Oh, by the way, I asked my dealer about the '07s and he said that the changes were to consist of different head lights and tail lights and an upgraded navi. I didn't ask him about HP changes or a type-s, I'll ask him about that next time I go in. I know this info has been thrown around on this thread millions of times already, but I just wanted to add what I've heard.

I'm looking to replace my TSX with a larger, AWD car, so I'd be absolutely thrilled if SH-AWD came to the TL for 2007, but c'mon.
I know I'm just repeating what several others keep on saying here on this thread, but being realistic, I can't see the addition of SH-AWD in the middle of a model cycle. And if they're not going to do that, there is also no practical way to significantly increase the HP on that FWD platform.
I agree with the others - facelift on the headlights and taillights, 5-10 extra horses, and maybe the keyless from the RL. That's it.
Now, I'll be more than happy to put my money where my mouth is if I'm wrong. Sure would beat the cost of a 530xi, M35x, GS300awd, RL......

300+ HP is a myth...not until 2009 guys...Everything you are all saying is for a complete model change...this is a "refreshening", not a rebirth...
The type S that came out on the Second gen was just a tweaked intake and exhaust system...expect the same to be true for this year IF a type S actually does happen.
I for one am not a fan of putting more than 260 horses to the front wheels...
Hopefully in a week or two we will stop speculating and drewl on some facts
Cheers

Even if the TL gets an updated Navi disk that enable the TSX trip computer features and zagat ratings and such... it may be as simple as a new disk to upgrade.
The problem may be, these vehicle specific programs may not accurately work in our older TL's, as the programming is designed with the 2007 platform, it's fuel consumption, yada yada. We've shown you can load the Accord .bin file and get these function to "be enabled", but you lose other functions, and the new functions aren't always accurate, as the algorithms are programmed based on the particular vehicles specifications.
No doubt it will probably workout to get the new disk in hopes of getting the new features, but odds are an upgrade will never be 100% accurate because the software is specified to the engine specs. The new TL has more HP based off different tuning, and I'd suspect that to reflect.

You WILL see a new TL'S
IT WILL be at the dealers near November. It is going to have some serious changes . THE RL motor is going to be the big change. 3.5 L will be in there.
yes Acura holds its secrets , even from us which is tough on occasion but knowing the quality that we have . its gonna be something to see.

Have not posted on Acurazine in months but this is the most insane thread ever.
I look forward to the '07 release but so much talk about so little.
Must be killing everyone.
Only time will tell....

I doubt they will do AWD in the TL it will hurt RL sales too much why buy an RL then they are just about the same size anyway, but I'm sure they will do the Type S I called my sales guy today I said don't BS me I want to know he said its going around but hes not totally sure then I told if so put me down for one

I've read that thread... That's not my point. Not only that, you can pick up used Navi's off autopart salvage for $500+ as 2007.
If you were to buy said equipment/disks and install it in your TL many function still may not be accurate (as those function are based of algorithms around certain vehicle specs), as the equipment was designed to run on a different platform... That would be like, well, running the Accord or TSX software in the TL. It might work, but it'll probably break other things, and not be accurate.

i like RWD as much as the next guy but they need to think of us people in the north/northeast who get snow 5 months a year. we need some front wheel drive sleighs we can get around in and still eat up mustangs with. this is mainly why i'm turned off from infiniti and lexus. if you get AWD you have to take the smaller engine choice. it's BS.

the term " Type-R " does not exist in the US anymore..... it died couple years ago when they stop importing integra type-R ..... it was the only type-R we ever had
TL-Type-R ??? what's acura gonna do ?? put a M3 engine in it ???

CLS 6MT Navi
The current TL has been a big seller for Honda, they are not gonna spend much money upgrading a car that is selling well and at the top of it's segment. (If it ain't broke...)
Tail and headlight tweaks, maybe a button to start it, some technical upgrades. They are not gonna move the TL closer to the RL in any serious way, esp since the US RL is such a low volume seller. (I've heard and seen used RLs going for mid 30's already). Now there's a car needing some major tweaking at least in styling, and some features, but I hear they're gonna offer a decontented (cheaper) version.
I prefer coupes but with Acura's coupe drought I'm starting to look at sedans, thought I never would.

Well that's small but good news, as the tires that came with my TL only lasted 20,000 miles and were low-performers anyway. They were the worst thing about the car. Have a new set of Pirelli's and they're great.

Certainly Acura needs to differentiate the TL and RL, but holding the TL back by denying it more power and AWD shouldn't be the way to do it.
I was thinking about this last night - BMW, for example, has the 330xi and 530xi. Both share the same engine and drivetrain, but that alone doesn't mean the 3-series incringes on the 5-series' sales. There are other, more fundamental, differences, such as a significant size difference and perhaps some extra luxury feel to the 5-series that meets certain buyers' needs.
Hopefully by 2009 when the TL is made-over, presumably with AWD, Acura will start figuring out how to better differentiate the RL without sacrificing the advancement of the TL.
