Now thats a record, i bet mostly the 97 guest are media people.
I'll eat up most of my words, damn the new type s is nice! however that blue TL still reminds me of the Civic SI in the past.

Why do I get this feeling that the Type S isn't going to be much faster...I mean its already going to weigh more with the 3.5L V6 how much quicker can it be, it for sure will have more high end PWR.

Even the 08 Subaru Legacy looks hot....controversial but true. I love my TL but I'm as frustrated as anyone else why Acura cannot unleash more of its undoubted engineering expertise instead of its current drip-feed approach.........
p.s. Acura will not release a TL-S over $39,500, so the TL-S will come with navigation less than $40K.

This is the same vision that Infiniti had with the M and the Q. The RL would have been in its class by itself and Acura wouldn’t be selling this car heavily discounted at $42-43K. With the introduction of the TL-S, you’ll leave paying the dealer around that price after all fees and taxes. Honda was in the talks 2 years ago of implementing the SH-AWD system with the 3.5L in the Type-S for the MMC. They anticipated that the Type-S will fill in the void between the TL and the RL. Now there is no possible way they can introduce the AWD system because of the close price point of both vehicles (RL & TL-S). The only thing they carried over was the 3.5 engine because they new they had to compete with there counterparts (Toyota, Nissan, Cadillac, BMW). Honda knows its platform is too heavy to be laying down all that power under FWD. They had already updated the VSA logical system to handle the added power. Now Acura is losing this time around until the ’09 TL and ’10 RL gets released. Acura is now releasing the RL without navigation because they don’t want buyers to shift one way to the TL. They want to justify the price point and know that the most users will prefer touch-screen navigation with voice over a button-touch with voice controls. The 3.5 has been tuned down as well to not step on the RL’s territory. Acura is planning on bumping up hp and torque on the ’08 RL .MMC
p.s. Acura will not release a TL-S over $39,500, so the TL-S will come with navigation less than $40K.

So, my thoughts...
I don't see any reason to trade in a 04-06 for the "new" 07, not even for the Type-S. The lower fog lights make it look like a walrus with its teeth sticking out, and the red interior reminds me too much of the cheap pontiac interior (though I do like that they switched to the RL type gauges).
I really like the Type S tail lights. I'll be ready when they come availible so I can put them on my 05.
I'm going to hold out for the 09 MY when I'm hoping they change the style to look more like the honda sports 4 prototype.
That is one sweet looking car!!!

Looks like the Type S redline has moved to 7k rpm instead of 6800. That's another minor change i noticed in the pics. Wonder if hp and torque outputs will be moved around in the powerband along with Vtec?

It makes sense to give US buyers the DRLs on the base model. The Canadian version has DRLs and is supposed to get XM this year since it is now available in Canada. That leaves little or no differences between the Canadian and US models. Maybe a different instrument pod and even that could be the same if they have use a MID setting to select Metric / Miles. It would be be very convenient when hopping across the border to have the correct units shown on the displays.

Needs 18's, Brembos all around, and 4 more hp, with what they have done already, and what we still need to learn about the car, to even have a chance. In other words THEY BLEW IT, but if they can keep it under 40k with navi, and dealers are willing to discount, im sure they could sell a few.

This TL type-s will sell nothing like how the previous Type S did. Acura brought the Type S back because sell like thethey think it will 2nd gen Type S. The new G is priced extremely competitively, and most sales will go to Infiniti. The TL will bomb for these 2 years to come

Type-S has 28 more horsepower and 25 more lbs of torque and the Type-S curb weight is over 100 more pounds than the base TL, I don't think the performance difference will be all that different or even noticeable.

I find it funny how most people who are getting angry at the new changes are the ones that have new TL's already. What were you going to do, trade your cars in? We mostly knew that the changes were going to be minimal and that the new gen. TL will come out in late 08/early 09. Come to think of it, there were more changes than many expected. I think they packed the MMC with enough extra goodies for the extra year and a half or more till the next generation. Think of it this way; at least you won't see so many type-s on the road. So if you do get one, it will be more unique. I'm sure when people see it in person, they will grow to like the car much more.

Honestly.. there is more to it than that. A mistake some of us made was that we didnt realize the Automatic was slower than the Manual (transmission gearing). The Manual also had extra goodies like Brembo brakes too. So if your changing from an Auto to a Type S Manual, you may come out stronger if thats your target goal. Some people say that adding a Supercharger to an Automatic is like driving a stock Manual. Cant wait to test drive it.

It seem acura frequents this site, because all the mods we've done for ourselves appear in the type s. At least backup camera and ipod hookup are standard. If I wanted to spend $4k, I would probably purchase the SC instead. At least I'll get more hp this way.

I need your opinions. I've decided to get an '06 TL and get a nice price for it. I got one of local dealers to give me a price of $32,000 for a TL with nav, automatic. Is this a good price? He is also giving me 2 years of free maintanance.
Any thoughts?

TL - No Fog Lights!!??
Why doesn't the TL have fog lights, like every other model they carry? According to their website you cant even have fog lights as an option when you choose to build your own TL. I think it would look better/more aggressive if it had fog lights (just my opinion). Does anyone have an answer?

Anyway, back to your question, if you want a 2006 I would go with that deal if the financing is important to you. If it's not then wait a month and see what you can get in Sept. or Oct. but your color options will be limited then.

3.3 V6 220 HP 0-60 7.7
3.5 V6 270 HP 0-60 6.8
So maybe the Type S with the 3.5 will gain about a sec at most with the add weight and changes, its got to woo us some how.

Yep, and with the same bumper, metal work I'm sure we will be able to put them in the '04-'06 models. Of course, if we're willing to pay a fortune for them at the Acura dealership! :-)

Yep, looks like a whole new guage cluster. They finally put a high-res MID display in the middle guage.
One of the beefs about my '05 is how cheesy and blocky the LCD is in the MID.
