Yet again, our old friend SEARCH to the rescue!

Seems the spec info came out around the first of August, so in about 2 weeks.

Thanks Chilldog! The first mention of the 2006 specs are indeed the 1st of August. My favorite comment comes right after they listed the specs. He said, "Did the HP go DOWN from 270?" Everyone was going into shock. LOL

What was the best was the subsequent 1,136 threads that popped over the course of the next year (and occasionally, still) regarding that subject.

true.. LOL. Well at least maybe Acura will finally give us more HP. I hope there is a small bump up for the regular TL, then a big bump for the S version.. If there is even going to be an S version (with all the rumors here, we can't tell). It will be a small dissapointment if the regular TL doesn't get any bump, but it will be ok I guess.

No way will the TL have more than 290HP which is what the RL has; it will hurt RL sale as they are releasing a ’07 RL with no Navi as standard. I could see the Type-S having around 300HP but anything more will be unlikely because of the torque issue on the FWD platform. The TL is also to front nose heavy. The TL platform is at its limit and Honda knows it. Acura is banking on the wait to show us the MMC of the TL because they want to make enough $ to make it worth while for the next (2) years before they throw out a new platform. Truth of the matter is that the '07 and '08 TL won’t compete in performance with the 3 series, G35, CTS, or IS350. They are banking on the technology they will have in the car as the ’06 has with a minor upgrade (lights, shifter, and mirrors). Acura has another year to design the new platform on which they will introduce the new body in fall of ’08. That’s the reason Honda invested all that money in the design center in CA.

Mike, consider certain things. What about that guy who's driving around drunk? He'll just get more speed up. Or perhaps the dumbass 23 yr old who doesn't know much about his car, has aging tires, and all of a sudden, he can't slow down from 120 quick enough? 295hp is a LOT of power. It is rare when I feel that I need more. Sure, extra passing power can be good, but it can also get you in a good deal of trouble.

Perhaps the most dangerous of all is the new Escalade with 400hp, and goes 0-60 in 6.3 secs. Lets see - drunk 17 yr old driving around 400hp Escalade with drunk friends, running red lights...

It does stink, but don't get your hopes up for 2 weeks either. I rechecked that 2005 thread again, https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ht=2006+MERGED)and the first link to a review of the 2005 TL was 8/19/05. That's 18 days beyond when they announced the specs on 8/1.

Of course there may have been pictures posted elsewhere before the 19th, but I'd have to wonder why they didn't post them. So I'm going to guess we'll know about the 1st of August, and find pictures in the next 2 to 3 weeks, if it's just like it was last year. So it could be ae month. If it's different, I have no way of telling.

Its always possible. The RL weighs more which is the need for more HP. The RL isnt made for sport like a TL. Most RL owners arent looking for power, just room size and neat gadgets for the family. A typical TL owner is younger and wants a fun car. The target audience is different, therefore you give them what they want. If the TL is the best Acura seller now, why not keep it up and make it even a better seller compared to their rivals? If the RL slows down, so be it. The sales are made up with the TL. Then the RL will need to be redefined.

290 or so for the maybe Type S version would be the minimum. Seeing as to how with the previous version was given about a 35 hp boost so 258+35=293...iono?!?!?!

Well, we won't convince each other of anything, but I'll say this: You can get a fool in a Yugo up to dangerous speeds, so horsepower isn't the issue. Bad drivers will always be a problem and limiting the rest of us isn't the answer.

I've found (in my 45 years of driving) that power has gotten me out of as many potential bad spots as brakes have. If your car doesn't have the beans to get you on a fast-moving freeway, or around a slow-moving vehicle, quickly enough, you will become a hood ornament or cause others to be injured or killed trying to avoid you.

Horsepower is not a bad thing, and I hope the '07 TL gets more of it. My only reservations about the TL right now are the rattle issues and a silght shortage of power. Given the choice, I'd take the rattles in exchange for more ponies.

Are there rattle issues with 3rd generation TL's, or all TL's? Which rattle issues? Does the 2003 TL have them?

Thanks. I haven't noticed any seat belt buckles rattling in the 2003.. Not that I don't believe you. I have heard a little rattle in the dash on bumpy roads only. Rattles can be so annoying.

Does anyone expect a price increase in 2007? Not the Type-S if they have it, but the standard car.

Of course, with the dollar failing and other economic factors I expect an increase not a big one couple hundred, I think that’s been the trend so far with Jap cars. It does help that it is built in the U.S. but still….

Acura really should release information on the 2007 Acura TL soon because mind-share leads to market-share.

I just checked and the MSRP of the 2006 costs $300 more than the 2005. No big deal really.. But it does add up over 2 or 3 years. I hope it's no more than that though. thanks.. also to SLICK too.

here's one- can we expect the paddle shifters, like the one in the RL and RDX, to make the 2007 TL?

The funny thing about all of this is, if you try a Google search for the 2007 Acura TL, the first link that appears on the list is THIS one.

Im hoping the info will be released on August 1st as it was last year with the whole Acura line up, with the biggest news being the refresh of the TSX. So this year will be the refreshed TL, so we'll see on the 1st of Aug.!! Cant wait!

It sounds like the earliest we will know is August 22nd then.. But this is for the entire Honda lineup... So I'm confused. Can someone else release info on JUST the TL before then? Or is it impossible? Or might Honda say something about the TL earlier? Last years TL specs were released August 1st, And a link to a review was around the 19th. The specs being printed on the 1st is what's throwing me off. But the review coming out on the 19th of last year would fit with the one month wait I expected.

Cool Delivery

Does anyone know when the dealerships generally start to receive stock of the new model year. Been looking around and haven't found anything.

Well, looks like an '06 for us them. We can't wait until october b/c of our lease. This is most dissappointing, as we were looking for something that would be a decent replacement for our Type-S. There's a few things I still don't like about the '04-'06 TL, partly lookswise.

I think Honda release info around the first week of August for the Acura line up and couple weeks later for the Honda line up like you said August 22-23rd.

Hey Sweetride01. Did you already extend your lease with Honda? I just got out of a lease on our Odyssey, but I wasn't ready to buy the new car on the day the lease ran out. Honda offered an option to extend at the current lease payment for several months if needed. I would think that they would be glad to work this out with you so you can buy an '07.

Correct. Acura's news embargo date is usually 8/1 and Honda's is later around 9/1 unless the model will arrive before then.

It is impressive how secretive Honda is with details.
