I have never been in USA
Sorry Invincible,
but I am italian and I have never been in USA. But I really would get at least 5 or 10% of the geniality of Ikeda, designer of the TL, and build such a beatiful car... It's my car!

Thanks
there is many reasons to believe that the changes will be minamal for the exterior and interrio.
Ther reason is that the TL is the best selling sedan by Acura by three years in the row, and the design is no getting older...
There will be new led on the mirrors and something will be changed in the engine, a little bit more power, but you have to consider that Rl and TL got less powerful one year ago: 300 h.p.-290, 270 h.p - 258...
Than, the TSX has got this year in the restyling 205 h.p, not so much, than the TL could get something about 10-15 h.p more? or, maybe will be a Type-S version, as shown in Los Angeles in the 2004, with 300 h.p and 3.2 engine: I think will be HOWEVER 3.2 even with 300 h.p. There is no marketing reason for Acura to put in a restyling version the 3.5 that will be ready for the 2008-2009.
The SH-AWD is said, step by step, all sedans of Acura will get it, in the future, as standard or optionals.
It's useful and trandy an all wheel drive car the last few years (Lexus, Infiniti, Crysler, BMW...).
The reason why the SH-AWD will be however an OPTIONAL is maybe that the base MSRP TL would get too much expensive (now 33.500$ - with SH-awd something near to 40.000$), and than no target car in market as at the moment...

For what I know, Acura has erased from production the RSX because too cheap and concurrent to the Civic Si...
Than, there are rumors about an Acura TSX, not TL, coupe and even cabrio for the 2007...
if we consider that the Honda Accord (sister of the TSX) has already a coupe version, and that the TSX after the TL is the best selling Acura sedan, it doesen't look impossible

3.5, 3.5... mmmmh, It's seems strange. I don't understand why the 3.5 of the RL, when in the L.A. 2004 there were allready a prototype TL A-Spec 3.2 with 300 h.p...
I think that the 3.5 will be in the all new TL 2009 as standard engine...
Look at the BMW that with too small turbos got this year from the 3 liter engine 306 h.p...

Info on Wikipedia

Eeewwww. Clear taillights?
2007 TL is due for a Minor Model Change before 2009 redesign. It will most likely receive clear taillights, turn signal blinker on mirrors, and additional horsepower with a revised intake/exhaust system. Canadian TL is confirmed to have XM satelite radio starting 2007.
It has been rumored that the 2009 Acura TL will use SH-AWD as used in the current (2006) Acura RL. Rumored new engine choices are the 3.5L used in the current RL or a DOHC 3.2L engine.

How many times are you guys going to post that $hit from Wikipedia? I think I've seen it in this thread at least 5 times, 2 on this page alone! And while many things on Wikipedia are correct, if you read the tone of the article, it's still just some guy's opinion as to what he thinks will happen, and it's nothing different from what has been tossed around on numerous other websites, not to mention in this thread.

Gosh, the wait is getting a little annoying for the '07. My dad is looking to replace his '03 TL-S soon (also so we don't have to get it a 3rd set of tires). The '02 TL-S update came out in April of '01, did it not??? By that logic, shouldn't they have already bought out the '07? Or, perhaps the'06s have been so popular that they are milking them for what they're worth before bringing out the '07. Who knows.

2nd Generation
99 00 01 02 03
2002 TYPE S Came out in 2001
3rd Generation
04 05 06 07 08
2007 TYPE S OR MMC Will come out in Late 2006
Seems pretty on time to me, but the 2001 CLS Got Type-S Before so thats why 2002 TL-S Came out so early in 2001.

I guess I wonder why you guys are so gung-ho on SH-AWD ... it hasn't helped keep the RL from tanking bigtime.
It adds weight, complexity and expense, and frankly most people don't seem to see the need for it. I mean, it's gee-whiz neat engineering, but it probably adds $1,500 - 2,000 to the price when everything is considered. I agree the FWD of the TL is a limiting factor, but I'd rather see it go to RWD than SH-AWD myself!

And I also think it would be about as cheap for Acura to convert the TL to RWD as it would be to add SH-AWD to it.

