Keep To The Topic
If this thread starts devolving again into a G35 comparison, it will be closed.
You can start a thread on that topic over in Car Talk if you like.
This thread is about the 2007+ Acura TL. Keep to the topic.
By doing so, it will be easier for people to find real information when it becomes available.
Thanks.

Does this mean that we will have to wait for rumors of what was shown today as opposed to first hand info or was someone smart enough to not mention they were attending to stay under cover.....

Well its true.. I found the designers of the Acura Ahead website:
Acura Ahead Website
BWE was recently selected to design the Acura Ahead Press Preview Website.
The website's goal was to promote the Acura MDX and TL Press Preview Event and allow press representatives to register for the event and establish travel arrangements.
The website features online registration functionality and content manager.

Somebody pleeeeeease post some news on the '07. I just got back from a trip up the coast in my (aging) 2000 TL thinking I'll come back to some juicy details.
I'm dying here!
(and like many who've posted before me, if it isn't damn hot, G35 here I come)

Im not sure if this was posted.. but its the first time I have read this:
"The Acura TL Type-S rumor is $43K"
Source: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/Web...w8gMK@.f0d114b
If thats the case, I would rather purchase a Supercharger on my 05.

I call BS on that rumor. I HIGHLY doubt that Acura would suddenly come out w/a Type-S that is 10 Grand more than the previous years standard model. For comparison, the last Type-S was only 2 Grand more. 10 Grand is BS.
Even an E39 M5 was only about 12 grand more than a 540i 6-spd. And that is an ///M car.

well considering the a-spec is 5gs more then the base model, 43k for a type-s doesn't sound to crazy in that respect....
it also depends on if the type-s has navi or not. because the base price of a TL w/navi is 35k.
a TL a-spec w/navi msrp is about 40k...so 3k more isn't that crazy.

It'll most likely be factory upgraded wheels, tires, suspension, and engine work.
When it comes from the factory built into the cost of the car, you pay a lot less.
Acura should know by now that there are few people willing to pay $43K for an Acura. People would buy the 335i instead, or more prestigious Lexus's or Infiniti's. $43K would completely nullify the concept of the TL, which is a near-luxury car that many can afford. Why do you think it outsells the competition? VALUE FOR MONEY. 43K wouldn't be VALUE FOR THE MONEY compared to the competition.

The kicker in this case is if they use the 3.5 liter engine to gain those HP instead of tuning improvements to existing 3.2, and if the corporate plan is to migrate from the 3.2 to the 3.5, then the cost delta from Acura's POV is a wash - it's going to be their standard engine. Now it may be detuned in other trims, but this is likely an off-the-shelf design configuration (RL) with minor tweaks.
My only issue with it is I'm not biting unless it has AWD. More low-end torque + FWD = shitty driving experience. A $37k G35 sedan available in November would kick the crap out of that car if it has FWD.

This is true, and IF it has AWD, which I think has almost been dispelled now, would bring it closer to $43K, but again, I really don't think Acura would find buyers. As another example, in ~2001, you could get a 530i for $35k, and that car speaks quality and handling, not to mention brand reputation.
I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out, as people (if any) who took spy pics today will be pshopping them and contacting the likes of vtec.net in order to sell them tomorrow.
