddle shifts on other cars make the car faster than manual since the computer is actually faster in making the change.. i just dont know if that is the same for the TL. Cant wait to see the 1/4 mile time specs.

The Paddle shifts on the TL wont be faster than the manuel because its a still an automatic with a torque converter. The Type S is basically getting a "new" auto tranny, which is just the one the RL has.

The paddle shift tranny that you are talking about that shifts just as fast or even faster than manuel are the automatic clutch tranny, like the BMW SMG

Looks like Manual is the way to go for a Type S then. I've been wanting to get this answered. Thanks!! Even if they have the same gear ratio's, the auto will still be slower from what you are saying.

Manual can have paddle shifters too, clutch "n" shift like most race cars, who don't have a manual gear stick, they're all steering mounted shifters.

He doesnt mean shift faster, he meant car go faster in general. The TL paddle shift is attached to a regular auto tranny with a torque converter. Torque converters are what kills performance on cars. A manual car, ie with a clutch, bypasses the torque converter letting the car put more power to the ground. Some paddle shifters are actually attached to a new kind of tranny. These auto trannies do not have torque converters, but have a clutch. Examples are BMW's SMG tranny and Audi/VW's DSG tranny. You get the best of both worlds with these new trannies. Faster electronic gear shifts (vs manual pull of a stick) and no torque converter. Some guys just like the feel of a stick though and think of a SMG or DSG tranny as an auto. In some cases you can just put them in drive, and drive it like an auto.

I wonder if they finally fixed the first to second gear change in the auto trannies. It would be nice to finally be in control of first gear in the autos without gate shifting.

Yeah, I think you are right. A new thread with the latest pics linked and the bullet list SLICK put together would definately eliminate the repeated posts of the same information or looking for the same info.

After seeing the photos of the Type S, I have to say the current model with the A-Spec package looks much better. The Type S looks way too busy.

I'm sure they will make an A-spec kit for you to put on your 07+ models. Just like they redesigned the lip kit for 02/03 TL's.

Speaking of SH-AWD they fixed my car after waiting 3 days "only a battery" anyway drove an RDX while they washed up my TL, not bad..weird turbo but its got balls

According to "Chilibowl" on the G35 forum, anyone who buys the '07 TL over the '07 G35 "must be smoking some serious crack". I think they're both great choices and I'm not smoking anything. Well, actually I think the base TL is a great choice, I'm not so sure about paying $40K for a TL (maybe for the '09 TL with SH-AWD).

One more thing, does anyone know if Cool Blue Metallic will be available for the TL (or is the blue '07 TL the new blue color) ? I was just curious since the '07 Accord sedan will come in that nicer looking blue.
