Vtec.net commonly uses the term "mmc", or "minor model change", which means refresh, as oposed to major model change (complete new car).
So, they're basically saying "major refresh".

Yep, kinda like military intelligence. When one doesn't have anything of significance to say, just obfuscate with oxymorons. Works every time. lol

look put it this way people...just expect a small price increase in MSRP, minor exterior mods, minor interior mods, upgraded techs (e.i. bluetooth, nav, and sat. radio), new colors, and maybe different wheels. Type S? I thought the TL was gona go through a complete redesign in 08 or 09? Does it make sence to come out with one now? I mean I can be totally wrong but to me it seems to compete either Acura needs to seriously upgrade the current TL or just come out with a new one...

Whoever pays MSRP or close to it for a 2007 Acura TL is a fool. I would never pay MSRP or close to it for any normal production car.

Damn, another month of modding this thread with reposts of snippets of speculation.

Just kidding.

Hey, at least we got a LITTLE info. I wish real Acura execs or those in the know would scoop us, the biggest TL site, instead of the TOV.

September 1, 2006 better bring features, photos, and a price. I've never been so excited to get a new car. There are so many options to choose from this fall.

Wow, that really sounds like some TL krio. I don't have anything special on mine, except a spoiler, but it's pretty sharp in silver. I'm sure you will like the A-spec look now that you have it.

That's what I thought they were doing. The dealers seem to have a dozen different ways to adjust price, LOL. I never thought about them doing that on a lease either. Very sneaky indeed. And I'll just have to be extra careful when negotiating. One way or another, it will come out to something they will accept. So I figure I'll just try to get as close as I can with multple prices from different dealers and hope for the best.

For all the people that are interested in the 07 TL, keep the 07 G35 in mind too

LOL on the update today! Hey, at least we got a little info from Acura. Not totally what I hoped for but better than none...... Interesting how they gave out a little info, then told everone to wait until 9/1. Maybe they need to sell more 06's. Sooo, 30 days to go

If they leak it then they won't get the exclusives for the next gen updates. They stay tight lipped because its their lively hood. They make no money off of leaks to free internet sites.

Hey I'm no idiot. I also thought that it meant "mid model change" - but on vtec.net they just said "minor model change" which also abbreviates to MMC, and means the same thing.

What do you think, the minor changes of the TL 2007 will be similar to the changes of the TSX restyling 2006? I mean: 2\3 more colors, new front grill, new wheels, and a new shape for the steering wheel, different gauges colors, and a "new" instrumental panel?

great question. i think this is too hard to say b/c there are so many possibilities.

for example the 2G refresh was: headlights, front bumper, taillights, and probably some other stuff i didnt notice

for the 3G, im not sure if they would change the headlights cuz they look pretty good as they are (maybe make them black housing?), but maybe change the front bumper(?), probably mirror signal (i wonder if they'll get rid of hte sidemarker), fog lights in the bumper, and the taillights will most likely be different. they probably wont do too much else. but who knows.

either way its too soon for me to start drooling over the refresh, i'd rather wait for the '09s come out before any notions of trading my car in begin. haha

I am curious if anyone has heard anything specific about a change to the iPod connection. Saw a post earlier that it was rumored to change. Would really like to see something other than a $400 dealer install option. But, I do like the idea of it being in the Glove Compartment, just for aethetics, instead of a cable or something coming out of audio system.

From my observation the 2G refresh was new -head/tail lights -front bumper -fenders -Type-S performance -wheels -slight interior upgrades.

and that is what i expect from Acura for the 07-08 TL's but who knows with todays market its much more competitive than before, so they can go farther than what they did with the 2G

Pretty sure that if Ipod integration is in the refresh, it will be by way of an "Aux Port", like the TSX and MDX. It would plug in via a headpohone cable and be controlled by the Ipod... This would allow you to use any Aux source, not just Ipod.

Nice visual/touchscreen based Ipod integration will not happen anytime soon. Ipod keeps changing thier proprietary standards. The best you'll get out of Acura is the Musiclink.

2007 TL Minor model change

Hey chris

I work for an Acura deler in NJ , but I have heard things and seen some confirmations on vtec.net. The models are on a 6 year cycle (before a complete redesign) and now that the 4th year of the TL is about to happen, the model is getting an MMC (minor model change) which happens every 3 years on Acuras.

The styling is going to be refreshed, though I have yet to see any pics or spy shots.

Rumors are that the car will get the J35 engine which will put out between 260 and 300 hp (in order to be competitive with the output of the G35 sedan). It will have powertrain improvements too, but I doubt it will be AWD until the redesign in 2009. They will probably add some interior features or change them look of the wheels a tad. Hope this helps.

Check out the picture of 07 "TL's" to be exported to China.

First row...2nd , 3rd and 4th car have unigue headlights and side molding. Almost look like RL's.

Any other observations ??

Elvis - those are RL's. That's probably just a pic of cars to be shipped as opposed to cars being exported to China...unless they're getting the RL, too.

krio - 5 year cycle, that's right...3G = 04, 05, 06, 07, 08 models, with sales beginning the September/October of the prior year. 2G was 99-03.

they are the RL....

Designed, developed and assembled in the United States, the sporty TL is the number one selling Acura model in the U.S., and will be sold alongside the top-of-the-line RL luxury sedan.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I just saw pictures of TL's that are being shipped to China from the U.S. at

http://www.motortrend.com/features/a..._export_china/

It's actually hard to spot any major differences. The front has some new holes under the grill. If you look at the larger holes on the left and right of the front, you will see a thin horizontal painted seperator that is added that is not on the 2006. The side mirrors look closer to the car as well. I'm not seeing really much of a difference other than that. Maybe there's more, but it's not easily visible.

The article says they are TL's. Also if you hover your mouse pointer over that picture it will say, "2007 Acura TL Finished Vehicles Ready For Export". At least it does under Win XP. Other versions of windows may not do that.. When I clicked on the picture for a higher resolution shot, they appear to be TL's. So hope that's them Of course they may differ from the final U.S versions, but I suspect they will be about the same.
