For $1500 in pro-cats, pulley's and CAI, you'll pull more HP that the 3.5 L Type-S... and get better milage.

If you're looking for a deal on a 2006 Acura TL with NAVI then you can't beat this....
30,950 Acura TL with NAVIGATION
29,250 Acura TL w/o NAVIGATION
This is in the PA/NJ/NY area.
email me if you want me to forward you the quote.
acura042006@yahoo.com
I had to go back and forth a few times to get this so I'm not sure you will get the same thing right away. Tell the internet manager you want the quote Mike Jones got! This should save you the back and forth negotiations!!

For the type-s, Acura is a bit confused, in face of the competition, and forgot about the price of RL. It's all messed up.

Now I'm thinking of trying to get one of those great deals on a 2006 or just wait for the G35x. I know this shouldn't be a big deal but I REALLY liked the blue dashlights and that picture of the 2007 TL looks like amber lights to me
Just also noticed that the 2007 G35 has a CF card in the dash so you can plug MP3's in without an IPod, that's pretty sweet, plus they have white and blue lights on the new dash.
Still haven't totally ruled out the minivan though

The main difference in my mind is that the RL is much slower, even than the current TL (6.7 sec. 0-60, v. 5.9 for the TL). Then there's the more conservative styling of the RL. Then there's the ride/suspension difference, and the luxury level.
Overall, the RL is aimed at an older audience that wants a cushy ride, lots of electronic trinkets and plenty of luxury touches for long-distance touring or driving to the coountry club with friends. The TL is a more youth-oriented car (especially the Type-S), with a sportier ride and more aggressive styling and handling.
And keep in mind there is still an $11,000 price difference between the RL and the Type-S.

its fast enough already...they need to leave it that way so there is space between the base and the type s....heck even the 2000 TL base hit 60 in 6.7sec with only 225HP

My fellow TLers, seriously, lets stop fretting about this. Yes we're all disappointed but still I think we all saw this coming. Lets all place our hopes in the generation 5 TL. Acura has too much to lose, in my opinion, in not doing what we all want for the next generation. I mean they're not bad cars, we can all attest to that, it's just we're all sick of being second place to the others in terms of power, handling, and luxury...when we know they can do better. I'm really anxious for the generation 5 in 1 or 2 years, I have a feeling they'll do this one right...

Acura is not going to dramatically change the TL. It is only a MMC afterall. They tweaked it a lot more than I thought they would. More changes than the TSX had.
The next gen TL will have SH-AWD and the 3.2 and 3.5 engines I bet.
What I'd like to see is Acura using a 6 speed automatic in its cars.
What the TL is doing is making the RL more of a joke.

Looking at another website which has the model matrix for the upcoming yrs... it states that the Type S would be around 290HP which was dead on. Now, it states that the 09 will be 300HP and AWD. If we wait another 2 yrs, we get 15 or so more HP? Im not feeling it. Thats probably why they dropped it to 286 so they have room to grow. Like others have been saying.. we are 2 yrs behind in power I guess. Infinit and Lexus takes lead on this. SIGH.

News from C&D.... (the picture is of an '06 though)

Acura brings TL Type-S back for 2007
After a three-year hiatus, the TL Type-S is back with even more power.
BY JARED GALL
August 2006
For 2007, the Acura TL line will sprout a Type-S boasting a more powerful engine and a sport-tuned suspension. According to The Boston Globe, power output grows to 286, a gain of 28 hp, and torque rises 23 lb-ft. to 256. Previously, Acura offered a TL A-spec handling and appearance package, although it offered no bump in power. While the A-spec was a dealer-installed kit, the Type-S is a factory-produced regular model.
Of course, a sportier car has always entailed more than under-hood muscle to Acura, and this latest Type-S is no different. Suspension firms up all around and gets capped with Type-S specific wheels. Astute observers will notice the Type-S wears a mesh grille, a subtle spoiler, and quadruple exhaust outlets. Others will be clued in by the more obvious Type-S badging.
Inside, the Type-S invites shenanigans with sporty bucket seats boasting hearty bolstering, stainless steel pedals, and carbon fiber trim. A five-speed automatic will be standard on the Type-S. Thankfully, a six-speed manual also will be available. Pricing on the new Type-S should begin around $39,000.

So when the hell is Acura going to release pictures/info on the '07 TL? They better hurry, because from the looks of this thread, the sole picture out there seems to be driving former Acura enthusiasts to their local Infinity dealers. I'm just going to run out and get an '06 TL.

As for the looks, I don't know.. the '07 G35 is starting to grow on me. Looks pretty damn good in this pic.

One thing I don't understand about Honda or Acura in general. Their concepts and sketches/renderings always look amazing, but the final product ends up looking like a very bare interpretation. Honda has the potential, I wish that they would just stick to what they show. As shown by the S2000 & NSX, they also have the potential to build an amazing RWD platform.
A few of the new G35 specs were released today, it actually weighs less than the IS350! (3498 pounds v. 3527 pounds)

If only you knew how much of the rest of the auto enthusiast world laughs out loud at anything built by Honda. They make motor scooters and lawn mowers, don't they?
(And, yes, I have an '06 TL. I don't listen to other people ... I make up my own mind.)