We have a car that has to have oil added every other day. The engine lights are on and it's 'missing' or 'skipping'. I suppose any day now it will cease up. It also smokes. It's looking like we'll be getting a TL but don't know if this car can last long enough for the darned 07's to come out.
The lack of info is incredibly frustrating. It's almost June now. Counting June, from now till 2007, it's 6 months. I've never personally experienced new year models coming out in November. They've always come out sooner.
What month did the 2004 3rd gen come out? Or the newly tweaked TSX? Or at least the Hondas?
Surely someone on this planet HAS to know what month they expect to unleash these things. Minimally, my goodness! When the heck is ANY info on them going to be released? This is like some top secret government spy plane? Or a darned car?
I'd just be happy if someone could throw us a bone here. We are totally lost here at my house and it's getting stressful.

The lack of info really shouldn't be that surprising. With 06s to sell, giving people reason to wait wouldn't make much business sense now, would it? But yes, it is frustrating. I'm currently pondering jumping to the RL (like the content; not so sure on the looks vs. my 04 TL), waiting to see what happens with the 07 TL or maybe even waiting on the new 07 G35. That looks interesting. I definitely want my next car to be AWD, and Audi doesn't interest me in the least.

meagain,
Expect information to come-out in August since that is when the Ohio plant starts building the 07 TL. Your dealership will not get the 07 on their lots until late October if you are lucky. More than likely, the dealership will get the 07 in November on their lots.

meagain, is it a dodge caravan you have? Those things smoke like no other. Perhaps you could get a used Volvo 850 or something in the meantime, while you wait for the TL, and since they've lost most of their depreciation, you shouldn't lose much money. The 850 wouldn't be too bad to have around for a couple months.
Then it's '07 TL time!

[QUOTE=Mike_TX]I think that's my point.
Mike, the question is that the SH-AWD by Acura is not the AWD, for example, of the Audi.
The AWD by Audi is an "all time" working 4WD system: summer and winter (in snow winters it's simply FANTASTIC, I had an Audi A4 quattro before my TL).
But the AWD of an Audi doesn't resolve the biggest problem of all the Audi: an heavy front that spoils a sporty drive like the BMW (for that reason in the new RS4, S6 and S8, the distribution od the front-rear wheels is not 50:50, but 40:60, more similar to a RWD).
The Acura SH-AWD it's something like the 4-matic of the Merc, of the AWD of the Lexus or the Xi of BMW... It means that the car in normal conditions behave itself like a REAL RWD.
The electronic "feels" a situation of danger, snow, rain, or wet and only than the car begins to work with all the 4 wheels.
But the Acura SH-AWD got something MORE than the 4-matic and so on...
Something that you can find only in the best all wheel drive in the market: Mtisubishi EVO VIII and IX.
The distribution of the strenght on the wheels can be shared not only between front and rear wheels, but between left and right wheel front and rear, from 0% to 100%... That is realy a GREAT thing.
Than, with the SH-AWD, you will not feel sometimes the heavy nose of the FWD 270 h.p. TL, but a lighter one, as a RWD; and it means more handling and sporty drive.
But at the same time, if you live in Toronto and not in Miami, on the winter times you have the more safe guide of a real AWD.
For these reasons I think that the cost of a clever system as the Acura SH-AWD can be estimated in not less than 4 - 5000$...
I hope soon we'll get it on a TL.

More rumors in favor of the sh-awd. http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showt...oto=nextoldest

I'm assuming if one didn't want AWD with it's extra weight and assumably poorer MPG - one could still get a FWD version? And is it correct that a Type S is really an aspec? I really don't want the tighter suspension. The ride is already rougher than I like. I wish more info would come out on the styling and creature comforts vs. engine engine engine.

It only does 0 - 100% in the rear, not the fronts.

Just like many of you guys, I'm waiting to see what the 07 really looks like - hoping it will be my next car. I thought I would wait until the 07 is announced before I choose between the 06 and 07, thinking I would have time to order an 06 at the last minute before they start building the 07 - if I wasn't thrilled with what was announced for the 07. But this sounds like I won't be able do do that. Is there indeed any time between the announcement of the new model year and the freezing of orders for the old model year?
