the only time i drop out of vtec on shifts is when the tires are spinning and they dont gain traction till it shifts into second, the rpms can fall anywhere from 4000-4900 depending on how bad you were spinning through 1st gear, but on a 7200 rpm shift with traction my rpms fall back to like 5250 rpms on the 1-2 shift
