2007+ MERGED THREAD, SPECS ARE NOW ON PAGE 1, POST #1

i wonder if the base model's seats have changed. the pics we've seen so far seem to be only for the type-s since there is a "S" on the headrests (or at least what looks like an "S")

Fightin' Texas Aggie
I'm feeling a little better after seeing the new pics. The silver is much better than the blue. I'm not going to trade in my '05 for one, but I think there are some definite changes for the better.
The wheels on both models are still terrible. Ron should get some added business .
I'm not feeling the tail lights, not my style.
Still don't like the fog lights
I really liked the blue interior lights; orange or red, no.
I love the current exhaust tips. They squared look is cool to me.
Nav traffic, backup camera, aux/ipod input, cool
I like the new seats and the S on the headrests
Basically interior is a nice upgrade minus the orange/red gauges. Exterior is not as nice as my '05.
I still can't wait to go take a test drive in a few months.

Okay, so I'm wondering ...
- Are the wheels in the (base model) pix on Autoweek the standard wheels, or are they the A-Spec or other optional wheels? I'm referring to the split-spoke wheels, not the Type-S wheels. Given that there are split-spoke wheels already available at your friendly local Acura dealer, I wonder if the car pictured here has optional wheels on it.
- The tail lights on the Type-S model appear to be reversed from the base model, in terms of the integrated backup lights. The Type-S shows brake light LED's like our's, but the base model appears to have clear backup lights in the two strips where ours now have brake lights.

The TL seems to have an Aux Input, but any news on the MP3 CD Player, Start/Stop Button or Smart Access?? The rear view monitor is a nice addition. The new RDX does have an MP3 CD Player but no Smart Access. The new 2007 camry XLE V6 and Hybrid versions have the Smart Access.

Okay.. these pics are starting to look a little better.. I definitely like the quad exhaust on the type-s.. But those rims are horrible!! I hope those aren't standard with the type-s... Also doesn't seem like they improved the leather quality.. as someone pointed out... the leather looks like it was put on too loose, there's wrinkles in the headrest!
I still think the G35 is the clear winner however it all comes down to price now... if the type-s is priced lower than the G35 like around 35k i would consider getting it but 39k is pretty ridiculous..

September 1st 2007 TL news embargo
Looks like Acura isn't too happy with the Boston Globe article, since info on the 07 TL was not to appear until Sept. 1. Wonder how they feel about Car and Driver, which referenced the Boston Globe article, but provided no new info, and AutoWeek, which has posted a bunch of cool pixs. Sounds like we may still have to wait till Sept 1 for official info from Acura.
From the Jalopnik site:
Dear Acura Long Lead Attendee,
It has come to our attention that one of the publications in attendance at the MDX / TL Long Lead last month, unintentionally broke the September 1st embargo and published a story on the 2007 TL.
Whatever the circumstances, we take embargoes very seriously and will deal with the publication accordingly. Regardless of this breech, the September 1st embargo still stands for all information and photography from this event and we trust that you, and your publication, will abide by this date.
As you can imagine, every aspect of the new TL launch, including months of preparation and planning, are geared toward the Sept 1st embargo, and this seriously compromises our national launch plans.
Embargo dates are created to allow all media sufficient time to produce their stories. We realize that a few of you may feel this incident puts you at an unfair disadvantage, however we must maintain that an embargo is an embargo. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to the September 1st embargo date.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

I've been reading all the posts and all I can say is just be happy with what you have. The G35 is a great car, but so to is the TL. if I wanted a coupe I'd probably go with the G35, but I personally wanted a sedan with a little kick to it. The TL is a mid size luxury sedan with a decent amount of power under the hood. You've got the luxury of more expensive vehicles and the pick up and performance of sportier vehicles.
Now, the 2007 TL-S looks great and it sucks that I just bought my TL a couple of months ago, but that's just the way it goes. I'm not going to knock the new TL, I think it looks good. I just wish they had bumped it up to 300+ HP. I do prefer the whole blue theme on the present TLs (goes with my blue interior, soon to be installed illuminated sills and sound system...). I love the quad exhaust, but I got a comptech exhaust (not bad at all). The pedals look good, but the ones from ultimate pedals and supercomputer (acura racing pedals) look just as good if not better (have these). I must say the tail lights and side markers look good ( I have my tail and sides blacked out, I do like it but it could look cleaner). I would definately like to add these to my TL.
I wasn't supposed to rant on, but basically besides the minor cosmetic and engine changes there's not that much new. Having said that if I did not already have a 3g TL and was in the market for one I would definately consider one. For 39k it's not that bad. A base TL with nav costs on average of 33k (approx. natl. average) add another 3-5k (depending in where you purchased it from and installation costs) for total A-spec. You're already looking at between 36-38k, now add a sportier exhaust, another 1k (installed) and your close to the asking price. BUT, if the 39 k does not include a nav, then $41k may be a little too much. However, if dealers give 2-3 k off MSRP then the car will be worth it (I doubt they'll give much of a discount initially).
In closing, if you're considering a new TL take a look at the TL-S, but remember besides the slight changes there's not that much more. You can get a great deal on a base TL w/ nav. For those wanting power a simple exhaust, CAI and pro cats can get you the same performance gains. But, these will probably be available for TL-S eventually too.

Any thoughts on how easy it will be to switch out pieces on pre-07 models with pieces from the Type-S model?
I for one would like the taillights from the Type S and tint them and the exhaust is pretty nice too. I'd even like the headlights even if I lost the foglights.

The new photos from Autoweek look very very good. The photo from the Boston Globe really sucks, and surely causes a lot of panic among the readers here. Goes to show you how important it is to use a proper angle to take photos.
I wonder if Autoweek will receive penalty from Acura - they'd surely get a lot of hits for the early release of the photos. "No more photos for you." Maybe They'll pay $ to settle this.
Personally, I really like the refreshed exterior, especially the Type S. I never like the current rear - the tail lights and square tail pipes just don't look that good. The wheels on Type S are surely bizarre - but at least very different. Foglights are pretty good too. Similar to TSX - I actually like the TSX exterior a lot more than the current TL. Interior - two thumbs up!
Price - well, that I'm not sure, especially if nav isn't included. But I think the 39K price will include Navi (and backup camera). There probably will be a cheaper non-navi Type S version. More choices for consumers - that's the winning recipe for luxury cars.
