That is of course IF the '07 TL Navigation has an upgraded Navigiation System!
You only have to change the hardware in the trunk. Which is around $2000 i think and get the new disc for $200.

I'm curious if you could just switch out the "acura" navigation equipment in the trunk with Alpine navigation equipment for less money.

Where do you get that kind of information about what the cars are selling for now? I am about to negotiate on a '06 TL and would love to have some data that I could use with the dealership.

The ENTIRE assembly can be had fro about $2k, including the screen, wiring harnesses, etc....so the unit in the trunk is probably 1/4 of that....

Why would you put a sub-par navigation unit from Alpine, when the Acura navigation systems are class leading. The Acura Navi unit also has Voice Recognition capability.

Alpine makes Acura Navi units and the dvd maps are by Navteq. In general Alpine is one of the best AV makers. Navteq is the best in the business, too. Because of this great combo HondaCura Navis are accurate, easy to use and fun. Overall considered to be the best in the industry. Now if only we could easily and inexpensively update the units with newer maps and new features these Navis would be perfect.

with all due respect to everyone, certainly some interesting questions regarding nav...but we're headed into off topic land...perhaps this should be in a different thread....

We will allow a post or two to drift slightly off the main topic: 2007+ TLs, but no hijacking of the thread into another topic is permitted.

If you want to talk about Navis and switching them, fine. But go to the Audio, Bluetooth, Electronics and Navigation sub-forum for that discusssion which, I think you will find, is already a thread you can join.

For the umpteenth time- keep this thread clean.

Thanks.

Speaking of crappy dealers if any of you ever move to the Chicago land area don't buy your Acura from Muller's Acura, they are jerks.

To get back on topic, and off "crappy dealers"...
This is interesting, I've verified this.

Look like the TL-S with 300 HP is gonna happen. I'll still bet it'll be overpriced, and Acura may go the road of the IS350 and only offer this in 5AT (due to FWD torque steer).

Who've you verified this with? I don't know if I'd trust anyone at a dealership, car rag or 1-900 number at this point.

the RL murdered itself. There isnt enough power to interest the demographic its going after. There was a used one with like 20k miles at my dealer, for only 35k!

I only verified that Motor Trend plans to publish info on the 2007 TL on page 76...

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but I certainly consider that rag to be enough validation that someone at Acura is certainly planning it's release.

Publishers don't like recanting stories, and they obviously have more info, or vested interest, than anyone here.

Gang. I'm new to the site, but an Acura fan from Day One. (Had the first Legend Coupe and four more Acuras since.)

I have one of the first TL's to come off the truck in Nov. of '03, and love it. (I'd rather have that coupe you're showing off on this thread though...)

Here's my take on the '07. The last thing this current Front-Wheel-Drive car needs is more power, so I really don't think that will happen till the new model in two years when SH-AWD arrives to eliminate torque steer.

And, as pointed out, it would be lethal to the sales of the RL.

Whatever happens this fall, I bet it'll be similar to what happened to the 06 TSX (we have one of those too), which was minor yet clever tweaking.

No sarcasm, just saying that they are a "primary source" and therefore don't need to be verified.

Yup the TL will only get a slight hp boost like what the 06 TSX got so something below 270 -280hp range and dont count on a Type S

You can speak with all the common sense in the world in this thread, but it won't be heard (except by a few). I'm sure there are over 50 posts in this thread saying exactly what you just did, but it wasn't heard then, and it won't be heard now (sorry ). So sit back, enjoy the posts about 300+ hp, flux capacitors, and whatever else, know you're right, and smile as you say "I told you so" when the info does come out. Oh yeah, welcome to the forum!!

...and on the outside chance the other people are right, I invite them to say "I told you so"...I mean somebody's going to be right and have the chance to say it.

EDIT: Just saw where some guy said some car mag had some info on a Type S in it. Let me go ahead and say here (since the thread was closed before I could post) that just stating that isn't going to cut it. Scan the article...it's kind of like the "pics before post" rule.

TL-S - $38K assuming with Nav. If not, $40K+... I called it.
At least there's more confirmation, and that it's cheaper than A-Spec.

TL-S = 28+ more HP than the "new TL" and a $600 suspension. I hope you get more than that for $6-8K

Acura and its secrets...

I've been with Acura for a short while now. I know Acura likes to hold off on all info untill the last minute. I read through alot that has been said here and the questions back and forth about the TL 'S coming out.
You WILL see a new TL'S
IT WILL be at the dealers near November. It is going to have some serious changes . THE RL motor is going to be the big change. 3.5 L will be in there.
yes Acura holds its secrets , even from us which is tough on occasion but knowing the quality that we have . its gonna be something to see.

I don't know about cheaper than ASPEC...full ASPEC w/ Nav can be had for $38k here (and many other places in the country). And I don't really consider "he said, she said" confirmation, but if it's in R&T (scan please?), I'm sure it will be in a readily verifiable source soon (ie. link w/ pics)...although I found nothing R&T.com earlier today. Not saying it's all hooey, just want solid proof.

I do agree with the second part completely; for $6-8k more, it should have more than 28 extra hp and a $600 suspension.

Speaking purely MSRP... TL with dealer installed A-Spec is more expensive than $38K... What you can wheel and deal is another story.

I spoke to my dealership today enquiring about the 2007 TL models. What I got told I couldnt really believe...my sales manager told me the 2007 TL is coming wih more hp 270+.....there is also a Type-R TL coming out with close to 340hp....yes 340hp....no news on SH-AWD.

1) I am hoping the above is true....
2) I hope the Type-R has SH-AWD to handle that power...
