According to Edmunds, "invoice" on the TL with Navi is $32,205 (which is probably pretty accurate for this meaningless "invoice" terminology)
Kelly Blue Book is close to the same although they add freight $32,820.
Kelly also reports the avg. selling price of a 2006 TL to be $35,042.
The MSRP is $35,325 + freight. And they explain:
"The New Car Blue Book® value reflects a vehicle's actual selling price and is based on tens of thousands of recent real sales transactions from auto dealers across the United States. The New Car Blue Book value is not calculated or based on a proprietary formula; instead it is derived from actual new vehicle sales and extensive knowledge of the marketplace."
So if you can find a new TL before the 2007s come out for $32,205, I will buy you a steak dinner. And I'm talking out-the-door with the only addition being sales tax. I'm not talking about you taking their financing, extended warranty, and dealer add ons into the deal.
To find your true cost (to the buyer of the car on a clean deal), divide the dollar amount of sales tax by the rate of sales tax (as a decimal).

Welcome to Acurazine.
Read all the posts above and you will discover a wealth of speculation including the Type-S and SH-AWD rumors.
At this point, the Type-S looks like a sure thing; the SH-AWD -not locked in.
Would the elitist car mags start treating the TL with a little more respect if it were awd instead of fwd? Hmmmm.

Im wondering.. if the new 300HP rating will be more than what we own since it is regulated by SAE now like they did in 06? "More" meaning the calculations are more accurate. In other words.. if SAE wasnt a factor, then we would be looking at 312HP? Thats just an estimate.

I was at the acura dealer in my area yesterday, and the man told me there was going to be major changes for 2007, and that it will be released in November. I don't know if what he said is real though

I know this has all been speculated upon before many times over, but I thought I would pass this along. My buddy from school works for Honda in Marysville, OH and currently works on the TL. He is in town visiting friends and family and I decided to hit him up for the latest on the TL. He says that there will be a 2007 Type S with a 3.5L producing 300hp, but no SH-AWD until the redesign in 2009. He also said that they had already started producing the 2007s, which conflicts with what someone had said previously. Can't wait.

sellable? what is more curious for me is at what price range all of this is going to get accomplished. I'm guessing this is going to shoot up to at least a-spec pricing as in 40k give or take 3?

Anyone in OH, if they are built, they must be stored outside.

A 3.5 liter for a refresh? That mean more torque steer and it isnt really smart to put a NEW engine just for a refresh. The only honda vehical i can think of that had a increase in displacement for a refresh is the S2000(2.0 to 2.2 liters) and that didnt really increase the HP much at all but only for more low end torque. So if the TL does get a 3.5L, that would be about 40 HP increase!
IMO, i dont think it will happen. Also i don't think there would be a Type S because Acura wants their image to be a luxury automaker and the type S makes them look like a ricer brand. I wonder why the TSX didn't get a Type S model for refresh?

a new rumor to add to the list.. a 3.5L. Hmm. The 2007's have to be made now.. we are only a couple of months away from its release. Hopefully its not heavier now with the bigger engine.

Sounds like they are going to put the 3.5L motor from the RL into the TL. If that's the case then I would expect the RL to get a V8. Why bother buying an RL when you can get a TL with the same motor.

But they will not stop building 2006s until August. You have a couple of months to go in this model run.
Point being, you don't change over a whole production plant overnight and you do not lay production workers off and shut down just to change over. You do it line by line.
Your friend is the second to say that they are making 2007s as we speak. I didn't believe the first one but...... where there's smoke, there might be fire.
Peer pressure from Toyota/Lexus and Nissan/Infiniti will force Honda/Acura to goose it up to about 300HP just to keep up. And, with the 3.5, if they go that route and tune it to the level of the current 3.2 or better, they should be able to see 300 HP. That's assuming a 10% displacement boost will produce a 10% power boost.
I think it's too much to hope for DOHC and a timing chain.
I'm fine with our current HP, but I could sure use some more torque.

So with all this, the next big change I see the TL having is 300HP, 260 torque, SH-AWD, 3.2 with turbo(like the RDX) or 3.5(RL), 18” rims, update with traffic Navi, 6 Speed Auto, & cooling and heated seats.

They have to start now and refine the tranny and motor for '09 under another skin. Acura has to do it right this time around, because its competitors will crush them if they don't. They also have to come out with a 6speed auto. With more torque and HP, is time for an upgrade on the transmission. Again if they don’t, with 300+ HP & 260+ torque, this FWD TL will have too much under steer. VSA can only handle so much power. AWD is the only proven drivetrain Honda has for now for that platform.

Consider the A-spec TL, which include NO engine mods, is pushing 37-38K OTD, I'd expect a Type-S to be near 40K. Good luck with that.

Maxima FWD
G35 AWD
350Z RWD
Doing this, they will have to invest millions of $ to do. If Honda shares the 3.5 with the TL, the next version of the RL should have a V8 to compete with its competitors. Having a V8 with FWD won’t be any good, no matter what kind of traction technology to throw at it. Is just too much weight for the front of the car. Honda should be focusing on making the car 50/50, as BMW been doing for years.

tl 2007
Chris,
I suggest to you get a look at the foolowing site:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acura_TL.
I have read that the TL 2007 will receive a little restyling in the front side and the back, with new led on the mirrors as the RL. The engine is said will be a little more powerful, and MAYBE, maybe there will be an optional SH-AWD.
The ALL new TL is scheduled on the fall of the 2008 begenning 2009 with a new 3.5 engine as the RL, but more powerful that 290 h.p or an all new 3.2 DOHC and for sure the SH-AWD system as the new RDX and MDX.
In 2010 will be ready the all new RL with the first V8 produced by Honda, and in the 2009 will be the turn of the new NSX, V10 , 500 h.p.
I suggest you waiting for the all new Acura TSX that will be ready on the fall of this year, at least beginning 2007. I beleive she'll be very similar to the prototype 4 that was presented at the Tokyo Auto Show 2005, with a 2.3 engine with 240 h.p. as the new SUV RDX and, maybe, optional all wheels drive.
I hope I was useful to you,
have a good day!

about the TL 2007
The TL 2007 could really get a 300 h.p.?
I agree thet with a FWD it will be too much, I feel in my TL 2005 the oversteering sometimes...
I really don't know but I feel that the TL will get a SH all wheels drive.
I don't think that the TSX will bother with 240 h.p the TL.
Look at Audi and BMW: they have the same engine in different models!
330 and 530, for example with 258 h.p., and consider that this year the first biturbo BMW will get first the 3 series, with the new 335 with 306 h.p.
I think that the new RL in few years will get a V8, or a cheaper version that is rumored for the 2007...

I am NOT an employer of Acura because
I live in Italy, in Florence and NOT in USA.
I have got my Acura TL from friends in Florida... I have never been in USA, and I simply love my car and reading everithing about it I can find out in the web.
OK??
