So, would the steering wheel and gauges be the same in the base model you think or unique to the Type-S?

Just got in from Colorado after two days of driving. You guys get props for finding REAL info and a picture.

I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth trading in a a TL-S just to get more HP/torque, silver pedals, real fog lights, and blinking side mirrors. For $39k, I think I'd rather keep my car and buy an RDX with tech package. I am POSITIVE that these side mirrors will fit on a pre-2007 TL. The silver bits on the grille I've already bought online and will take a few minutes to add. We've got the Ultimate pedals that are easily installed.

I'm not knocking the new car, it is worth waiting for if you don't have a TL yet. For those with one, I'm not so sure yet. Even so, I do intend to test drive it once it's released, then will post a neuronbob™ review and a decision.

The article says mesh, but fish net is more accurate. The new grill, rims and blue paint are not doing much for me and is the trim around the windows also blue ( or body color) instead of black?

Something not mentioned is the 6 speed manual transmission. I wonder if they discontinued it? That would be a shame.

I like the beige/black interior combo but hope they do NOT get rid of the Camel interior. I like the Camel because it is a unique color verses the standard beige, grey and black colors.

Now i wanna see those quad-pipes!!

Since its going to be a 3.5L, the car will be even more front heavier = more understeer and less balanced

First Time TL Buyer with Questions

Hey all. I just sold my 2001 BMW Z3 (two kids later, my wife thinks it's time I get a car they can actually ride in) and am going to buy a TL--I think. I was thinking about waiting for the 2007 refresh, but after seeing the pics, I'm now thinking of just buying a 2006. As far as I can tell, they added signal lights to the side mirrors and some new wheels. I don't like either. Anything else I should know before plunking down my money on an '06 model? I'm not interested in the rumored "S" model and don't like the bling I see on the 07.

Thanks...I'm an Acura novice, but sure liked driving the one I test drove.

Love the side mirrors, steering wheel, and paddle shifters. It looks more like a TSX from the front

Yea the 07 base model doesnt even have any upgrade in power at all. I thought the 07 base model will get the Chinese version which is 273hp, but its the same as the current.

this will mean many people will be picking up 06's since theres no power change, only newer navi, subtle exterior and inteior changes, blah blah

High possibility since the RDX has integrated FOB.

Welcome to the site. If you want a 2006, you might as well get it soon so you can get a good deal!

Yep, those are some UG-LEE wheels and I actually think the fogs in the bumper look somehow out-of-date on this car. Those, along with the little chrome strip (that looks like the door edging stuff you buy at Pep Boys) just draw your eyes down to the lower bumper, instead of to the cat-like headlights and sleek nose of the car.

I figure it'll look better in person than in these pix, but I have to say I'm really not impressed. Some new car changes really grab you and others ... well ...

Thanks for the welcome. I think I'll take your advice. Now I get my car, uh, now, instead of in October...woohoo!

I was thinking the same thing. I was not impressed either. Reading the article was one thing.. then seeing the pics was another. I would rather add a Supercharger to my current TL instead of trading it in. Not only that, the 3.5L engine probably filled up the engine bay with no room for superchargers/turbo's.

Like you said, it looks like most of these changes can be taken off the new model and put on the older one. You can easily replace that entire bumper if you wanted it to look like an 07. Im not digging it though.

I also like the current A-spec front lip. The new one doesnt have the black molding which gives it the agressive look.

It shows in the picture. A stock TL doesnt have this line. You can tell its a slap on like the A-spec.

Wow the hole Cluster and wheel are all different. Maybe this will be a big deal as far as changes. Boy you would think Auto Spies or one of those guys should have color pics soon.

The 2nd gen. TL refresh (Type-s) was much better than the 3rd! (exterior changes)

however im digging the headlights, appears to be the same as the a-spec concept. now with those lights i can add dual ccfl angel eyes and that would look like a beast!

That doesnt look like a add on lip, that looks the whole bumper. I think the base Tl might have that too and they will have a new a-spec kit for the 07

Its like the 06 TSX, it have that little flare coming out, and they made a new a-spec kit which doesnt fit the 05/04, and only fits the 06

Somewhat disappointed. Dont like the position of fogligts. I agree, the 2nd Generation MMC was much better.

Ok i found out what those buttons are. They are the MID buttons, they moved it from the dash to the steering wheel. Smart move, i wish mine is like that. I use those buttons way too much and would be nice if its on the steering wheel like the 07

Are those actually paddle shifters? If you look closely, compare them to the center MID, it's the same pattern. I think those are acutually senconday MIDS then for right and left gauge pods, not paddle shifters.
