I agree this is real because of the way it's written.. Far too much work and detail to be a prank.
Also the guy test drove the TL-S within 4-5 miles of me!!! I live right where they mentioned between the two state borders, PA-MD, backwoods and all. I probably could have opened the window and saw the car! Just kidding, not quite that close... Still, had I known exactly where he'd be, I could have made a 3 to 4 mile trip and taken spy shots. LOL.. I can't believe it was so close yet so far. Pretty funny if you ask me.

Im pretty psyched about the Type S! I cant wait to see the pics.. sounds like the rear may look more agressive ("pronounced hipline")? Since they say its the same as the old Type S in power, does this mean Comptech will release a Supercharger for it down the road? Thats important to me.

I just hope what we read is true. I can see another thread going 50+ pages on how the TL should've or could've had this and the why's and why nots. Overhyping something usually leaves a person disappointed because that person was expecting too much. Just be patient and enjoy your current cars. When the day comes, then we can all go play with our new toys!

what will also be interesting to see is the gap between the 07 release and when an 2008+ (ALL NEW THREADS DEALING WITH THE 08 + TL WILL BE MERGED HERE) appears.

I really hope this is optional! I don't see how a new Type S with 286 hp is going to deal with torque steer with just FWD.

The half inch difference in body length indicates the Type-S will have the body kit formerly known as A-Spec.
Don't know if I like the Carbon Fibre interior trim. I never did buy into that trend and I'm "meh" about aluminum as well.
I'm a traditionalist. I like real wood and leather. :killer:
If the $5k in price spread represents the premium for the Type-S with Navi, And it comes with the body kit: I'm there.

Wheeee!
Still WWD (wrong wheel drive) and I bet wheel hop would be crazy when you get on it from the line.
The NEW G35 with RWD (as usual) and 306hp will kick the shit out of it with excellent automatic yet finally improved interior, but TL-S should be good enough for those who care about just get from point A to point B in a nice package of course and hope THAT 5AT will be solid and won't have any issues (as seen in 2nd gen.)
But personally, new G35 here I come with with EXCELLENT aftermarket and REAL POTENTIAL besides anything else.

Maybe the 6MT is different (apparently) because of LSD, because my TL does not have torque steer except under extreme conditions -like flooring around a tight corner on a rough road.
I tested it a couple days ago by flooring it from a dead stop with my hands off the wheel. The TL went straight as an arrow.
If you read the threads from the guys who have modded their TLs, they have put superchargers, CAIs, exhaust mods, chips, etc. and are cranking out nearly 350 HP. So, if you are speculating the TL can't handle the extra power, talk to them.

Yeah, BUT you should realize that SUSPENSION has to be modded which = $$$ to literally fight with TRACTION as it's your enemy everytime you visit the track.
To really get the 60' down there are A LOT of things NEED TO BE corrected and INVESTED on FWD. That's why RWD vehicles just take off and GONE .

But I'm sure someone like my dad will rather buy the upcoming TL-S than a caddy who wants FWD

Sounds like they really riced the 2007 Acura TL Type-S out. Acura never learns, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. The 2007 Infiniti G35 and 2006 Lexus IS 350 have the performance and the class unlike the 2007 Acura TL Type-S which sounds like a wannabe M, AMG, or RS variant.
#1586
I love my 2005 Acura TL, but who's going to pay $39,000 for a 2007 Acura TL Type-S when they could get a 2007 Infiniti G35 or a 2007 Lexus IS 350 instead for roughly the same price. Yes, the $39,000 may ultimately be less than the 2007 Infiniti G35 or the 2007 Lexus IS 350, but the TL doesn't match the G35 or the IS 350 when it comes to build quality, features, customer service, or performance so there is no real value anymore. It’s basically like getting a lower-end car now.

1) Don't kill the RL.
2) There is NOT AWD.
As Mike told many times it's hard to believe that in a restyling version, even a best seller as the TL, even if optional, we will see an AWD...

Slick: Since you haven't seen or driven a 2007 TL, you don't have any way of knowing that. But, at least your posts are consistent in your contempt for the TL whether or not based in fact.
You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but we're not going to hijack the thread (again) by discussing other cars besides the 2007+ TL.
As I've said about a dozen times in this thread, those comparison discussions, in depth, are encouraged over in Car Talk where you can start a fresh thread so that we can keep this one "clean" and on topic.

Build quality?? The Infinity QX this year was choosen as the worsw car in the market for quality or not?
Great car is the Nissan 350Z, but the interior is ridiculous...
You can buy what you want: I don't like the design of any Nissan-Infinity, only Toyota do worse, and the quality of the interiors... (The IS has great interiors, but for handling??).
There were people in this thread that even compared the new Camry with the TL, than I can understand you...
People buy the TL BECAUSE IT LOOKS GREAT: black, white, green, pink or trasparent, chrome or not, a-spec or not. No difference. It's a fantastic car for this price, the best: you can do nothing.
If I was looking for super performance and handling I had my choice: BMW M3 CSL for 35 000$, 2004: there is not better car in this category than M3.

I don't hate the Acura TL Xpditor, I just find it stupid that Acura is trying to compete with Infiniti and Lexus using a core competency that it doesn't have ( performance ). The Acura TL sold so well because it was differentiated from the competition on the basis of value. Why Acura wouldn't continue to grow this core competency with the 2007 Acura TL is beyond me.
#1595
I have to agree a little with SLICK here. One of the key advantages I think the TL has is that it is priced very competitvely and loaded. As you push it up towards the $40k range, it loses a lot of that "value" and becomes just another option in the Sporty/Luxury area. But, I do think the Type-S seems to be targetted at Engine-geek types. So, I guess that makes the TL competitive in engine size for those who have to have it.
Sounds like the base only went up about $700 from the '06.

Many people consider the interiors of Infiniti as cheap and plasticky. Yes I agree, but that was in '04. I am a proud owner of '06 G35 Coupe 6MT. The interiors of the G35's were vastly improved in '05 with more extensive use of higher quality leather, and higher quality plastics. Sit inside the new coupes and see for yourselves. Ive raced many TL's and I shit on them all day and all night. After the races, I give my thumbs up for the fun, and go on my way. Dont get me wrong, TL's are beautiful cars and their projectors are the sh*t (im a sucker for HID's ) , but after driving my boys 05 TL, the driving experience just isnt there. The slushy gearbox, and of course, FWD, all that understeer is terrible and no fun at all. Its not a driver's car, its more in the luxury scene. In my coupe, take VDC off (traction and stability control) and you can take corners hard and its tons of fun having the rear end slide out and being able to control it with steering and that gas pedal. Every year, the quality goes up and up for Infiniti's. What Honda needs to do is get deeper into the Luxury/Sport scene and come out with a REAL sporty/luxury sedan/coupe. Ever wonder why the S2K is Honda's best performing car? That's right, RWD. I respect Acura cars for what they are. Hopefully in the future they can produce a drivers car, a car that is MEANT to be DRIVEN. For those who care, here are pictures of my coupe.
I was without a joke, a signature away from buying myself a TL, because damn its a sexy sedan, but after test driving a 6MT G coupe, it won me over.

That interior still doesnt look good and the g35 coupe looks funny without a spoiler in my opinion...
