I don't see why not. 04 TL had an MT as did the the Type S. The fact that the SH-AWD TL is getting one tells us Honda cares about providing an MT.

I agree with Colin, to a degree. I don't think an MT will be offered initially, but it will be forthcoming.

The fact that they had to design a whole new tranny for the TL 6mt makes me think twice about whether the 6mt will be offered immediately. The TL's won't be released til fall if I'm not mistaken.

Correction. That new tranny is specific to working with AWD. The 286HP FWD Type-S already had a MT.

While the mere fact that SH-AWD is finally getting its due is reason enough to celebrate, we are ecstatic that the SH-AWD system was incompatible with the TL's existing 6-speed transmission. 'Why?', you might ask. We're ecstatic because this forced Acura to engineer a completely new transmission.
Not sure if the new tranny is only for SH-AWD but the fact remains that a 6MT was already available for the 3.5.

I won't buy a 5AT. There are too many other good options out there to put up with 5AT. The word that it will be a "type s" trim of some sort also lends itself to a 6MT.

ahhh....you are correct.

well, I still think that they might offer only one transmission at the beginning to gauge interest. Only reason is that I'm not sure how commited they are to this car.

But since the 3.5 already has a viable MT, I don't see why not down the road.

I'm one of the most outspoken about Honda still only offering 5 speeds on their AT. But I don't think it would stop me from buying one. As long as it didn't ruin the driving experience, which I doubt it would.

I haven't heard anything about this being a Type-S trim. However, if true, then I could see a MT. If this is the case, I hope the drop the MT option on the 4 cylinder TSX. Assuming a base V-6 and Tech V-6 I can't see it as a plus to have 8 trim levels, 8 exterior colors and 3 interior choices.

If it was TypeS there wouldn't be a tech package which would make sense.

If they don't offer a 6MT I will see that as an ultimate betrayal. I mean you can head the direction of luxury over sporty, but once you take away the 6MT you have cut the lifeline to any legitimate claim that the car is sporty. Sportiness isn't just about road feel, it's about interaction with the car. It's an experience, part of which is winding up the tac all by yourself and working all four limbs.

Sports shift is little more than DIY slushbox. It makes as much of a contribition to sportiness as heated seats. It's no DSG.

^^I know this....I've had a 5at for the past 4 years, and have defended my choice to the high heavens.

However, I can't lie to you....I'm itching for the MT. This AT bullshit is killing me. They had better offer an MT on whats supposed to be a performance oriented sedan.

....now off to autotrader dot com to look for 2006 MT TSXs.

Betrayal might be a bit extreme, but for the most part, you're "preaching to choir" my friend. In the 8 cars I've owned (14 if you count my wife's cars) there has NEVER been an automatic.

However, I do make a living selling these things, and I know that it not really impact my income if there were no manuals. They account for a terribly small portion of the overall sales.

It seems that the value of 2009 TSXs aren't holding up quite as well as they would have due to the poor economy and the special incentives. If you hold out I'm sure they will be within reach soon.

The Acura NSX was probably a better marketing tool than a production car. It's good for a car company to have sporty cars nobody actualy buys because it makes the unsporty cars look like they're cut from the same cloth. If you say "this car comes in AT or MT" you think, oh that's a sports car that comes in two flavors. If they say "it only comes in AT" you just think, "oh, it's a bitch car."

The upgraded diesel looks to be for the Euro Accord which already has a diesel option.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they change the exterior. If they offer 6MT and the exterior looks snazzy I'd likely trade in almost immediately, with or without AWD. I looked at the TL-S initaly so I've been waiting for something like this to come along.

A while ago Acura had stated that they want all their models to have SH-AWD but nothing has been said since but they have accomplished it on everything but the TSX. All the talk lately is the v6 for the TSX & so far nothing about SH-AWD. Maybe for the MMC in 2012 ... ?

First it is not increasing the weight of car. Second price is pretty close to 2.4.
Honda already has GT version with sport suspension. The whole approach seems very minimilistic. No improvement to tech packaged announced neither is LED DRL. We are already in 2010. V6 diesel is still not there nor is new auto transmission.

I'll be taking a hit for trading in early yet again but I don't think I'll be able to stop myself from being there the day they arive off the trucks. Where as the 2G was 100% better than the 1G, a restyled 2G V6 with 18''s is a solid 80% better than the base 2G, so that's a lot of improvement for the TSX in small period of time. Since they are essentialy making the TSX into a gap filler for the old TL, I don't think we'll see many more surprises, aside from AWD, for quite some time to come.

My guess is that it'll be Tech-only 6MT and 5AT, similar to the 3G TL Type S. I also think they'll drop the 6MT from the 4 cylinder, since the people who will want a V6 are generally also those who want a stick. The thing that sucks is that they'd use the same 6MT in my TL (and I presume in the V6 Accord 6MT). It's not up to TSX standards when compared to the current 4 cyl. 6MT.

I'm still pissed that there's no SH-AWD. I think a TSX V6 SH-AWD 6MT would be the the perfect Acura. Maybe we'll see that for the MMC along with the TL's 6MT.

How is it 80% improvement? By hp it is 40% improvement. and some it is being nullified by extra weight. You can get 18 with summer high performance from dealer. 2G TSX is 100% better than 1G because of its more refined/Real time traffic./Multimedia package/better styling/better fuel economic.
V6 will be the same size as 4cylinder. so no improvement there. There is no point of trading earlier. The only thing to see is if we get clear lenses for lights. I dont expect LED. and how is the pricing going to be. Atleast they should put Vented disc brakes for rear like Infiniti.
